Water Ch. 116 - Out Of Bounds

It had to be because of who she was with, she thought after they sat there and heard what the obstetrician and the radiologist had to say. She didn't think it was common for them both to give test results in the ultrasound room, but who was she to question?

Jon and Beth were given the all clear for baby Bongiovi and it was recommended that they have a follow up ultrasound when she entered her second trimester. They both were pretty happy.

"Don't be alarmed if you see some light spotting, Miss Adams.  That's quite normal after we go poking around in there." Dr. Keto tells her. "Keep taking the vitamins and if I read the chart right, you're moving to New York City? Do you have a doctor there already, or would you like me to refer you to one?"

Jon jumps in and tells the doctor, "Beth and baby will be going to long time family doctor, Dr. Anderson, in New Jersey".

Not needing to have the discussion infringement of these people, Beth smiled and agreed with what Jon just said, bit she had to ask, "Doctor, we're both runners, am I okay to go for a run with him?  I've not been on one since we found out, or before that actually."

"I did read over your chart, Miss Adams, and I have to ask, have you had follow up X-rays on your leg and ankle?" The good doctor asks Beth, knowing the answer because she has her chart.

Beth admits to the doctor, "I did have my leg xrayed, that's how we found out we were expecting, but I've not had my ankle checked. I think it's healed fine."

Giving the look of a seasoned doctor, Dr. Keto looks at Beth and suggests that she get one today, just to be sure. She also assures her that the X-ray won't hurt the baby and if the X-ray comes back good, she will get the okay to run with Jon.

Beth was reluctant, but she agreed.  With the lead apron on, the xray was over before they knew it and Dr. Keto gave her the all clear to run with Jon, but she added 'not for the rest of the week' due to the procedure that she just had.

Jon and Beth were out of there, and the two of them couldn't be more in love than what they are right now.  In the car, all they could talk about was the baby.  She already has a name and an expected birth date, now all they could do was plan for her arrival.

Jon acted like this was his first baby.  His excitement made Beth's excitement really hard to contain.  She rested her head on the head rest and looked over at the love of her life, driving her car.  "Babe?"

He looks over at her, "Yes, dear?"

"We're gonna be okay, right?"

"Why would you ask that?  No, we're not going to be okay - we're going to be better than okay.  We're going to go to Europe, come home and I'm signing divorce papers.  We couldn't get any better than that."  He leans over and quickly kisses her, while keeping an eye on the road.  "I love you."  He feels like he can't tell her enough, and when he does tell her, he doesn't think she feels it like he feels it.  His depth of love for this woman was one that scared even him sometimes.

"When do we tell the world that we're having a baby?  After the divorce is final?" she questions, because she wants to tell the world, from the tallest mountain to the tallest building.  She has a healthy baby growing inside her and she wants everyone to know that it's daddy is Jon Bon Jovi.  Not only because she loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him, but subconsciously she wants to rub it in the face of her parents and those that ever doubted her.

Taking her hand, he tells her, "We can tell whoever, whenever you're ready. But you need to remember, there is a price to pay when you do that.  The press will have a frenzy with it, and you're life that keeps changing will never resemble what you remember.  Are you ready for that?"  she needs to know what she may be facing, and whom she may be facing.  He isn't concerned about any fall out for him or the band.  He knows it will be a hot item for a few days, but will die off quick, for him anyway.  She needs to remember that she is entering a whole new world, once she become the gossip of the week.

"My only concern is your divorce and your children.  I can handle whatever the press and media throw my way."

"Hon, the kids will be fine.  They are well protected and you are not a stranger to them, we've talked about this.  They love you and you love them, no worries there.  As for the divorce, there isn't anything that can stop that, other than me.  You and or the baby can't change the outcome and the finalization of that.  So again, no worries.  We can announce it whenever you want."

Pulling into the parking structure for Deloitte, Beth said "A quick in and out please.  I feel like I have been probed and am having a little bit of cramping.  I want to get in, say goodbye and go.  Okay?"  she pleads with him.  She just wants to get on the plane and head back.  There isn't much worse than a long flight, other than knowing that you have a long flight coming up.

Jon looks at her, "Are you okay?  Do I need to call the doctor?"  he puts the back of his hand on her cheek and gently rubs her cheek. "We can skip this, if you want to, babe."

Shaking her head, she just says "Quick in and out.  And I mean my definition of quick, not yours.  Yours is an hour."  And she laughs, referring to the 'quickie' they had the other day.  He laughs at her and puts the car in park.

"In and out, I promise.  Let's get your things and we'll put California in the memory bank for a while.  How's that?"  They walk in the door, hand in hand ans when Tammy sees her, she about dies.  She runs up to them and gives them both a hug.

"Hi guys.  So glad you came in.  Come on.  Everyone is this way."  And she grabs Beth's hand to lead her to where all of her co-workers were gathering.  Beth is a little puzzled by the fact that everyone has gathered at this time and she looks back to Jon.  He smiles, shrugs his shoulders and waves her on.   Tammy drags Beth into the executive conference room, that is only used on special occasions and when she walked in the door, she was greeted by her junior staff.  Everyone was happy to see her and everyone was sad to see her go.  They gathered to bid her farewell.  She was touched by the gesture, but at the same time she was saddened by it.  She spent many many hours with these people and she really didn't want to go.

Her secretary, Melissa, walked up to her and handed her a gift bag.  "Please wait till you get home to open it." Melissa, an older lady down plays the gesture that she just handed Beth.  "It's just something from me, thanking you for the best 8 years of my career.  You are a wonderful boss and I will miss you, really miss you.  When they said you were transferring to the NYC office, I considered following,  but then Paul said you were going to work from home.  I kinda figured you wouldn't need a secretary at home."  She hugs Beth and doesn't want to let her go.  The two of them got closer when Brian passed, but Beth let all real relationships die, when he zest for life died.  Melissa knew that she was struggling and made it a point to keep an eye on Beth.

Jon walks up to the hugging women and Melissa lets Beth go.  "Honey, this is my right hand, my secretary, my friend Melissa.  Melissa this is Jon."  Melissa extends her hand and Jon by passes it and hugs the woman.

There were many introductions and many tears shared during the 2 hour in and out quickie.  Beth had to secretly tell Tammy that they were getting ready to leave, knowing how Deloitte goodbye parties went.  Tammy got super excited and went over and told her boss, "Beth and Jon are getting ready to leave."  Paul took that as his cue to stand on a chair and make his announcement.  He wished her well, wished them well and told her that Deloitte would be there for her when she got back.  Joking of course, knowing she was going to Jersey to start her life with Jon.

"On a serious note, Beth, we here at Deloitte wish you all that you deserve and more.  We all are better people for having known you and we want you and Jon to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after.  I will miss you, as you were a  big part of my day.  from chewing my ass over wrong financial statements to telling me that I was being an ass when my wife and I would fight...........Beth, you started out as a junior trader and made your way to my friend.  I am proud of the broker that you have become and wish you would have stuck around long enough to enjoy your new title.  I will miss you friend."  And he held up his glass.

Everyone in the room toasted and Beth was feeling the pressure to give a speech.  she doesn't want to and Jon can tell that she doesn't want to, but she needs to.  She needs to tell her friends and co workers goodbye.  Jon gives her a nudge, gently pushing the small of her back.  she turns around and gives him a slight version of the stink eye, and she walks up to the front of the crowd.

"Thank you everyone, so much.  I am touched to see you all here to tell me goodbye, you have no idea how hard this is.  Some of you have been with me from my first day and some of you not, that doesn't lessen what you mean to me.  Tammy, " and she points to her assistant, "I hope you packed, because I am not doing New York alone.  Melissa," pointing to her secretary,  "You helped me through the hardest part of my life, and I am forever  grateful to you.  You were the sanity that kept me from going crazy, thank you.  Paul," directing every one's attention to her boss, "You put up with me from day 1 and I know it wasn't easy.  I hope you don't think that you wasted 1 day on me.  You were a great mentor and you turned into an awesome friend.  I love you and I will miss you.  I will miss all of you.  Thank you all for sticking with me through thick and thin, and tolerating me when I was at my bitchiest.  I know I am not the easiest to tolerate, so thank you all.  I may not be here everyday, but I'm still part of the Deloitte team and if you need anything, please don't hesitate, let me know.  And last but not least, Jon" no one's attention needed to be directed.  Everyone knew where Jon was.  Jon was quite surprised and a little embarrassed.  He didn't see this coming.  "Jon, thank you for waking up my tired soul and being the light at the end of a very long tunnel.  You came into my life at the right time, and maybe for the right reasons.  Our waters have been tested and we managed to tread tread together.  I don't know how you are going to be able to handle me on a full time basis, so you better get ready.  Jon, I never thought that I would love again so know that me leaving here and moving to the east coast means that I really really love you.  And thank you for loving me."  she's tearing up know, overwhelmed by the emotions that she's feeling.  She gives Jon the signal and he makes his way to the door.  "Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart.  Sadly, Jon and I need to go.  We have a plane to catch.  I will miss you all, even though we will be in touch.  I might be gone, but not very far and not very long."

And her and Jon take their exit.  Beth never wanted a big ordeal about leaving and she stayed 2 hours longer than she wanted too.  Tammy was walking with her and Jon, arms full of goodbye gifts and farewell card.  Beth stops suddenly, "I need to pee before we leave."  Turns and heads into her old office.  In her private bathroom she goes to the bathroom and notices a little more than spotting in her panties.  She starts to worry.  She had what she needed in her bathroom and took care of what she could.  She exited the bathroom and told Jon they needed to hurry.  They walked to the car, Beth and Jon both hugged Tammy and Jon told her, "Your apartment is ready in New York, we'll see you in 3 weeks."

"Thanks Beth, thanks Jon.  I love you both.  See you in a few weeks." says the assistant, that didn't need to assist while Beth was in Europe.  And she hops her way back into the building.

Jon and Beth get in the car and the first words out of his mouth are, "What's wrong?"

"I'm spotting a little more than spotting, I need to get home and change clothes."

"Do we need to call the doctor?"

"No, I don't think just yet.  I'd like to lay down."

Jon thinks for a minute, "I had all of our stuff taken to the plane already, can we just go to the airport or do you still need to go home?"  He's turned and facing her, looking in her eyes and he sees something.  "Honey, are you okay?"

She head bunts him lightly and says, "Stop worrying so much, lets get to the plane.  I want to lay down."

He starts the car and they head to the executive terminal at LAX.  When they arrive, they are escorted to the plane, where the pilot and the car service were waiting.  The pilot to fly the Bon Jovi plane and the car service attendant to drive Beth's car to Deloitte, where Tammy will take care it.

Boarded and waiting for take off, Beth lies down on the bed after she takes care of her spotting problem.  She starts to doze when she's alerted that they are getting ready to take off.  She takes a seat next to Jon and waits for take off.

"Thank you for making me go into work.  It was nice to see everyone.  Hell, some of them I haven't seen in weeks."  She puts her feet up and he rubs them, gently.

"Tammy and Paul called me and told me what they had planned.  I knew it wouldn't be a big deal for you to go, but it would have been a big deal to you later if you didn't go."

She smiles, "You know me so well."  And she puts her head back and closes her eyes.  "I'm exhausted, and we did nothing today."

"Just another few minutes and you can go lay back down.  Are you girls hungry?"  Beth looks at him odd and then it dawns on her that he's talking about her and Keegan.

"No, not really.  I might have a bite when I wake up.  Do we get the kids when we get back?"

"Beth, you need to eat.  And yes, we can have the kids when we get back.  Are you up for it?"

"Of course."

He's reading his New York Times and she just sits there and looks out the window at the ground passing by as they take off.  They're up and she's just waiting for the 'ding, ding' so she can get up and lay down.  A few minutes later she hears the ding ding and that's music to her ears.  She undoes her seatbelt, kisses her rockstar and lays down on the bed.  She isn't laying there 5 minutes and she's out like a light.

  1. I know the doctor told Beth there would be some spotting but I'm not liking the amount of bleeding she is having. As soon as they land Jon needs to take her straight to the nearest hospital.
