Water Ch. 121 - Glad All Over

He sees the blonde little boy through the opening in his eye lids that Romeo had made for Jon.  Pulling his eye lid up, he moves in close and says, "Daddy."  Jon smiles a big smile and grabs his son, pulling him on the bed with him, noticing Beth was gone.  He sits up and looks around.  Thinking to himself, I wonder where Beth is.   “Romy, where’s Beth?”   The little guy looks at his daddy with no idea what he’s talking about.  Jon gets out of bed and pulls on his shorts, picks Romeo up and goes out into the kitchen.  No one else is up.  There is a note on the counter though, ‘Honey, I went for a run.  Back in a bit.  Don’t try to call me, I have your phone.  I love you. B”

He sets his son down and calls room service.  He and Romeo needed to eat and he needed coffee.  He was going to take advantage of Beth being gone - Jon was having coffee with caffeine in it.  He took Romy and went to watch cartoons with him until room service arrived.  He loved watching ‘toonies’ with his youngest son, he loved to see the happiness and the wow looks on his face.   It was an episode of Animaniacs and he loved it.  Jon wasn't too impressed, but he was with his boy and that's all that mattered.  He was anxiously waiting for Beth to get back.  He wanted to see how she did with her run.  Her first one since they found out she was pregnant.  He hoped that everything was okay, and it drove him crazy that he couldn't call her.  He knows she took his phone for a reason and he wasn't going to use Stephanie's, although he could.  He'll just wait for Beth to get back.

One episode was done and breakfast arrived.  Jon woke the other kids up and had them at the table eating breakfast.  Romeo was so happy to see her, so happy in fact that he got down from his chair and ran to greet her.  She swooped him up and gave him a big hug.

She was back from her run, but before she went upstairs, she stopped and seen the band, Mike Rew and Paul.  All the men were in the hotel restaurant eating breakfast, first she apologized that they didn't come down and join all of them, but she had a plan.  Standing at the end of the long table, she looked at Paul, the man that's 2nd in command and said, "Today is Jon's day off.  He is spending the day with the kids.  Please don't disturb him, unless it's emergent, please.  He needs this and deserves it.  He's been working so hard, dealing with Dorothea and dealing with my medical issue a while ago - guys he needs a break.  And since I am his mouth piece today, I should have some clout and I think you all can get along just fine without him.  It's just one day."  And she pauses waiting for the smart ass comments, and yes there are a few.

Richie asks, "Do you wear the pants in the family now Beth?" he laughs, he's not trying to be mean.

"Today Richie, yes I do.  I decided on the plane last night that I was giving him a day off and that I would kick any of your asses if you bother him.  We are going to the beach and it'd be nice if you guys could lounge at the other end.  I don't mean to sound like a bitch, but this is what's going to happen today."  She turns to leave and says to the guys, "Thank you, you can have him back tomorrow."  And Beth left the restaurant.

She stops at the concierge and has them set up an nice spot for the family to hang out; lounge chairs, towels, sand toys and of course a cooler full of snacks.  All of the Bongiovi children loved to be on the beach, without the paparazzi.  The concierge guaranteed that he would have it all set up for them by 9:00.  Beth thanked him and went upstairs.

Back at the Bongiovi breakfast table, Jon asked her how her run went and how she felt.  She told him that she felt great and she felt better than before.  "No problems?  Spotting?"

Beth told Jon that the spotting had stopped and she really felt awesome.  Beth informed the family of what was planned for the day.  All cell phones would be left in the hotel room and the clan would be disconnected for the entire day.

Jon jumped in and told her that he had to work, and Beth assured him that he had nothing to do with the band today, she has talked to all of them and they were ordered to leave Jon alone.  Jon didn't know what to think about that, but mulling it over, he loved the idea.

He got up and hugged her and said, "Thank you.  NO ONE has ever taken charge of my life like that before.  I look forward to what you have planned for us."

"It's nothing real cool or exciting, but it's family time for the 6 of us, alone.  Doing what the kids like to do.  You are not working Jon, at all today."  she pecks his nose and gets closer to the kids.  "Kids, when your done eating please go brush your teeth and get your suits on.  I have a day planned at the beach.  Just us."  She smiles at them and she can see that they are just as excited as she is.  Specially Stephanie.  She liked the idea of laying in the sun with Beth and her dad.

The day at the beach was just what Jon needed.  Playing with his children without a cell phone attached to his hip, in the sand and barefoot - he really didn't think it could get any better.  Playing football with his two oldest sons was just what the doctor ordered.  And let's not forget that his 2 favorite girls were there watching him.

Jon paused and was watching Beth.  She was getting a juice box out for Romeo and she did it with such care and grace - she was so remarkable.  And he found it hard to believe that she was the way she was with the kids, due to her dysfunctional raising.  It can only be that she swore she would never treat a child the way she was treated, whether it was hers or not.  Jon's kids were a breeze to be around and they were so polite and caring.  She loved his children, as if they were her own..

Football, volleyball and sand castle building were the things that they loved doing the most.  At one point they had buried Jon up to his neck and pretended that they were going to leave him there.  He didn't really like that, but he played along with the kids, for the kids sake.

A few hours pass and the concierge pops out with the lunch tray.  Stocked with kids food and adult foot.  Romeo went right for the corn dog, Jesse and Jake had a sandwich and Stephanie had a salad, with a side of fruit.  Jon and Beth had salads, too.  The way they have eaten over the last few days, they needed ffresh fruits and fresh veggies.  The family sat there and had their lunch and discussed what they were doing next.  Beth pointed out to the water and said, "See those?"

Kids nodded yes.  "Well, that's what we're doing next.  We are going to jet ski.  Does it sound like fun?  We could surf or boogie board - I want you to decide, it's up to you what we do.  This is a day with dad, your wish is my command."

The three older ones yelled, "Jet skis.'  And it was decided.  They cleaned up their lunch mess and headed to the jet ski's.  Every one had a life jacket on and we tethered to the machine and once they decided who was riding with who - they were off.  The kids and Jon were having the time of their life.  The water so warm, the sun so bright - how could they not be having the time of their life.  Jon had Romeo and those two spent hours  on the jet ski.  The other got bored after a couple of hours and went into shore, and Beth followed, more so just for Jake.  Steph and Jesse could take care of themselves for the most part.  They sat in lounge chairs and talked.  Thankful that Jake didn't understand alot yet, Jesse asked Beth, "When will our brothers and sisters be here, Beth?"  She was taken back by that question, and she knew she had to answer it truthfully.

"Their expected due date is April 29."

Stephanie laughed immediately, "That's going to piss my mom off."

"Why would the due date make mom mad?" Jesse asks, feeling like he's in the dark.

Beth should answer this one.  So she does - "Jesse, they are expected to be born on your mom and dads wedding anniversary."

"Yeah, mom will be mad.    Not only cause of their birth date, but also because your pregnant."  He adds.  Beth can see a look of concern washing over Jesse's face.  He may not be thrilled with his mom right now, but her definitely doesn't want her hurt.  He loves her, that's his mom.

"Well, that's the date that the doctor gave is.  I would be shocked if they were born on that date though.  That was the date given when we thought there was only one baby.  But now there's two."  Beth's heart skips a beat and she loves the thought of her babies.  She was going to be such a wonderful mother.

With excitement in his voice, Jake yells, "There's daddy!!"  And they all look to the shoreline.  Jon is walking up with Romeo on his shoulders, and both of them have big smiles on their faces.

"He got to see dolphins for the first time.  They scared the hell out if him."  Jon says, walking up to his family.  When he had Romeo out on the jet ski, they came up on a school of dolphins and played with them for a few minutes.  "AT first I couldn't tell if he was scared or just excited, but he was scared.  When he started to cry, I knew it was time for him to come in.  But it was pretty amazing.  I love that I was there with him for than."  Jon hoists the boy off his shoulder and he immediately went to Beth.   On her lounge chair, she made room for him to join her.  She snuggled him for a minute and then offered him a juice box, she figured he was thirsty.

"Where's my juice box?"  Jon asked, as if he were a little kid.

She smiled at her rock star, and he knew what the smile was for.  "They're in the cooler right there, help yourself.  How was your coffee this morning?"  Winking at him, she knows he had 'real' coffee.  The stuff she has to drink isn't real to her.  Yuck.

Jon grabs a juice box, he could have taken a bottle of water, but he was drinking a juice box with Romeo.  He sat at the foot of Beth's lounge chair and rubbed the sand off her feet.  She loved when he touched her, anywhere.

"What do you guys want to do for dinner?  We don't have to eat for a while, ut if I need to make a reservation, I'll need to do that quick."  Beth asks her family, she's always worried that they are hungry or thirsty and she doesn't want then to want for anything.

"How about you decide." says Jon.  "You planned this amazing day, why don't you pick where we eat?"

"I have to pick at home all the time, it's someone else's turn.  How about we let Jake pick, wait, no one knows what's around here.  I've never been to this part of Venice - what's around here??"  Beth replies.

"Mmmmm, around here there are alot of sit down places, not really kid friendly.  But we can take them anywhere that they want to go,"  Jon explains.

"That's good.  We still have some time until dinner, what do you want to do now?"  Beth asks Jon.  This is his day, he gets to decide.  She still has Romeo on her lap, and she's running her fingers through his hair, Jon motions for her to look at Romeo - the fingernails on the scalp work the same for son and dad.  Romeo falls asleep on Beth's lap.  "I guess I'm stuck here until little man wakes up.  You guys go do something, go."  And she shoos them away, or tried to.

Stephanie jumped up and told her brothers to come with her.  She wanted them to shore board with her, "Let's go, we can give dad and Beth some alone time on dad's one day off this century."  Both boys get up, grab their boards and  the three of them head out and have a great time.  Jon and Beth are left alone on the beach with a sleeping toddler, and that was alright with them.

Getting up and moving to the chair next to Beth, he asks her "Can I get you anything babe?  Water?  Juice?"

"A glass of wine would be lovely, but since that's out of the question, I guess I'll take a bottle of water.  Thank you."  she gives him a pouty look, she would so love to be drinking wine with her rockstar, on the beach in Venice.  But if she couldn't do that, what she's doing now would be her next choice.
