Water Ch. 97 - Something To Believe In

"Ok, I'll see you there." is what Beth hears as she wakes up.  Opening her eyes, she looks to where Jon's voice came from.  He's standing at the window, looking out at the river.

"Good morning." she mumbles and he turns around.  She rubs her eyes and sits up, yawning.  Jon walks over to her and kisses her good morning.  "What time is it?" she asks.

Jon looks at his watch and says, ""It's almost 9:30, how did you sleep?"  He's dressed and ready to face the day.

She's still a little groggy and feeling like she's missing something, "Why didn't you wake me up?"  She wants to know, she's slowly remembering that they were taking the kids to school this morning.  But it seems that he had forgotten?  "We were supposed to take the kids to school, Jon."

He sits down next to her on the edge of the bed, brushing some bangs out of her eye, he says, "I took them, you were sleeping so soundly I really didn't want to wake you.  We can pick them up this afternoon."

"I was looking forward to getting up with them this morning and taking them to school." He sees that she is dissatisfied and that isn't what he wanted, he really just wanted her to sleep, and she knew that.  She just felt that it was a missed opportunity.  Jon stands up and says, "What do you want for breakfast?  I have an interview in the city for the Soul, do you want to go?  Maybe we could do some shopping before the kids get out of school?" He grabs his robe out of the closet for her, since she went to bed naked and wrapped in his arm.  She sits on the edge of the bed and slips her arms into the robe.

She looks back over her shoulder, out the window and sees that it's a gorgeous day.  "I think I will join you, how long do I have?  I need a shower first."  She stretches and stands up, and is immediately hindered by pain.  Jon sees her wince and almost buckle at the knee and quickly gets to her side.

"Hey, are you okay?  What hurts?" he grabs her arm and leads her back to the bed.

She laughs, "Honey, I'm fine.  It's just my leg.  I gave it a work out last night and I feel it today.  Could you get me some Tylenol?" she pushes him away, knowing that he's going to drive her crazy over the next 8 months.  He goes into the master bathroom and gets her a fresh glass of water and 2 Tylenol.

Looking at his watch again, he informs her, "You can have more about 1:00."  and he hands the water and the pills to her.  She pops them in her mouth and takes a gulp of water.  He asks her again, "You need something in your stomach, what do you want to eat?"  Jon stands there in front of her and she looks him up and down.  He's dressed very casually and he looks great in brown.

Their eyes met and she said, "I'll go down and find something, if that's all right?"  She stands again, taking full advantage of him standing there, she uses him as a grab bar.

He nods his head, "Yes of course that's all right.  I'll take you down."  She takes his hand, he pulls her into him and he kisses her again, lightly whispering, "We're having a baby."

"We are, we are." she smiles because she loves the look on his face when he says that.  He has such a spark in his eye and a happiness in his voice, she truly is amazed that he wants to be with her.  She loves him so much and loves the idea of being with him forever.

They walk down the hallway to the stairs and Jon stops one step in front of her, "Get on, I'll give you a ride down."  He's offering to take her to the kitchen on his back.  She laughs at him and jumps on.

Laughing as they stomp down the stairs, she asks him "Did you go running this morning?  You seem to be full of energy.  Where did you get it?"  she covers his eye with one of her hands.  He keeps tromping down the steps.  Beth knew to uncover his eyes before he got to the bottom.  They made it down safely and he continued to give her a piggy back ride into the kitchen.

It's a small staff of two today, Maria and Jesse, have been with Jon for years.  They cook the Bongiovi family every meal that they want and are practically family.  Jesse used to make all natural baby food for all of the kids, she had a knack for throwing flavors together and making new and favorite dishes for the family.  Maria would make holiday dinners with either Dorothea and Mrs. B and they even shared the meal with the family.

Jon sits Beth down at the island, in a bar stool and does the introductions.  "Maria and Jesse, this is Beth.  Beth, these are the ladies that are responsible for making me look this good.  They are my secret weapon and dear friends of the family."  Beth extends her hand to both and makes formal introductions.

"I am pleased to meet both of you." She says, with a genuine smile on her face.  She could tell that they were a trusted member of the circle and that they were wonderful caring women.  However, they made the mistake of thinking that Beth was uneducated like Dorothea.  Which couldn't be further from the truth.

Jesse says, as she turns to get the juice from the fridge, "Ella es más guapa que su esposa."

Beth smiles and says, "Voy a ser su esposa pronto."  Jesse looks at her like, oh my God, she knows Spanish.  Beth adds, "Gracias!"  Jon looks at the 3 of them like they were speaking a foreign language.  He knew Spanish at one point, needing it to record a few foreign songs, but if you don't use it, you lose it.

"Girls, don't talk about me in Spanish."  sounding like he may pout.  "What did they say?"

Jesse pours Beth a glass of juice and asks her, "What would you like to eat?"

Beth holds up a finger, telling Jesse 'just a minute' and she answers Jon.  "They said that I am prettier than your wife and I told them that I would be your wife soon enough."  And she finishes with a big smile on her face.

Explaining to Jon what was said, she was then able to answer Jesse.  "I think I'd like some scrambled eggs and maybe some fruit and wheat toast, is that okay?"

Grabbing what she needed, Jesse said "Si." and got busy making Beth her breakfast.  Jon and Beth sat at the island and made small talk with the ladies.  Maria wanted to know what Jon wanted for dinner and they discussed that, while Beth's meal was being prepared.

It was a great breakfast with equally awesome company.  Beth really liked Maria and Jesse and hoped that she could get to know them

With her belly full and the Tylenol working, Beth told Jon "I'm going to get cleaned up.  What time do we need to leave?"

He said, " We need to leave here by 11:00, will that give you enough time?  The car will be here then."

"Oh yeah, that will be perfect."  She got up from her seat and headed upstairs.

Jon said, "I have a few phone calls to make, I'll be up to get you what you need in a minute."  He smooches her and she heads upstairs.  Making her self at home, she looked for towels in the linen closet and found what she needed.  She started the water and jumped in.  She looked around for a razor and seen Jon's.  She shaved quickly, cleansed her body and finished her shower.  Out of the shower, she grabs her travel bag and puts a little make up on.  Standing at the vanity naked, she again looks at her belly and rubs it. She tells baby Bongiovi good morning and goes on with her business.

Dressed in a cute little Vera Wang and sensible shoes, she gave herself one last glance in the mirror.  She sees that she's glowing ans she is the happiest she has been in many years.  She gave her hair the messy look and she was done.  Light makeup and some last minute Fire and Ice perfume and she is ready to knock them dead.  She looks great and she smells just as good.  She grabs her Prada clutch and heads down stairs.  Jon is sitting on the stairs waiting for her, while he's on the phone.  When she gets closer, she hears him say, "Ok, I'll pick them up and bring them to you.  Are you taking them to school in the morning?"  Beth figures out that he is talking to Dot, so she sits next to Jon and is quiet.  She just puts her head on his shoulder and waits.  He whispers to her, "You smell good enough to eat."  And he winks.  She smiles at him, and kisses his cheek.  He continues with the Dot conversation with, "Yes, Dot she is here.  Ok, I'll see you this afternoon, early evening.  Do you want me to feed them or did you have dinner plans?"  He's quiet while she responds and then he finishes with, "Ok, I'll see you later."  And he hangs up.

Slapping Beth's leg he says, "Are you ready?  Matt Lauer doesn't like to be kept waiting "

"I'm ready, let's go."  She stands up and he see what she's wearing.  He loves to just look.  But he did tell her, "You look amazing.  Beautiful."  He gets up and they walk out to the car hand in hand.

In the car, Beth questioned if everything was okay with Dot.  He said, "Yeah, she wants to have the kids tonight for a play or something tomorrow.  I told her we would take them to her after school, if you don't mind?"

"Not at all." with butterflies in her stomach.  She's thinking, what if she can tell I'm pregnant?  What if she can see it?

The ride into the city was quick.  Jon was in and out of NBC, the interview was about his ownership in the arena football league and a little about his divorce, but Jon declined to answer those questions.  On live TV, he may have looked like an ass, and he didn't care.  He wasn't putting anymore of that in public eye, he didn't need it and neither did his children.  The divorce conversations were over.  The only thing left to do, regarding the divorce, was to sign the final papers when they were ready.

Leaving NBC, they had the car take them over to Times Square.  Jon came prepared with sunglasses and one of his famous ball caps.  Beth hated to see that blonde razor cut hair under a hat, but that's a small price to pay for some privacy.  They hit Macy's first and Beth found a work suit she had to have.  She tried it on and it needed some altering, so she left it for that to be done.  After a fitting of course.  Next stop was Coach.  When in Coach, you have to buy coach.  And she did.  When they were done there, they waled down Broadway and were stopped by a guy walking by.  "Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude, but aren't you Beth Adams?"  Startled, she looked to Jon for the answer.

Jon said, "Go away."

Holding out a stack of papers, the guys says, "I need to give these to you." and he holds them out.  Beth takes them, and he says, "You've been served."  And away he walked.  Beth stood there, dumbfounded.  Jon took the papers and looked at them.  "GOD DAMN HER!"  Beth can see he's
pissed.

"What is it?" she asks, afraid of his answer.

"Dorothea is calling you as a witness in our divorce hearing."  he tells her, with heavy anger in his voice.

"For what?  Why me?" Beth inquires, really lost in this whole divorce proceeding.

"I'll take care of it when we get home.  DO NOT worry about this.  I'll have Peter make it go away."  He puts his arm around her shoulder and they continue on with their day of shopping.

  1. I knew Dorothea was up to something but to call Beth as a witness in their divorce proceedings! Well, that is just plain stupid.

  2. I think she wants to prove Jon was having a relationship with her before they decided for sure to divorce, thereby showing the court that is why he now wants out oif the marriage. if it looks like he cheated on Dot she would probably get more money in the divorce. should be interesting!
