Water Ch. 52 - Seat Next To You

"Did you just say what I think you said?" sitting up on her bed with the look of surprise on her face.  She didn't know what to say or even what to do.  She hardly knows this man and he hardly knows her, so why does she feel so giddy all of the sudden?  Jon stands there, shocked that the words came out of his mouth, too.

Water Ch. 51 - More Than We Bargained For 2005

The sun is bright as it shines through the uncovered window in the Beth's New York city apartment.    Waking up and looking around, she sees that Jon is gone.  Trying to recall the events of last night, she has no idea where he could be. She doesn't recall anything being mentioned last night.  Dropping her head back into her pillow, puzzled by where her rock star might be she decided she should check her phone.  Sitting up in bed, she doesn't see her purse but she notices the time.  It's 10:30.  Fuck, why did I sleep so late and where is Jon?

Water Ch. 50 - Stay 2005

Sitting in the backseat of a car that's being driven by a hired hand and Jon Bon Jovi next to her, Beth is thinking that she should be on cloud 9, right? Well, she gives it a little thought and decides that she is at about 8.5. Something is eating at her, something is bothering her really bad and she didn't want to talk to Jon about it before the show.  But, is sitting in New York City traffic, after a physically gruelling 3 hour concert the time to talk to Jon about what's on her mind?

Water Ch. 49 - Everyday 2005

Beth knows that when Jon introduces Richie, it's time to head to quick change.  So she knows what to do when the guy that's the size of a house comes up to you and motions for you to follow him.  She follows him.  It's time for her to meet her rock star in the quick change room.  She follows Mike and she can hear some girls yelling, "Where is she going?"  Both Mike and Beth ignore it and he gets her back there as quick as he can.

Water Ch. 48 - Let It Rock 2005

Madison Square Garden was sold out and there were women as far as the eye could see and they all wanted to get rocked.  Bon Jovi all but guarantees a good time at their shows.  The album was a huge hit and was very well received by the media and the critics.  It never gets old selling out the same venue time after time, especially when you're so close to home.  And it was even more special when you have that special someone with you, in your dressing room.

Water Ch. 47 - Miracle 2005

Walking into his multi-million dollar home, Jon could hear the little guys playing and Dorothea talking.  He wasn't sure if she was on the phone or if maybe she was talking to one of the older kids.

Water Ch. 46 - Breakout 2005

Walking in the door of the 2nd home that his lover owns, Jon is equally impressed.  He looks around at the modern, yet feminine decoration and tells her, "Your view is better than mine.  This thing must have cost a fortune."  He walks over to the floor to ceiling window and looks out.

Water Ch. 45 - Midnight In Chelsea 2005

Jon was a business man above all else.  He learned over the years when to ask questions and when not to.  And Beth's comment about having stuff in New York raised a couple of questions. Reaching cruising altitude, knowing its safe to take of his seat belt Jon gets up and gets a bottle of water, asking Beth if she wants anything.

Water Ch. 44 - Kidnap An Angel 2005

The alarm sounded very loud this morning. Beth hops out of bed and turns it off before it wakes Jon up. Having the need to use the bathroom so goes in, goes pee and brushes her teeth. Decides she'll make coffee and then she'll wake Jon.

In the kitchen she sees her phone and decided she'd let her boss know she was taking a few days off, that she was going to New York with Jon. It was a simple text and she knows she would be just fine. Sets her phone down and then notices Jon's shirt and her panties on the floor. Picking up his shirt, she sat at the island and held the shirt to her chest. She could smell it and it smelled like sexy. Mmmmm!

When the coffee was finished, she grabbed a tray with two cups, and had some strawberry and bananas to cut up. In the kitchen fixing the fruit, her phone rang. It was her boss. She slid the call to decline and thought she would deal with that later.  She had the naked rockstar in her bed.

The tray is prepared and she takes it into the bedroom, sets it on the cedar chest at the foot of her and climbs up on Jon. Whispering in his ear, "Hey RockStar, it's time to get up. I have coffee and fruit. Wake up sleepy!" He rolls over on his back and says, Good morning beautiful." He reaches up and grabs her head and pulls her to him. He kisses her good morning and sits up in bed. Beth gets him his cup of coffee and a plate of fruit. "Do you always eat so healthy?

"I try. I like to take care of myself. Is that a problem? I would normally be out on a run, right now. But I have company."

Placing his hand on her leg and says, "If you want to go for a run, let's go. I do about 5 miles a day." He sits more upright in bed and stretches what he can. "Thank you for the coffee and fruit in bed. I owe you one." He smiles at her, falling in love with her.  "I cant remember the last time anyone brought me anything in bed.  Eating the strawberries like they were a new food and he loved them, he finished his breakfast in no time.

Beth sat on the edge of the bed, watching her rockstar and sipping her coffee.  From time to time he would give her a bite of fruit, but the was never a time when he wasn't touch somewhere.  He was either holding her hand on his hand was on his leg.  He didn't want her out of arms reach.

"I let my boss know I wouldn't be in for a few days.  When do we leave?"  she inquires, knowing she's going to need time to pack.

He looks at the time, "It's 11:00 here, that makes it 2:00 in New York - we need to leave no later than 3:00.  That will give me time to sound check." he tells her, thinking to himself that they can leave whenever she is ready.

Beth hops up and says, "Good, that gives me time to go for a run, care to join me?"

"I would love too, let me take a piss and brush my teeth and we can go."  He slides the breakfast tray off to the side, Beth picks it up and takes it into the kitchen.  Jon gets out of bed naked and follows her into the kitchen, where he left his overnight bag.  Beth is rinsing dishes and putting them in the dishwasher.

"Would you like more coffee before we go?"  she asks, not wanting to dump the rest if he wants more.

"No, I'm good.  Thank  you though." he disappears with his overnight bag into the bathroom.

Beth finishes with kitchen clean up and goes to get dressed  She hasn't run with anyone in a while, can I do it without my earphones, she wonders.  Her closet is full of clothes for all occasions and all seasons.  She's thinking she needs to look special for this run.  She grabs the hot pink running suit that she just got from Victoria's Secret and decides that's the one she'll wear.

Walking into the bathroom where Jon is, she reaches in front of him and grabs her toothbrush and gets the toothpaste from the drawer. Applying paste to her brush she looks at the man in the mirror and it suddenly hit her.  There were camera's there last night.  Oh my God, am I in the newspaper again?  With that thought, she has planned the route that they will take, because she is stopping at the newsstand and taking a look.  She brushes her teeth and quickly washes her face and applies her sunscreen, with the extra that she has on her hand, she dabs a little on Jon's nose.  He laughs and says thanks.  She runs a brush through her hair and quickly puts it up in a ponytail.  She is ready and he looks like he is,too.

Both are set and ready to venture out on this late morning run, sunglasses on and Jon with his hat.  Out the door they go.  It's a beautiful run through Malibu, if you know where to go.  They were jogging along and talking, paying no attention to the fact that they were being followed by two young girls wearing blue jeans.

When Beth notices, she taps Jon with the back of her hand and says, "Do you know we're being followed?"  Without missing a beat.

Jon turns around and looks, and says, "I get that all of the time.  I have people following me that shouldn't even be jogging.  There have been a couple that I worried about, possible heart attack.  Ignore 'em.  They'll get tired before we do."

It took them about an hour to run the miles.  Neither were in any shape to have been jogging.  lack of sleep and not enough food for fuel, they both were feeling it.  They stopped and got water at a little newsstand just a few blocks from Beth's.  She had cash tucked in her sock so she went in and got the water, and glanced over the headlines in the newspaper.  She was a little shocked by what she had seen.  Her and Jon were on the cover of all the locals papers, and they even made the New York Times.  She grabbed a copy of each, pays for her choices and heads out to Jon.

Handing him his bottle of water, he says, "Thanks, what's all of that?"  Referring to all the newspapers she has tucked under her arm.

"Well, we made the cover of all the local papers and the NY Times." she tells him.

"How did I look?" he's laughing because he sees this is a concern to her.  "I had to do my own hair."

"We both looked great, what are you going to do about this?" she blurts out, at him - to him?

"Do about what?  Us being in the headlines?" he snaps back at her, thinking she better get used to this and get used to it fast.

"Yes, do you know how many people are going to see this, how many have already seen this?" she's getting upset, and it's surprising to Jon.  He thought she could handle this.

"The only thing I can do about that is stop seeing you.  That's the only way we won't be in the papers or on the news."  They start to walk to Beth's house, the topic of conversation makes it a speed walk.  "You are with a very famous person, I'm sure you know that.  People follow me, go through my trash, make things up - it's fame.  You need to accept that they are going to take our picture, Beth.  It's the price you pay for being with me."  making that statement firm, so she knows that there is nothing he can do about it.

"I just worry for your family, Jon.  I'm fine, I don't want this to affect your family."  meaning her and him in the news.

"My family know all about you.  Dorothea knows about you.  We did the right thing and told all that needed to be told, before the media reported it."  he puts his arm around her as they walk and says, "We have nothing to hide and no one to hide from.  We can do whatever we want and not worry about the press."  He pulls her close and kisses her, taking her mind off of the media.

They get back to her place and while Jon showers, she starts to pack.  She knows that she doesn't need to take much because she has clothes and stuff at her place in New York.  When Jon is done showering, he walks out into her room and sees her bag on the bed and says, "Is that all you're taking?  You're going to need more than that, I'm kidnapping you for more than a day or two."

"I have stuff in New York.  Kidnapping me?  Can you kidnap the willing?" she laughs at the thought of that.  Someone needing to be kidnapped to hang out with Jon.

She strips where she's at, throws her running clothes in the hamper and heads towards the shower.  To get to the  shower, she has to walk passed Jon.  This could be good, or this could be really good.  She heads in his direction and he stops her, puts his index finger in the middle of her chest.  She stops and smiles at him, he just wants to hug her and give her a kiss.  So he does.  Wrapping his arms around her, he knows her did the right thing.  He can feel his heart is right where it belongs.  In the hands of a woman that knows very little about him and wants nothing from him, but him.

She showers and then they are off to the waiting Bon Jovi plane.  On board and ready to leave, they are in chairs that face each other and she says to Jon, "I 'm thinking that you can kidnap me anytime."

They are on their way to New York...............

Water Ch. 43 - I Want You. 2005

"Hey, when did you guys get in?"  Asks Tammy, rubbing her eyes.  Finally seeing what she was looking at, she turned around embarrassed and said, "Oh my god, I am so sorry!"  she starts walking out.
Giving Jon a little push back, so they can get their clothes on, Beth says, "That's my assistant, Tammy.  I have no idea what she is doing here still.  I am so sorry."  She stands up, pulls her dress up and her dress down while Jon pulls up his pants. Beth went after Tammy to find out why she was still at her house.  When Beth left for the party, she had to run out and she told Tammy to lock up.

"What are you still doing here?" Beth asks, quite curious.  Tammy is slipping her shoes on, looking like she would rather be anywhere other than at her bosses house right now.

"After you left, I walked through the house and made sure everything was off.  I sat down on the couch and thumbed through your latest edition of Vogue and I must have fallen asleep.  Beth, I am so sorry.  Please tell Jon I am sorry."  Tammy grabs her purse off the foyer table and opens the door. "I'll see you tomorrow."  And she leaves.

Beth goes back into the kitchen and Jon was gone.  She shook her head and had a little laugh, at her own expense.  Poor Tammy, walking up and seeing that. Where did Jon go?  Beth grabbed her glass of wine and went to look for Jon.  She found him naked and in her shower.  She liked that.

Setting her glass on the bathroom counter she asked, "Is there room in there for two?"  As she opened the door, just to see, he grabbed her and pulled her into the shower.  "Jon, my dress...........!"

"There are plenty more where that came from."  He takes hold of the top of her dress and peels it off her like it was a peeling.  Once it hit the floor, he kicked it off into the corner.  Her panties and his shirt are still on the kitchen floor.

"But I like that one.  I loved that one." she kind of whimpers about it.  She really loved the dress, the way it fit her in all the right places.  She also liked the way people looked at her when she was wearing it.

"I can take you shopping for another one, come her and forget about the dress."  he doesn't give her the chance to respond, he puts his lips on hers and that was the end of that conversation.  He kissed her the way she had only seen in the movies, he kissed her the way all women want to be kissed.  Just enough tongue, just enough saliva and the right amount of teeth.  He is such an amazing kisser.  Please don't stop, she thinks to herself.  Her lips and her body responded in the way that it was supposed to.  She loved the way his ass felt in her hands, digging him just enough with her nails to drive him wild.  She loved running her hands up and down his back, everything about him felt great.  He really hooked her when he bit her chin, the nibble to drive anyone wild.  He kissed her neck like he was making love to it and that drove her insane.

They played so long in the shower that they ran out of hot water.  Both were cold and drying off when Beth asked Jon, "How long are you here?"  It dawned on her that they really haven't talked sine they left the party.  A little chit chat, but how long was he going to be in town?

"My plane is at the airport.  We don't have a return flight plan yet, why?"  he's toweling his hair and drying his ears.

"I just wondered.  I'm still shocked you're here.  What made you fly across the country?"

"I told you, I missed you." he honestly tells her why he's there.  He missed her.

"But you had a busy day today.  Interviews and a photo shoot.  Did you get all of those done?"  she is dying to know if he postponed or cancelled things for HER.  He didn't.

"I did get all of that done, plus a few other things.  The time change worked to my advantage today." impressed with himself.  "I got all of that done and flew to California.  Just to see you."

"How did you know where I would be?  The party was pretty hush hush."  she wonders who told him.  Who knew, that knew him?

"I called your office today and spoke with some guy.  I told him who I was and asked where the party was, I told him I misplaced my invitation and he gave me all the information I needed.  He even told me it was suit and tie."  he laughs because of what he gets simply because of who he is.  "He was a real nice kid."

"Must have been Trevor.  Thank you for coming out here, to see me."  with complete sincerity, "It was wonderful to see you again."  She hands him a mans bathrobe, with an explanation.  "Here, put this on.  It's brand new.  I bought it for myself, because it's heavier than a woman's and it's not as long.  No one has ever worn it but me.  And that's only been twice."  She's smiling at him, wondering if he is believing her.

"Thank you." taking it from her and putting it on.  "I can smell you.  Smells good."  He ties the tie in a not and kisses her on the head.  "What do you have to eat in this place?"  Walking out of the bathroom, "I need to run out to the car."  And away he goes.

Beth puts a night and panties on and leaves her hair in a towel.  She goes out into the kitchen looks at what she has to offer the rockstar to eat.  She is not one to grocery shop, she crave shops.  She has some cheeses, fruits, veggies and crackers.  She gets that out and starts to make a plate of snacks.

Jon is walking back in with a bag in his hand, his overnight bag.  He sets it down, next to the island, and sits on one of that bar stools.  "That actually looks really good.  Is there anymore wine left?" He's getting up to look in the fridge.

"Sit your ass down, I'll get you some more wine.  Where's your glass?" she demands he be a guest and let her play hostess.

"I think it's in the bathroom.  I'll go see." he starts to walk down the hallway and she says again, "Sit your ass down."  She runs after him.  He runs down the hall and Superman's onto her bed, and she tackles him.  Whispering in his ear, she says, "I told you to sit your ass down, I'll get the glasses."  Rolling round and playing with one another, Beth is loving this.  She feels alive.  She is falling for the rockstar.

Accepting defeat, Jon lays flat on his back, with his arms above his head and his robe open he says, "I give up, have your way with me."

Beth sitting next to him, on her knees, looks him up and down, while running her fingers through his chest hair says, "If I were to have my way with you, I would never make it into work in the morning."

She turns to climb off her bed, he grabs her and says, "Just where do you think you're going?"

She laughs and says, "You're going to need some carbs, I'm going to get you food and me some more wine.". She breaks away from his firm yet playful hold. He gets up and followers her to the kitchen.

"Hey babe, why do you need a place so big, if its just you?" Looking around as he makes his way to the kitchen. Beth's house is really way more than one person needs.

"I bought it dirt cheap, it's more of an investment than a home. I sleep here. I can't tell you the last time I used the living or family rooms. It stores my stuff." She's cubing cheese and slicing fruit and veggies.

"How did you end up at my show last week?" He asks, very out of the blue.

"What do you mean, how did I end up at your show? I drove my car, what do you mean?" She's a little puzzled by his question.

Grabbing the green pepper and carrots, she's standing there rinsing them and he continues with, "Your first show and you end up backstage? What made you do the tour?"

Shaking the excess water off of the vegetables, she tells him that the backstage tour was Amanda's idea. She was along for the ride.

"I'm a little irked by the cost of that backstage tour, but if I had known what I would get as a result of it, I may have done it sooner. I'm glad I did it." She smiles at him and he winks at her.

"What can I help you with?" He asks, wanting to be helpful.

"Can you get another bottle of wine out of the cooler. I think there's a Vino in there. I love that with cheese." She points to the direction of the cooler with her head, nodding.

Jon goes and gets a bottle of wine and walks up to her, kisses her neck and she quivers with chills from the kiss, and asks "Where is the cork screw?"

Beth steps back giving him room to open the drawer in front of her, "It's in there." He reaches in around her and gets the cork screw. The wine is uncorked and on ice. Beth has the snack cut up and put on a pretty plate.

"Do you want to eat out here, or go set in bed. What are your plans anyway? How long are you here?" She realizes they blew passed that subject.

"My body is telling me its 4:30 in the morning, can we do this in bed?" He grabs the wine and glasses and walks off to the bedroom. Beth grabs some napkins out of the drawer and the plate and follows her RockStar.

They climb into bed and Beth turns the TV on CNN. She was a news buff, and wanted to see what's going on in the world. Jon props himself up on pillows and kicks back with a glass of wine. Beth can see he's exhausted.

"I don't want you to go to work tomorrow, or rather today, I mean." He tells his new lover, and he means it.

"Um, why?" She was a little surprised by that, it was a random statement.

"I want to lay in bed with you all day. I know that's selfish, but I'm honest. And I know it's not fair of me to say that, but my time is limited and I want to spend some of my free time with you." Watching the expression on her face, he thinks he's losing this one.

"Jon, I have a job to do." Taking a bite of cheese.

"I know, I'm sorry I'm not being fair. And it's kinda early to be so demanding but I have tomorrow free, until evening. Don't you have vacation time you can use?" He takes a few slices of green pepper and takes a bite. She reaches over and takes the remaining green peppers out of his hand and eats it.
"Let me get this straight, you want me to take the day off work and lay around with you until you have to leave?" She says it with a little bit of playfulness.
"Or you can come to NY with me?" He says with all seriousness.
She grabs a chunk of watermelon and puts it to his lips, he opens his mouth and takes the piece of melon quite seductively. The she leans over and kisses him.
"And what would I do in New York? You have a busy schedule." She running many scenarios through her head. One being she could shop till she dropped. She shakes her head, what am I thinking?

"Babe, it's the city that never sleeps. The possibilities are endless. We could spend a lot more time together if you're with me. That is if that's what you want to do. If not, we can make time. I don't want to scare you off or smother you..I just want to get to know you!" He really feels something for this women that came into his life at the right time. The perfect time.

Getting excited she throws her arms around him and says, "Okay, I can go for a few days. Will that work?"

"It's a great start! Thank you!!" Picking up watermelon and putting it between his lips, leaning into her, she takes the watermelon from his mouth. She chews it and tells him watermelon is her favorite!

She slides down into bed under the covers and reaches over and places her hand on his chest, his oh so sexy chest. Rubbing it, she can see that he's relaxing and could possibly fall asleep. "Hey, set your wine in the night stand before you doze off and spill it on the bed." He does as he's told. He then rolls over and they are face to face, looking at her with such curiosity and desire, he says "Thank you for coming into my life." and he nods off to sleep. She moves in and kisses him goodnight. He stirs, pulls her closer and they both drift of into dreamland.

Water Ch. 42 - I Believe 2011

"Can you talk?"  she asks with the lump in her throat hurting worse by the second.

"Of course I can.  I am happy to hear your voice." she can tell that he's telling the truth.

"Are you busy?" a part of her hopes that he is and hopes that he can't talk - because she really isn't ready.  She just had this overwhelming feeling to call him.

"I'm not busy, not busy at all.  What's up?" he questions, getting up to pace the floor of his empty mansion.  The children all went with their mother shopping in NYC.

"We need to talk." she's crying at this point and that makes her angry.  She doesn't want to cry over him or because of him anymore.  She's done that enough.

"Over the phone or do you want to meet somewhere?" crossing his fingers, he's hoping she wants to meet.

"I'm in the city, can you come into the city?  Or I can come to you." she doesn't care at this point.  She just wants to talk and get some things off her chest.

"Why don't you come here.  We can walk down by the river." he says praying she agrees.

"Okay, I'm leaving work.  I'll be there as soon as I can." And she hangs up.

Jon stops pacing and stands there.  He is so shocked and suddenly very nervous.  Thinking to himself, Shit I have to go shower.  He heads up stairs and hits the shower.

She gets her things gathered and starts to head out.  She ran into Tammy.  "Where are you going at this hour?  It's still daylight." Tammy says to her boss.

Without stopping or missing a step, Beth says, "New Jersey." And keeps on walking.  Tammy smiles and watches her boss walk away.  A woman that if given the right circumstances, could rule the world.

Beth goes down and gets in her car and drives to Red Bank.  With the windows down and just her thoughts keeping her company.  She is certain that this is a mistake, what does she really expect to come of it.  Anything good?  She really doesn't know if she's ready, but she can't let it go on like this.

He knows where she lives....would he every truly let her go?  Or better yet, can she ever forgive him?  She has to have her say, the say he never let her have.  She needs to tell him what he did to her, when he forced her out of his life.  He has to see, he has to know by now that she wasn't the responsible one.  It wasn't her that did it, it was his wife.

In the shower, he decided not to shave.  He remembers that Beth absolutely loves the after 5 look  and he was rocking the after midnight look. He hurried, dried and applied some Right Guard then got out her favorite Levi's and t-shirt and put them on.    He was feeling and acting like he was in high school.  He's foolish to think he can win her back this way.  Naturally, she has matured and it takes more than faded Levi's and a t-shirt to give her heart away, again.

Arriving at the Red Bank house was almost more than she could take.  She cannot believe that she was back at this house, fretting over this man.  Millions of women would beg for this opportunity, and here she is almost throwing it away.

She loves him, oh god does she love him, but she loves herself, too.  And lately, she's been winning the war.  She has finally been able to talk about them, about him and some of their past.  She tried very hard to put him in the past, and it was working.  But that must not be what God wants, otherwise he might not have never seen her walking in Red Bank?!?

She makes it to the door and reaches for the doorbell as the door opens.  She has her work clothes on and her favorite Stuart Weitzman shoes, which is good because she feels a little bit more 'powerful' and in control.  If she had her confidence, she was good.

Standing back, he smile and says, "Come in. You look great!"  Closing the door behind her, he leads her into the family portion of the house.

"I don't want this to take all night, Jon." she's certain he would let it take all night, that he would WANT it to take all night.

"Let's go into the living room.  It's more comfortable there.  Can I get you anything to drink?"  he politely asks his guest.

Nodding her head no, she looks him up one side and down the other - and damn, he looks good.  She notices the stubble and the jeans.  She loved him in Levi's.  Always has, always will.
She sits down on the floral sofa and Jon sits on the ottoman across from her. She looks at him and thinks how can I love him this much and be so pissed at him? And pissed isn't really the word to describe it.

He leans over, giving her is undivided attention and reaches for her hand. She pulls away, "Please don't." She sits back further on the couch. "I need you to listen to me Jon. Don't talk and don't touch me. Can we do this?"
He simply nods his head yes and says, "I'm listening, go ahead."

"I'm sorry that I allowed you back in here, placing her hands on her chest, (referring to her heart) this past weekend and I'm even more sorry about what WE (emphasizing on the we) did to Dot. That was wrong, you never should have let that happen, let alone cause it to happen. I'm sorry that we made love and I'm sorry that I started to feel for you again. I'm sorry if I led you on in anyway, I'm sure you are just as confused as I have been, but this, me and you, can't happen. It can't. I lost so much when I lost McKenna and then you. Life is finally" she's crying now, "getting to some color of normal. I can't do it." She's exhausted. She puts her head in her hands and says, "It can't happen."
He watches her every word, heard every word she said and it broke his heart to hear those words, looking at her with so much love and adoration he says, "Can I say something?"

"Of course you can, Jon. I just needed to get that out without interruption." She still has her head in her hands and she looks up at Jon. He lets out a little laugh because Beth's make up is smeared and she slightly resembles a raccoon.  He walks over and gets her a few tissues from the end table and hands then to her.

"I love you! You have no idea how much, hell, I didn't know how much until you we're gone. And then it really hit me when we were in the hotel room. Babe, I have missed you and yes, I wanted to find you and make things right with you. But I knew better. When you left, I really thought I would never see you again. I was heartbroken too. I had to deal with losing you and my daughter, along with all of the bullshit from Dorothea."

He sits back down on the ottoman, grabs her hand and continues. "I don't expect you to understand, and I don't and never have expected you to just take me back. I would be happy starting over as friends. You know we love each other and you know we would be awesome together again. Babe, we were so fucking happy! Can you deny that?" He continues to ignore her request to not be touched, he gently reaches over and puts his finger on her lips. "Beth, I love you!"  She couldn't help herself, she kissed his finger.

"Jon, and I love you but you need to stop. This time you need to let me go. Please!  It's really too much for me to handle all over again.  I have been through hell and I feel like I am finally back.  I enjoyed EVERY second we spent together lately and the sex was great, BUT that's it." She gets up and walks over to the window.  Looking out she sees people kayaking and paddle boating, she thinks to herself, I bet they're happy and have alot less complications in their life.

He walks up behind her and puts his hands on her shoulder, she is startled, but she doesn't pull away.  He can't help himself, he kisses that back of her head and breathes in her beautiful smell.  He has always loved the way she smells.  She puts her head back and rests on Jon's chest.  She asks him, "Jon, do you really believe I would ever hurt you intentionally?  EVER?"

He wraps his arms around her and tells her, "Back then I was a nut job.  If someone had told me the sky was purple, I would have believed them.  That's what I need you to see, honey - when we ended, I wasn't myself.  Losing McKenna hit me like a mack truck.  I have never had anything like that happen to me before and I had no idea how I was supposed to act."  They stood there looking out the window and she was back in the safety of his arms, but there was so much more lacking.  So much dead debris in her heart and so many shadows.  Forgiveness was a long way off and forgetting was never going to happen.

"When I lost McKenna, I lost a very big part of myself.  It took me forever to even say her name out loud.  I stayed in my house as long as I could, until I got to the point where I dreaded going home.  I would work 20 hour days to not go home.  Moving helped, moving helped alot.  Leaving behind her bedroom, that we painted and decorated.  Leaving those words on the wall that you painted, oh God that was hard.  The lyrics and the moon, I wanted to take those pieces of the walls with me." Her thoughts are all over the place right now and there wasn't an easy way to keep up, so he just listened.
"It took me 4 months to even go in her room.  The gifts that we got at our last shower, do you remember that shower Jon, the couples shower, the gifts from that never made it into her bedroom.  They were in the guest room until I moved.  I never got the chance to open and wash stuff before she came, and then when she was gone - I didn't know what  to do with the stuff.  People that hadn't heard the news were sending me "Welcome the new baby cards' for weeks after she was gone.  I bet I got at least 20."

She pulls away and looks out another window, hoping a new view might help.  It didn't.  "Beth, how could I have helped you with that stuff if you didn't tell me about it?  The things in the guest room, I could have taken care of that.  With you being you, I figured there was a reason they weren't in her room yet.  Why would I have questioned that?  The cards, you never told me about the cards.  I couldn't help you, cause you never told me."  He's looking at her with empathy and wants nothing more than to just hold her.

Facing him with tears in her eyes, "Jon, the guest room and the mail were just pre-cursors to what was coming.   I seen it coming.  The loss of McKenna was the door that Dorothea needed and you let her right in.  What is it with you and open doors?"  Beth lets out a little chuckle.  "Bottom line here Jon is this, I believe that too much has happened between us, to us and with us to ever go back.  I do want you to know that I do love you and I will always love you - but there is NO way in hell, I would carry your baggage anymore.  And the only baggage I'm referring to is your wife.  She has done way too much for me to even let her become a slice of my life, and if I were with you, she would have to be, you share children."  She feels great, she just bottom lined it and it all came out great.  She nailed it.  Was it because she was still in her powersuit and shoes, or was it Beth excercising her back bone against a man that made her weak in the knees.  She did know that this talk wasn't over.

"Can you take a minute and put yourself in my situation, cause I can honestly tell you - I have thought about this from all angles and I don't think you have looked at it from mine.' he asks her, and he's getting a little upset now.

"Which angle is that Jon?" she really wants to know what he thinks here.  Because she knows she has looked at it from all angles.  What could he possibly have to say that would change any of this?  He looks sullen and beaten down now and she feels a little bad, but not bad enough to let up or grab on.  She is there for the right reason.

Water Ch. 40 - These Arms Are Open All Night 2005

Finishing up her day at work was no relief to her.  Now she had to go home and put on a damn cocktail dress and head out to that party.  Driving home, with the radio up, she had missed a call from Jon.  Damn it! she said to herself.  I'll call him when I get home.
Walking into the house she returned Jon's call.  It rang and rang and then went to voicemail.  She left a short and simple message, Hi Jon it's Beth.  Sorry I missed your call.  Call me when you get a minute.  Until next time.  And she hung up.

She went on with her night, she had to shower, pick out her dress, Tammy was coming over to do her hair and she needed to get to the party before 9:00.  Ugh, she doesn't want to go.
Wrapped in a towel, she goes and lets Tammy in.  "Hi there, thanks for doing this for me.  I was just going to pull it up, but a ponytail wouldn't look good with the dress I picked."

"Oh, what dress did you pick?"  Tammy wondered because Beth never mentioned a thing at the office about her dress.

"I picked the one that Jon bought me.  The little black dress.  It's amazing, come look at it." she drags Tammy into her walk in.

Tammy sees the dress and asks, "Is that the $6000.00 dress?"  With her hands over her mouth.

Beth nods and says, "Isn't it beautiful?"  Tammy had to touch it.  She's never seen anything like it.  "Do you think it's too much?  To dressy for a cocktail party?"  Beth asks her assistant.

"God no, you'll be the hottest thing in there, it's perfect.  You have to wear it.  You do know that there is a red carpet and all that, tight?"

"Yeah, I know.  Come on.  I need my hair done, I'm running out of time.  Josh said the car would be here at 8:50.........."  They run off into the bathroom and Tammy creates the cutest little up do for Beth.  It's adorable.   She is ready to knock them dead.

There is a buzz at the door, Beth says, "That's my car.  Please lock up, thank you!"  and runs out of the house to the waiting car.

Arriving at the party, the car pulls up to the red carpet and Beth steps out.  Paparazzi were snapping pictures and yelling for Beth, "Beth where's Jon?  Beth over here.  Beth is Jon getting a divorce?"  She wasn't expecting that.  Never even gave it a thought.  She felt SO small, and so alone.

There was eye candy on staff to escort single women and men up the red carpet and into the gala.  As soon as she got into the gala, she headed to the bar and asked the bartender for a drink.  She stood there or a moment and let the hub bub die down.

As far as she knew, no one at her work really knew about Jon. Tammy picked up pieces here and there throughout the day, but didn't ask questions.

She makes her way through the crowd and up to the client that she had just signed.  He was a man of wealth and fame, but to her that meant nothing. She seen him as a commission check, cha ching.  She extended her hand and said, "Good Evening Mr. Buffet.  How are you?"  He shook her hand and kissed her on the cheek.

"Hello Beth.  How are you?  You look absolutely beautiful."  he embarrasses her, that was rare.

"Well, thank you, sir.  Are you enjoying yourself?" she needed someone else to talk, she wasn't feeling up to the show, she wasn't in the mood to wow a client.

"I am, thank you.  This is a beautiful set up.  I appreciate your firms effort in making me feel welcome." Smiling at her, he continues with, "I know I made the right decision is moving."

"We know you will be very happy with us, sir.  Is there anything I can get you?" she hopes he's good and she can make her way into the corner.

"No Miss Adams, I think I am fine.  Thank you though." he replies, standing there with other men that she has no idea who they are.

"Excuse me please?" she says as she starts to walk away.  She needed to sit down.  It had finally occurred to her she hadn't eaten very much today, she needed a bite to eat.  She would probably feel better.  She looked around for an hoer derv table and she spotted one.  She walked over and got herself a little plate of cheeses and shrimp.  She's sure that would make her feel better.

Once she had all that she wanted, she went and found her place setting.  There were other people at the table that she knew.  The higher ups at her firm and their wives.  She was the only unmarried one at the table.

Making small talk was easy when you're at a table of hot headed, over inflated ego's.  The only issue that Beth had, was the issues the wives had with her.  She couldn't help it that she was pretty and friendly and the only woman in the firm with COE after her name.  First in the history of the company.  It's not her fault that these guys probably go home and talk about her, Beth was a force to be reckoned with.  She is the woman wives love to hate.

Dinner was served and everyone was happy.  The cocktail party honoring/welcoming Warren Buffett was very successful and everyone had a great time.  Beth even enjoyed herself a little bit.  She was getting ready to leave, feeling like she had given enough at the gala.  She grabbed her purse and went over to Mr. Buffett and excused herself.  He thanked her for a wonderful evening and told her that he would see her again real soon.  Beth appreciated that.

Walking out onto what is now just the side walk, as the red carpet has been removed, she is looking for her car.  It's chilly out and she forgot a wrap, so she was cold waiting on her car.

As she was standing there, day dreaming, someone approached her and put a jacket over her shoulders.  For a split second she was startled, and then her thought went to Josh, one of her co -workers, but when she turned around and seen it was Jon, she about died.

Water Ch. 39 - On Any Other Day 2005

Walking into his office, before turning on the lights - he could see city lights for miles.     It was a beautiful thing to see.   He stood there for a few minutes in a daze, kind of like a daydream.  Snapping out of it, he grabs his cigarettes, phone and his bottle of water and steps out on the small patio.  It wasn't very big, but it was big enough for him to sit there and chill for a few minutes.

Dialing her number, he's thinking it 9 o'clock out there, I wonder if she'd still up?

"I've been expecting your call."  He can hear the smile in his voice.  It was like music to her ears.

"Sorry, I'm calling so late.  Richie and Ava just left to go to Richie's moms.  I would have called sooner." He is really hoping that it's not too late.

"No, this is fine.  I just got everything done I needed to get done, with the exception of watering my patio plants.  But I can do that while talking.  How was the show?"  She asks with great enthusiasm.

"The show was good, it was alot of fun.  It was nice knowing the kids had fun."  He tells her, thinking about Romeo and the fun he had.  The bigger kids wore him out.  Jon's just sitting there, smiling.

"I'm glad you had a good night, and some time with your kids.  What do you have on your agenda tomorrow?" Making conversation, she hopes she's not being to personal?  And then she corrects herself, you've had sex wit him, ask him anything you want.

"All that I can remember that I have to do is an interview at NBC in the morning and a photo shoot tomorrow afternoon.  There's stuff in between, I'll get all the information from Dawn in the morning."  Dawn is Jon's personal assistant.  His walking day planner.  He would be lost without her.

"A photo shoot?  I've always thought they looked like fun." playing with the man on the other end of the line.

"They can be fun, it depends on the photographer and what we're being photographed for.  Tomorrow it's just album promotion, so it will be quick and easy."  He tells her.  "I know there's another interview in there somewhere."

"It's good that you'll have a full day.  Busy is good.  Will you get to see the kids again?"

"Busy is good, it takes my mind off of other things and keeps my kind of focused.  The kids, I don't think I 'll see them tomorrow afternoon, my mom wanted them for something.  Crap, I forgot to tell Dot...."  He's making a mental note to call his soon to be ex and remind her of that.

"So you'll have a busy day - that's good.  My day is pretty full tomorrow too.  At the office all day and then a cocktail party tomorrow night.  We have a new client and the bosses want to roll out the red carpet.  I am so not looking forward to it."  she tells him and he can hear her tone is that of someone that doesn't like cocktail parties.

"Parties are fun, dress up and enjoy yourself."  He's now laughing at her, because  he knows she doesn't want to go.

"It's not that I hate parties, I just hate going alone.  Plus, when you go out to have a good time - do you really want to talk about work?  I don't."

"Well, then don't go."  offering her the suggestiion, letting her know she has free will.  She doesn't HAVE to go.

"No, I'll go - it's my client and Josh, my boss thinks it's imperative that I be there, and he's probably right." sounding defeated, she chuckles and says, "Yeah, I'm going to a cocktail party."

"Let's change the subject.  What did you do tonight?" he wonders what she did wit ther evening, she knew all about his.

"Not much, a little laundry, cleaned the bathrooms and changed my linens - I just puttered around keeping busy.  I even had Bon Jovi playing on the stereo."  He can hear her smile again.  And that makes him smile.

"You like that band?" he razzes her, "I think they suck.  The lead singer is old." HE laughs.  "I can't talk to a woman that like that band."

"Well, I think the lead singer is kind of cute, and their music isn't the greatest - but I had to give it a shot."

"Which album were you listening to?"

"Slippery When Wet, why?"

"Ehh, not out best work.  But it's one of my favorites." Trying to not sound conceded, he confesses, "I think out best is New Jersey"

"New Jersey is my favorite, hands down.  Wild Is The Wind is my favotite song." She feels a little embarrased, here she is telling a rock star, that she has slept with, what her favorite song is, of his.  Sounding a little groupie, she thought.

"That song is one of my favorites, and lyrically one of my best.  I'm glad you like it."

She hears him yawning and suddenly she felt a little selfish.  It was late in New York and he has to be exhausted.

"Hey, you should get to bed.  You need to be looking pretty tomorrow for your interview and your shoot."  Getting off the phone is the last thing she wants to do.

"You're probably right, but I just want to talk to you." he says, with a little whine.

"We can talk tomorrow, you should get to bed Jon.  Call me tomorrow, okay?" trying to not sound bummed they were hanging up.

"Okay, I'll call you tomorrow between this and that."

"Sounds good.  Can't wait.  Call me at my office or on my cell."  She wants him to know that it's okay to call whenever.  She will make time for him.

"Until next time."  Now she can hear the smile on his face.

"Until next time, have a great night."

And they hung up the phone.

Water Ch. 38 - Destination: Anywhere 2005

2005

It was show time.  Jon had the boys with him, and Lupetta, of course.  The boys were happy to see Ava and Richie was glad that the kids all got to hang out together.  There isn't any blood between them and that didn't matter - they were family.  The kids were lucky enough in the fact that the tour was planned and packed with kids in mind.  They made sure that they left space on a truck so they could bring the kids bikes and stuff to keep them busy back stage.  It was a little harder with Romeo, but that's what they have Lupetta for.

She was the nanny, but she was quickly becoming family.  She was a down on her luck runaway, that ran into Jon a few years back behind Giant's Stadium.  He had popped out back for a break during sound check one day and she was back there looking for aluminum can, to turn in for scrap money.  She was 21 when he hired her and she has been a very important part of their life.  Lupetta had family, that lived in California - how she ended up in New Jersey was the result of a man.  She followed a man to New Jersey and he left her high and homeless.

Just like all Bon Jovi employees, Lupetta had to sign a gag order.  She is bound by law to keep everything she sees, hears and knows about Jon and his family to herself.   She has done a great job and Jon is very pleased with his decision about hiring her.  He and Dorothea had a fight over it, because she was Spanish, but Jon didn't care.  He thought that the diversity would be good for the kids.  And he was right - the kids are fluent in Spanish, to their age level.  He loved that.  Lupetta was very good to the kids and Jon loved when she would hang out with them 'after work'.  She would usually get done working around 5pm, but on some nights she would work later.  Nights like tonight.  It was a special day for the kids because Ava was in town and they all were going to do the show with their dads.

Lupetta kept all of the Bongiovi children and the one Sambora child in check all night long.  Romeo was her biggest challenge, but she had found a wagon and was able to make use of that and pull him up and down the backstage halls.  Romeo loved it.  By the time the show was over, he fell asleep and was just waiting for his daddy to take him home.  Jake was on his last leg, waiting for daddy to get done.  Jesse was a whole other story.  He and Ava were running skateboards up and down the hallways, as if they were long lost friends and have never missed a beat.  They stayed in touch and even if Ava came to New York with her mom, they always made it a point to see the Bongiovi children.

The kids are secured in the car just before Bon Jovi go onstage to do their final song.  The lights go out and with in seconds, the Prudential Center is all lit up.  Bon Jovi is out the back door and in their provided cars.  The car for Jon has Jake, Romeo and Lupetta in it and the car for Richie has Jesse and Ava.  Off they go before too many press people and fans get out back.   It was decided backstage that since they were in Newark, they would all just go to SoHo.  Both cars made there way into New York City, with the final destination on Mercer St.

Pulling up in front of the trendy SoHo loft, Jon was surprised to see there weren't any fans out front.  He hated taking his children through that, and with Richie and Ava being with him - it would have been ten times worse.  Luck was on his side, he was able to get home without incident.

There were two sleeping little guys and they needed to get upstairs to bed.  Jon carried Jake and Lupetta had Romeo.  They carried the boys to their room and readied them for bed.  Trying very hard not to wake either, because the little guys were tough to get back to sleep once they're woke up.  Mission accomplished.  They went back downstairs where Richie was on his cell phone, and the kids, Jesse and Ava, had just turned on MTV.  They acted like they were brother and sister.  Fighting, picking on one another.

Jon asked Richie, "Can I get you anything?'  Trying not to be rude while he's on the phone.

"No man, I'm good.  Thanks." says Richie and he gets back to his telephone conversation.

"Lupetta, thank you so much for working late tonight.  By the looks of the boys they had a great time.  I really appreciate you being there."  Jon walks up to his hired hand and gives her a hug.

"Will you need me anymore tonight then?" She asked her employer.  She didn't think he would, but she wanted to be sure.

"No, I think I'm all set.  Again", putting his hands together like he was going to pray, "thank you!"

"No problem, Jon.  Anytime.  I'll see you tomorrow, or are they going back with Dorothea?  Lupetta is not sure what her schedule looks like for tomorrow.

"I'm taking them back to Dorothea tomorrow.  So, I guess touch base with her in the morning and see what she needs."  He walks her to the door, she leaves and walks the 5 blocks home.

Turning his attention to his son and guests, Richie tells him that a car is on the way for him and Ava, Richie was going to his moms. Jon was a little surprised, yet a little relieved.  He was keeping an eye on the time.  He could call Beth after 10:00pm EST if he wanted to.  And he wanted too.  It was creeping up on midnight.

He and Richie sat at the bar and had a bottle of water and discussed the concert, while they waited for the car.  Jon says, "You know, you could have taken my car.  You didn't need to get a service."

Richie tells him not to worry about it.  It was all good.

The car had arrived and they all said goodnight.  Richie reminded Jon that they have an interview on NBC tomorrow at 9am.  Jon forgot all about that one.

Hugged his brother and his brothers daughter goodbye and locked the door behind them.  Walking back into the living room, he tells his oldest boy to be good, there wasn't much to graze on and that he'd be in his office.

Jesse yells to his dad, "Tell Beth I said Hi."  Jon keeps walking and just smiles.

Water Ch. 37 - Dirty Little Secret 2011

2011

Being the mistress of a rock star was very difficult.  It was even more difficult when you love that rock star.  She wanted to forget him, she wanted him to be a thing of her past - she wanted to wake up from this nightmare and she knew that she wasn't going to.

Water Ch. 36 - I Don't Like Mondays 2011

2011

Feeling like he had said all he could say, the song was done.  Now he just needed to go out into the studio and write the music.  Lately, he thought that the lyrics were the easy part - but now he wonders if he can come up with music good enough for these lyrics.  He's questioning himself, and he never does that anymore.  Realizing that it's late and he does need to rest, he heads up to bed and passes out from mental exhaustion.  He has had enough of this day, and can only hope tomorrow is better.

Water Ch. 35 - Bounce 2005

Pulling into the driveway at the Navesink River house Jon had a bunch of emotions. They ranged from excitement to fear. He's missed his children and was so looking forward to seeing them. He wasn't going to let the fear of the unknown ruin his time with them.

He parked his BMW next to Dorothea's Lexus and walked into the house. He could here the kids and that was music to his ears. He found his family in the kitchen. All of the kids were dressed, except Stephanie.

"Daddy!" Jon hears as he rounds the island in the kitchen. Romeo runs up to him and hugs his leg. Jon bends down and picks his young son up, kissing him on the cheek.

"Hey little man, how are you?" he asks Romeo, knowing he wasn't going to get an answer. He just kissed his son over and over. Romeo found dad's necklace and started to play with it.

"Hi dad. What are we doing today?" Jesse asked, looking back over his shoulder at his dad. Jesse was in the refrigerator, looking just to look.

"Yeah dad, what are we going to do today?" Says Jake from the breakfast nook. He just mimicked what his big brother just said. He had just finished his waffles.

"Well, boys - Ava is in town so were going to go see her and Richie and then I have a show tonight in Newark. Do you want to come?" he knows the answer before he asks, all he had to say was Ava Sambora and the boys were hooked. The crush that they had on her was so cute.

Both boys nodded in agreement that they wanted to go to dads show tonight, because Ava was going to be there.

Looking at his daughter, sitting at the island with what looked like soup he said, "What's up baby girl? Not feeling well?" she's his first and his favorite. That's daddy's little girl, regardless how big she got.

Shaking her head no, she asks her dad if she can stay home? "I don't feel like a show dad, you don't mind if I stay here do you?" He walks over to her and feels her forehead. She is warm. Rubbing her face with his fingers, he says "I don't mind. Will your mom be here?" Looking around he asks, "Where is your mom?"

Lupetta, the nanny was tidying up the kitchen. She looked at Jon and said, "She's in the gym." He acknowledges that she answered him and takes Romeo and heads to the gym.

He walks into the gym and she's in there doing stretches. He looks her up and down, with no feeling.

"Hey, how long has Stephanie been sick?" He asks right out of the gate.

"Well, hello to you to Jon. She started getting sick last night. Why?" Dorothea barks back. She's had it with the way he's been talking to her, lately.

"Is it just the flu? Should we call the doctor?" he sets Romeo down and he goes over to the fitness trampoline and starts to bounce. He loves that thing.

"No, it's just the flu. She'll be fine. She's had soup and she's sipping water. It's just a bug." she tries to satisfy his abnormal worry.

"She doesn't want to come with me, are you going to be here tonight? I don't want her left alone?" he wishes Steph felt better. When she comes to his shows, he lets her pick out the shirt he's going to wear.

"Yeah, I'll be here. Michelle and Julie are coming over for cocktails and a movie. She can hang out with us and watch chick flicks." Dot had alot of friends, so many he stopped trying to keep up with it.

Jon is satisfied with that answer and he knows that Dot will stay home. His baby girl was sick and she needed to be at home, with a parent. He has wished on many occasions that he had a job that he could call in to, so he could stay home and take care of a sick child. He was not able to do that.

Dot stands up, pulling her foot up behind herself, balancing on one foot and asks Jon, "SO, how do we want to handle this? How do we tell the kids that we are getting a divorce" she switches legs, "and that they will live in two houses?" She continues on with her stretches like the words that came out of her mouth meant nothing.

"I think we need to be honest, totally honest with them. They are smart kids, they will understand." he dreads the talk they needed to have with their children. "And, there is no need to mention Beth. Beth came into the picture well after papers were filed."

"Why can't I mention her then? If it's so innocent, Jon?" she's getting cocky, on the verge of condescending.

"Dorothea, they don't need to be fed bullshit right from the start. Beth is a part of my life and I hope she remains as such, but if you start now with bashing her and blaming her, then she'll never have a chance with the kids. Why would you want to do that? They will love her." Jon defends a woman he hardly knows, and his reason is for his children. He is sure that the kids will love Beth.

"Fine, we won't mention her. I just get a little jealous and I feel like such a fool sometimes. Plus, who wants to accept blame for their marriage ending?" finsihing with her stretches, she goes over to the treadmill and starts with a slow walk. Romeo manages to walk over to his mom and tries to get on the treadmill with her. Dorothea picks him up and set him on the treadmill. He only wanted to ride it to the end and have her put him back and and then run it to the end. And repeat.

"We both are to blame, but I think we both agree, it's over. Right?" he looks to her, looking for a nod or any sign that she agrees.

"Yes, we agree. And I'm sorry for giving you a hard time about Beth. When I seen her on the news, I was impressed. How did you hook a smart one Jon?" she's now laughing at that comment.

"Knock it off, Dot. She really is wonderful. I think you'll even like her, once you let yourself."

"I'll wait a while to meet her, if you don't mind?" she is now walking on the treadmill and Romeo went back to the trampoline and started bouncing.

"You can meet her whenever. Did you get a copy of my schedule?" he needs to be sure she knows what's up with him, and when he would be taking the children.

"Yep, there was one on the fax machine yesterday. You're taking the kids to the show tonight?" she asked because she wasn't sure if the kids wanted to go.

"The boys are going, cause Ava is in town. My little gigolo's. I'll take them to SoHo after the show. Tomorrow, I have a few interviews and a photo shoot." saying it out loud so he knows it's right in his own head. He's been scrambled for the last couple of days, he wanted to be sure.

"Like father, like sons, the little gigolo's, funny Jon. Is Heather in town or just Ava?" Dorothea and Heather were great friends, but the ripple in her relationship with Richie made it hard for Dot to stay in touch. She thought she had to divide her loyalty.

"It's just Richie and Ava, as far as I know." He walks over to Romeo and picks him up. "Are you ready little man, we need to go to grandma's"

Looking at his future ex wife, he said "Let's go get this done." Meaning, let's go tell the kids that their mom and dad will no longer be together.

She turns off the treadmill and they walk down the hallway and up the stairs to get back into the kitchen. Stephanie is no longer sitting at the island, she's at the table with Jake and Jesse.

"Kids." Jon says with firmness. Jesse and Stephanie are sitting in the breakfast nook eating some fruit that Lupetta had just sliced for them.

"Yeah dad?'" says the eldest son. "What's up?"

Jon goes over to Lupetta and hands her Romeo. "Lupetta, can you get him and Jake ready ready to go? I'll need an overnight bag, please." She takes the boys and says, "Sure, no problem." And off she goes with Romeo and Jacob.

Jon and Dorothea sit at the table with their eldest son and only daughter. Dot says, "Your dad and I have something to tell you." Looking for Jon to jump in at anytime.

The kids look at their parents and wait for the something. They could tell that their mom and dad were uneasy and not looking forward to the talk. Jon gets up and helps himself to a cup of coffee. Why wouldn't he? It's his house.

Sitting back at the table, Jon just comes out and says it, "You guys know we love you and we want what's best for you - but the fact is, you're mom and I are getting a divorce." And he waited for a response. "The only thing that this means is that your mom and I will no longer be living together. You will be with me, wherever and with your mom in whichever house she wants."

"This has nothing to do with the woman that's on the news with you dad?" questions Jesse. Jon is a little caught off guard by that, but he's glad it's been asked.

"No, this has nothing to do with the lady I have been spotted with. Her name is Beth. Kids, let's stay on track here. Are you understanding what we are telling you?" the sound of her name made him tingle, he wanted to see her.

"I kind of figured this out on my own dad. You and mom are never together anymore. If we're here, you're in NY. If we're in NY, you're here. It's not hard to put the puzzle together." Jesse, a little wiser than he should be at his age, growing up with a rock star father, he really had no choice but to grow up a little faster.

Under the weather and the daughter of her father, Stephanie makes no bones about what she has to say, "Will you two finally be happy?" She puts her head on the table and says to her mother, "This is what you wanted to talk to us about?" She's irritated.

Dorothea says, "Yes, Steph this is what your dad and I wanted to talk to you about. We wanted you to hear it from us, before you heard anything from anyone else. We know how blown out of proportion things can get when they are in the press." she sighs, heavy.

"Your mother and I have gone in different directions and we decided the best thing to do is to separate. Neither one of us did anything to hurt the other one, it's just sometimes people grow apart and in different directions." Jon tells his children and they watch his every word.

"Then who is Beth?" says the female version of Jon Bon Jovi. She's sick, irritated and now she's questioning her dad.

"Beth is a woman that I met in L.A. when I was out there last. She did one of those stupid backstage tours that uncle Matt does. She kind of caught me off guard. She's in finance and she lives in L.A. Is that what you wanted to know?" kind of defensive and feeling cornered.

"And she has nothing to do with this divorce?" Stephanie is ready, she's on the attack.

"She has nothing to do with the divorce. I only met her a couple of weeks ago. And I want you both to know, I would never lie to you about anything." he reassures his children. He wants them to know that they are his biggest priority and they will get nothing but facts from their dad.

"So, when do we meet her?" Stephanie just can't stop. "We seen you on the news dad. You two were quite close in Las Vegas."

"Meeting her can wait, we want to make sure that you're okay with the divorce. We want to know that you understand what's going to happen."

"Dad, we know what's going on. Nothing is going to change. Except you will not be married anymore. You will keep doing your music and mom will adopt a project. We will go to school and see our friends. What's the big deal?" she's pissed now because she feels like her is questioning her intelligence.

Dot jumps in and says, "Stephanie Rose, this is a big deal. Your parents are telling you that they are no longer going to be married and you want to be a smart ass about it?"

"Mom, really? When is the last time that you and dad slept under the same roof?" with a there I told you look.

Dorothea shakes her head and says, "You win. Do you have any questions or concerns?" Looking at both kids.

Neither have questions or concerns. Stephanie gets up, kissed her dad on the head and says, "I'm going to bed. Bye dad. I love you." and she disappears out of the kitchen. Jesse is sitting there, a little dazed.

"Jes, are you okay?" Jon asks as he reaches over to pick on him.

"I'm okay dad." Jesse really is okay, all he can think about now is the show tonight. Jon tells his son to go get ready to go.

"Where are we going dad?" he asks, wanting to know what dad has planned for the day.

"First, we're going to grandma's, she wants to see you. Then we'll go back to NY. I have the show tonight. That's it. Why? Is there something you want to do?" he is open to suggestions from his son.

Jesse just shakes his head no.
