Water Ch. 149 - Do We Got It Anymore?

Back in New York City, Beth had the car drop her off at her Manhattan apartment.  She quickly hugged and kissed the kids and stopped at Jon.  "I'll call you."  And then she kisses him goodbye and exits the car.  She watches the car pull away with her family inside and that broke her heart.  But she knew that she needed to get out while she could.  She can't handle the pressure, the stress and the bullshit that goes along with being Jon's 'mistress'.

Water Ch. 148 - Whole Lot of Leaving Going On

Slamming her hands on the table, Beth jumps up and says, "You have got to be fucking kidding me?  It was Dorothea?  Crazy in the fucking head, Dorothea."  She is beyond livid, beyond pissed and starting to understand the way that Dorothea might be feeling, to where she would threaten Beth's life.

"Hey, clam down."  Jon says to her, in a fatherly way.  "It won't do us any good getting pissed off.  At least we know who it was and that we all are safe.  She can't do anything from in there."

Beth spins on her heels and says, "Excuse me?  You want me to calm down?"  She now laughs because she is so pissed off, that laughing is her next best reaction - she'd feel bad if she threw things like she wanted to.  It wasn't necessary and Beth didn't want to scare the kids.  "How can you tell me to calm down?"  Looking at Jon, she knows he has to feel the burn.

The Captain excuses himself and tells Jon to call him if he needed anything.  Jon thanked him for what he did and promised he would call if he needed anything.  The Captain was local and could come over at a moments notice if needed.  "Jim, what are they going to do with Dot?  She can't get away with this, can she?"  Jon has to know.

"While she's still there, she won't have telephone access and she obviously can't do anything from in there, but I will talk to the local precinct and see if they plan to press charges.  Do you want them to press charges?"

Jon shrugs his shoulders because he really doesn't know what he wants them to do.  "I don't know, I'll give you a call."  And the Captain takes his exit.  He can tell that it's going to explode in there, and he doesn't want to witness it.

Beth, leaning against the kitchen counter asks Jon, "You don't know if you want to press charges?  She didn't make the threat against you Jon, she made it towards me - and I will decide if the charges get pressed."  She is starting to shake and feel very sick to her stomach.  Here she is, in her house, with her husband taking care of her children after she threatens her.  Beth cannot believe the tenacity of Dorothea.  How much more was she going to try to do to her, to them?

Jon gets up and walks to her, "This is going to be okay."  He tries to put his arms around her, but she pushes him away.  She doesn't want to be touched and not just by him.  The feeling in her stomach gets worse, so much in fact she has to throw up in the kitchen sink.  Jon gets worried and tries to comfort her, but she continues to push him away.

"Please don't touch me."

"Why are you so pissed at me?  What the fuck did I do?" he barks at her, with a pretty hard look on his face.  "I thought you would feel better once we knew who it was."

Wiping her mouth with a paper towel, Beth looks to him and responds with "I'm supposed to feel better when I learn that it's your wife that made the threat?  How is that supposed to make me feel better, other than we know who and where she is?"  Beth leans on her elbows.  She feels like someone had drained the life from her, directly from her veins.

"You should feel better knowing that it was an empty threat, Beth.  Dorothea would never hurt you, that's not the way she is."

"Threatening someones life is a way of life for her, Jon?  Look at what she's done in the last few weeks, all because she can't let you go. We are out here, had to be escorted out here and protected by a guard because that's not the way she is?  Are you fucking kidding me?  She is getting worse, Jon."  Her nerves are shot and she needs to sit down, so she walks back to the table and sits down.

"Do you want to go home tonight or stay here?" Jon asks her, knowing the answer.  Beth will not stay another night in the house.  All she had to do was look at him, and he knew the answer.  "I'll call for a car."  And he leaves the kitchen.

Jon feels as if a large weight had been lifted and thinks he can relax a little bit.  It was a tough time for all of them, but Jon really tried to make it fun for the kids.  He doesn't see or understand why Beth is so pissed.  He walks into the living room with his cell phone, and he calls the car service.  When he's off the phone, he tells the kids, "I called a car, we're going back home.  Can you pick up before we go?"  It wasn't directed at any one child, but Stephanie told her dad that she would take care of it.

In the door way into the kitchen, Jon stops and looks at Beth.  He can see that she's not feeling too well.  He can see that she is somewhere else right now.  He walks over to her and stands next to her, puts his hand on her shoulder and asks her, "What do you want me to do?  What do you want me to say?"

Beth looks up to him and starts to cry.  She loves him so much, but he's costing her her sanity.  She buries her face in her hands and just lets it flow.  She is at the point where she can't take anymore.  She thinks back over the last year in her life and can't even recognize the life she used to have.  The life that she has now is quite the opposite of what she gave up to be with him.  From the beginning, she knew that a relationship with a rock star was going to be tough - but in a just a few months she has gone from on top of the world, to all over the world landing at a dead end.

"I want to go home."

"I called for a car, we'll be out of here in just a little bit." he tries to console her, but he knows her well enough to know that she needs him to stand back, just a little bit.

"I want to go home, to California." she confesses, with no expression on her face.  He stands there not knowing what to say.

"Ok, we can go this weekend, like we talked about."

"I want to go alone."  and as soon as she got the words out of her mouth, her hand flies to cover it and she runs to the bathroom; making it just in time.  Jon follows her into the bathroom, he leans over and holds her hair back.  When she's finished, she gets up off the floor and looks at him.  "Jon, I can't do this anymore.  I just can't."  A tear rolls down her cheek.

"What are you talking about?  Can't do what?" wiping the tear off of her cheek.

"I can't be with you anymore.  I can't stay on this roller coaster.  I need to get off." and she walks passed him and back into the kitchen.  He is right behind her, and he's not happy.

"Will you talk to me?  What's going on?" he pleads, not seeing this one coming.

Beth still feels like crap and her nerves are even more raw.  She's STUCK in this house until a car gets there to get them.  In this house.  The house that his wife lives in, part time.  The house that he shared with her at one time and she is there with his children.  She loves his children.

Looking for some crackers, Beth is going through cupboard after cupboard and the common thing that she sees in each cupboard is vodka.  She grabs a bottle and says to Jon, "Here's Dot problem, or was it her solution?"

"Meaning?"

"Is this how she got through life being your wife?  Or am I the only one that she's had a problem with?" Beth is flippant and Jon isn't liking it.

"Beth, please tell me what the hell you are talking about?"

There is a beep of the horn, letting them know that their car had arrived. The kids heard it and headed out to get in.  Jon made sure that everything was off, locked and they left.  The ride back to the city was quite.  Everyone felt the tension and the boys were tired.

Jon grabs Beth's hand and whispers in her ear, "I'll never give up the fight, I'll go the distance!"

Water Ch. 147 - Hurt Me, Heal Me

Laying there with the mother of his expected babies, he can't help but look at her naked body.  She's laying there totally relaxed, with her hand resting on Jon's  hand, as he rubs her belly.  He tells her, "Your baby bump is growing pretty fast. You get sexier everyday."

Water Ch. 145 - We Gotta Hold On

Both cars made it to the Hampton's, just a few minutes apart.  Beth and the kids got there first and were greeted by an armed guard, getting out of his SUV that was parked in the driveway.

"Stay here, I"ll be right back."  Says the driver to Beth and the kids.  No one knew who this guy was.  It was obvious that he was carrying a gun.  The driver got out and approached the guard, asking him, "Can I help you?"

Water Ch. 144 - I'll Hold On To You, Hold On To Me

Beth wakes up to the sound of Romeo crying.  She's at first startled, confused and then she panics.  She jumps out of bed, grabs her robe and heads down the hall to the sound of his cries.  When she bolts into the spare bedroom, she sees Stephanie trying to change his shirt.  "What's going on?"  She asks, rubbing her eye.

Water Ch. 143 - Don't Hold Back, Just Let Go

Standing over her, he looks at her and finds a great peace when he looks at her.  He loves the way she looks back at him, he loves the glimmer in her eye.  Without breaking their stare, he quickly takes off his shirt and drops it on the floor.  He moves to get closer to her and she says, "Stop." And he's does.

Water Ch. 142 - Did Somebody Sell You A Broke Fairytale?

"Hello?"

"Hey babe, can you meet me at Ken's office in about half an hour?" Jon asks his best friend.

Water Ch. 141 - He Said Forever

She doesn't know what to do.  Sitting on the riverbank for the rest of her life wasn't an option. But she couldn't allow him to treat her that way.  It was tough staying up on his moods lately.  She knows he's under a lot of stress, but so is she. Yet, she can treat him with love and respect.  Beth loves being with Jon and the kids, but what's going to happen now?  She still has no idea what has him so pissed off and she can't catch her breath.

On the bench, her tears keep coming. This is supposed to be the happiest time of her life, but it's somehow shadowed by this incident. She wants to go back in time, just one day. One day.

Composing herself, she gets up and heads toward the house.  Walking with her head down, she didn't notice Jon was walking in her direction.  She looked up just in time and she walked right into his arms. As soon as her head hits his chest, she starts to cry again, uncontrollably.

"Beth, I am so sorry I got so upset with you. I really am. I was a complete asshole about it and I had no right to be. Baby, I know you were only trying to help; I just wish you would have listened to me. I know the mind of Dorothea." He's rubbing her back and holding her tight. "Can you forgive me?"

"What did I do that was so bad Jon?" She asks through gasps of air and deep sobs.

Jon gently guides her to the house.  "Let's get you in bed and I'll explain it, okay. You and the babies need to rest. I've put you through hell today."  They walk into the house arm in arm, Beth resting her head on his shoulder.

"Jon, you tore me apart today.  Mentally and emotionally."

"I know I did."

They walked back into the house and found the kids were home.  Romeo ran to his Beth and gave her a big leg hug. "Hi little man! How was ice cream?" Jon reached down and picked him up so Beth could love on him, and she did.

The kids noticed that Beth had been crying, as did Lupetta.  Being the great nanny that she is, she tells Jon, "I'll bathe the little ones and put them in bed."  She extends her hands for Romeo, but he wants his daddy.  Jon kisses him, hugs him and hands him off to Lupetta, but he had to get a kiss from Beth first.  Beth kisses the little guys and off the little ones go, with Lupetta.

"What are you two going to do?"  Jon asks Stephanie and Jesse.  "I'm putting her back to bed and then I'll be down, okay?"

Jesse says, "I'm going to bed, I'm tired.  Don't forget that I am going over to Danny's house tomorrow."   Jon had no idea what he was talking about.

"Danny's?  What for?"

Jesse gives a sigh and says, "I told you on the way home, dad.  It's his birthday tomorrow."  Jon was able to recall that conversation, he just needed a little help remembering.

"Noon, right?" he asks his son.

Jesse gives a nod, as he hugs his dad goodnight.  "Goodnight Beth, I'll see you in the morning."

"Good night Jesse."  Beth says to him as he heads up the stairs.

Stephanie turns on her heals and tells them, "I'm going to watch MTV, I'll see you in the morning Beth.  G' night."  Beth and Jon watch her walk away, and Jon chuckles a little bit.  She walks just like her father.  She has the spring in her step and all the confidence she will ever need in life.

Jon turns to Beth, "It's your turn."  And he points up the staircase.  "Let's go, you have been up to long for someone that's been on bed rest."

They walk upstairs and into their room together.  Beth has a mild headache from the crying and the fighting and the last thing that she wants to do is pick up the broken lamp.  She approaches the mess on the floor and Jon tells her, "I'll get that.  Please get in bed."

"I can pick this up Jon.  It's just broken glass." He walks over to her and that startles her a little bit.  She flinches and he sees it, and that concerned him.

"Babe, please sit on the bed.  I have to talk to you."  Beth looks up at him and she can see that he's troubled by something.  She does as he asks, and sits on the edge of the bed.

A little nervous because talks that start with 'I have to talk you' never go well.  "Let's talk."  She says as she takes her sweatshirt off.

He takes a seat on the edge of the bed next to her and he takes her hand.  "Babe, we need to talk about today.  There are some things that you need to know, things I should have told you in the beginning."  Beth is really concerned now, she can't imagine what he hasn't told her.  She looks to him for answers, but his face shows nothing new.

"Okay.  I'm listening."  Grabbing the corner of the down comforter, she pulls it over her legs as she sits Indian Style, facing Jon.  Her heart is beating a mile a minute and she is as prepared as she thought that she could be.

"When my career started, Dot and I were dating.  I had to leave and hit the road, for a tour that didn't last very long.  While I was gone, I was with my best friends and we did things on the road that we don't ever talk about."  He turns to look more directly at her, she needs to see that he is meaning what he's saying.  "I called home one day, after a nursing a hangover and feeling lonely and Dorothea told me that she wasn't going to wait for me anymore.  It was her or the band."  He takes a breathe and looks her in the eye, "I loved her so much, that I knew I couldn't lose her.  She was there with me from the very beginning and she supported me the whole way.  Anyway, not wanting to lose her, I came home and convinced her to marry me.  In my mind, I thought that would be enough for her and she would stay with me."  Wiggling a little bit because he hates that he's having this conversation now, when he knows she should have been told all of this months ago.  He continues, "We went to Vegas, got married, flew home and a few days later I had to go back on the road.  I left my new bride at home to go play rock and roll all over the world."

"Jon, what does this have to do with me?"  She asks, not wanting to hear what he's already said.  She hated to hear about their life together and how much he loved her.  But she knows that he needs to tell her whatever it is that he's kept from her.

Jon pulled her closer to him and they were sitting on the bed, with their knees touching.  He leans over and puts his arms around her and rests his head on her shoulder.  She takes the opportunity to love him right back.  She wraps her arms around him and holds on. She can feel his tension let go, just a little.  She kisses the back of his head and says, "Go on."

Without lifting his head, he begins to tell her, "I never had a pre-nup.  We ended up getting a post - nup with several clauses."  He can feel  Beth get tense, her frame became rigid and her breathing changed.  "We did several silly clauses to it over the years, removed many and added a few new ones - but the one that really screws us is the one about 'children of another'."

He lifts his head and tries to read her eyes.  She has gone blank.  "It states that if either one of us have children with another, the one that has the children while married, pays the other 50,000.00, if there is ever a divorce.  Now that you are pregnant, and once I can get a divorce, I have to pay her 50K month in alimony or whatever I'm ordered to pay."

Beth looks at him like he had just said the dumbest thing she has ever heard him say.  With a puzzled and sarcastic look on her face, "Who ever thought that was a good idea?"

"We did, at the time.  When we added that one, I knew I would never have children with another woman.  I just hadn't met you yet. I couldn't imagine having children with any woman I've met over the years.  And I knew Dot wouldn't let herself get pregnant from one of her affairs.  She would hate to pay me that money."

"Wait a minute, you got pissed off at me today, like you did, over 50,000.00 a month?"  her attitude is quickly changing, because he treated her the way he did over money.

"That's part of it.  The clause is a per child clause, so it will be 100K a month.  And money isn't an issue really, it's the divorce being dismissed along with a couple other things."

Beth's head is spinning because she can't get over the fact that he yelled at her, swore at her and broke a lamp over $100,000 a month for something that she thought he was happy about?  Maybe she was wrong.  "So, you're pissed off because you are going to have to pay her 100K a month because we're having twins?"  There is a little bit of sarcasm in her voice.  "We are having babies Jon, aren't you happy about that?  Or is the money the biggest thing you're thinking about?  I have seen your finances, you make more than that in a day in interest."

"That's alot of money, Beth." he plainly tells her.

Now she's even more pissed off about it, because it's over money and nothing else.  She gets out of bed and grabs her robe.  "Isn't Stephanie waiting for you?"  She wants him to leave the room, she's so angry that she's afraid of what she might say and she doesn't want to say anything that she may regret.  She can't hold it in, "What's are alternate Jon?  We not have the babies?  What can we do?  You're just going to have to pay her."  She runs her fingers through her hair, several times and ends up cupping her face.  "You have got to be fucking kidding me.  You agreed to that?"

He gets up off the bed and walks towards her.  She puts her hand up to stop him.  "Come on, it's not that bad, we'll just deal with it, okay.  I'll pay what I have to pay and be done with it.  I was just hoping to get the divorce before she found out you were pregnant."

"I wasn't going to lie Jon.  She asked me flat out.  I had to tell her."  Beth had the overwhelming feeling to elaborate, "She needed to know.  Having her find out now was probably the best, she's with people can help her with the news."

"I know." he paces the floor with stress on his face and tension in his shoulders.

"What other asinine things did you agree too?"

He had another bomb to drop, "She gets this house.  It was written that the one that cheats loses all personal assets that are in both names.  She gets this, the SoHo apartment and the East Hampton house."  he pauses, takes a deep breath and tells  her, "I had forgotten about all of that."

"So, me telling her I'm pregnant is the 'proof'' that she would need to get all of this?" Beth questions.  She has worked years learning strategy and she sees this as an opportunity to see what she could do. She's thinking she needs to move some of his money and get going on his accounts.  "I guess we start house shopping as soon as we can, huh?"

He walks over to the window and looks out the window, out at the river.  The sun is about to set and he's mesmerized by the colors dancing on the water.  He's thinking that he's in one hell of a mess and he hates to part with his money, hates it.  "We have time, the divorce can't be started until she is out of the hospital and no longer under the supervision of a psychiatrist, but we can start looking."
Beth takes a moment before she says anything else. She has made up her mind on what she is going to do.
Jon turns to her, "I love you more than you will ever know. I am beyond thrilled that we are having the twins, you know that. I love that you are honest to a fault and you try to help everyone, but please, I beg you - don't see her again. I know your intentions were pure and you really wanted to help her, but there are things that she doesn't need to know. It's bad enough that the press finds crap out, let's keep what we can to ourselves." Walking over to her, he grabs her hand and leads her out onto the patio. She stops at the railing and looks at the lake. Behind her, he wraps his arms around her and says, "We need secrets, from the world Beth. Otherwise, they win."
She titls her head back so that it's resting on his shoulder. He kisses her forehead and says, "We need to leak that you're pregnant, so I can control the damage." And he held his breath. Beth was motionless and speechless, but only for a minute.
"We are telling everyone?" She's really surprised by that, and a little irked. She wanted to tell everyone. She didn't want to be forced into it.
He knows that that is what they need to do and he hates it as much as she does, "Yeah, we need to be able to have damage control done on this one. It's not the ideal situation, but we really need to beat her to it. She'll make up and elaborate story and make us out to be monsters."
"Then we need to tell all of our friends and family first, they will be upset if they find out from the press." She walks away and gets into bed. "I'm done with this for right now, Jon. I can't take anymore."
He tucks her in and says, "Figure out who you want to tell and we'll make it happen. We need to leak this as soon as we can." Kissing her goodnight, she reaches up and holds him, gently pulling him down on her. She needed to feel him, she needed a hug. He didn't have a problem accommodating her and gladly hugged and kissed all over her. "I love you."
"I love you more. Now go talk to Steph. She asked me a pretty hard question today and I directed her to you." Beth gives him a heads up, so he's not caught off guard.
“Is she okay?” he asks Beth, quite concerned.
Beth gives him a sad face and said, “She can’t understand why Dot did what she did. She asked me how she could do that to them. I see she’s hurting and she needs to talk to you. I think you’re the only one that can help her see the reality behind the cry for help.”
“I’ll go talk to her.” One last kiss and he’s out the door.
Beth lays there and just looks out the window, wonders why she let this get this far. How could she let herself get sucked into such a tangled web? She loves him and his family, but is money really his driving factor? If that’s the case, she can’t be with someone like that. Was she all wrong about him? She also wonders why he never told her that the vineyard was in her name?
As the night gets darker, her eyes get heavier. She eventually falls off to sleep and isn’t even woken up when Jon climbs into bed.

Jon and Stephanie had a great talk. He let her know that her mother never intended to die and that she did it for one of two reasons. She did it as a cry for help, to try to get Jon back or she did it to stop the divorce. Either way, she was getting the help that she needed and she would be out soon, better than before.
Over the course of the next couple of weeks Jon and Beth had planned a dinner for close family and friends, with the intent of telling all of them that they were expecting and they decided they would answer questions about Dorothea, if any came up.
The guest list was small. It included Beth’s brother, the band, the road crew that was close to the band and management, Tammy and a few of Jon’s friends from the various interests that he has. His parents and brothers are on the list as well.
The dinner was a great success and everyone was so happy for the two of them. They all wished them well and hoped that the divorce would be speedy once Dot was released. Everyone could see how happy that they were and that made the night even more enjoyable. Jon informed all of them that they were there so they would hear the news before they released it to the press. Everyone appreciated that.

Water Ch. 140 - Crush

"Where the fuck have you been?" he screams at her, pacing their bedroom floor.

"Excuse me?  Who do you think you're talking to?  One of your friends?" She yells back, from the bed that she has been ordered to lay in for days.

"Beth you had no fucking reason to go into the city and see her.  You are on FULL bed rest."

She works herself up in the bed, so she can have a pissing match with him, in a comfortable position.  "You are not my fucking boss, Jon.  I can come and go as I please.  I wanted to go talk to her today, to get it over.  So SHE can get out and continue to fuck up our lives."  She's pissed that he's pissed, that he cant control her.

"You are under strict orders to stay in bed and away from stress and pressure, so you go to the looney bin.  Dumb ass move."

She pissed now, questioning her intelligence.  "Jon, it was NOT a dumb ass move.  I think it was very helpful for Stephanie."

"Stephanie?  What are you talking about?" He questions her about what she means by Stephanie being there.  His Italian animation stopped as soon as he heard her name.

Beth takes a drink of water and goes on to say, "Stephanie figured out I was there and came to get me. She was pissed I was there, too"

"She was with my mom?!"

"They called home when they were done shopping and Maria told her that I had called for a car and that you were gone. She put 2 and 2 together and showed up."  Setting her glass down, "It was good Jon.  Steph really let her have it."

Throwing his hands up in the air, he mumbles, "Great, now two of you can't follow orders."

"Orders? Jon, you need to realize something. You are not my boss.  You can try to tell me what to do, but I'm not one of the people that work for you that you can bark orders at.  The visit was fine."

"Neither one of you had any business going there Beth, either of you." He's getting louder with each word he delivers. "I insist that you don't do it again."

Beth laughs, " Have you not heard anything that I have fucking said to you Jon? Hhmm, have you?"  He can see that she's pissed off and that causes him wonder.

Looking out the window to the view of the river, he says, "Don't go back there.  Do not" and he leaves the room.

Beth lays in bed for a few minutes and stews about what just happened.  She's pissed and hurt, all at the same time.  How dare he talk to me like that? He's not my damn boss and I'm definitely not Dorothea! She flips back the covers, gets out of bed and heads of into the direction that Jon went.  She didn't make it very far, he's standing at the windows at the top of the stairs, looking out over the driveway.  Watching 3 girls take their picture at the end of the driveway.

"I want you to know that you have me more upset right now than I was at any given moment with Dot today.  Even when Stephanie showed up.  And about Stephanie, why are you blaming me for her being there? I was just as surprised as you were." He turns to look at her, and he does with the stink eye.  That infuriates her even more. "Ya know what Jon, fuck it.  You go take care of your ex wife and your kids; I'll just go lay in that bed day after day like you want me to, but WHEN Dot starts her shit again, it's all on you. I'm done trying to lighten your load and make our lives easier, hell, manageable would be nice."  With him staring at her the while time, as if he were looking through her, she adds, "I'm done." Throws her arms in the air and marches off back to bed.

Jon follows her, unable to let her have the last word.  She's going to listen to what he has to say.

"Goddamn it Beth, why do you think I tried to keep it from you? Why do you think I didn't want you fucking around with her? She's playing a game.  I TOLD you to trust me when it came to her...."

Beth sprung up with a laugh and said, "I did trust you when it came to her, until you went to see her and lied to me about it. I did trust you Jonny boy." She's left with a smirk on her face.

He sighs, because he knows that this is going nowhere fast, yet he needs her to know that he's serious; she is to not go see her again and she's on strict bed rest. "Don't go back to the hospital Beth, I mean it." He sits in the chair on his side of the bed. "Don't do it."

"Or what Jon, huh? Or what? Are you going to ground me? Are you going to spank me?" Beth is showing Jon a side he's not really seen before and he doesn't like it.

"Knock it the fuck off. You know that seeing her is a waste of time and she has a way with words and she'll get information out of you and you won't even see it coming."

"Oh, you mean like when she flat out asked me if I was pregnant? No word play there, Jon; she just fucking asked. Someone told her, and I assume its you!"

He stands up and walks at her fast, she sees a rage in his eyes and she's scared. He gets in her face and asks, "Did you tell her you are? Did you goddamnit?"

"I did."

"Jesus fucking Christ, do you have any idea what you just did? Any fucking idea at all?" He runs his fingers through his hair and is so stressed, he needs to hit something.  Without even thinking, he knocks the lamp off her bedside table and it shatters into a thousand pieces, "damn it Beth, we're fucked."

Beth decided she had had enough, she grabbed her robe and went downstairs.  Lupetta had already made dinner and the kids were all at the table eating, so she sat down with them thinking that they were 'safe', that Jon's rant would stop with them in the room - was she ever wrong.  Jon appeared in the doorway and kind of asked Beth, "Let's go for a walk."

Not even looking at him, "I'm on bed rest, I want to eat with the kids. Why don't you join us?" As she pushes out a chair with her foot.

Stephanie looks over at her dad and says, "Yeah dad, take a break from yelling at her and eat with us."  Jon felt himself fall to about 2 feet high.  "Don't take it out on Beth that mom knows about the twins, she didn't tell her."

"Steph, stop.  Beth, let's go outside for a minute." He looks at her with sincerity, but she can still hear the lamp break and part of her heart break.

"Jon, I'd rather not."  And she reaches for the plate that Maria was handing her. Beth looks at her plate and makes a funny face at Romeo, "What is this?" And she laughs.  She knows that it's lamb chops, but she was after a distraction.  And Romeo did the trick.  But only for a minute.

"Come on Beth. Lets go outside."  He reaches over for her hand and she ignores it.

Jesse feeling the tension and says, "sit down dad, lets have dinner together."

Jon knows he's lost this one, specially since the kids are now involved.  He takes the seat that Beth pushed out for him.

From the opposite end of the table Jon hears, "Do you want a plate, Jon?"  He acknowledges Lupetta.

"No thanks Pete, I'm not hungry." And he sits there and watches everyone eat.  Running through his head, "I'm never going to get divorced, never.  This is a nightmare."

When the kids are finished eating, Lupetta does what she does best - she manages the Bongiovi children when they need to be managed most.  She has been with the family long enough to know that Jon is pissed and she needs to take the kids away from the situation.  The Bongiovi children are very guarded and very protected and sometimes it's needed from their own parents.  Jon and Dorothea tried very hard to not argue in front of them, although there were times when it was unavoidable.  Jon has a tendency of flying off the handle when certain things piss him off as there wasn't any time or training to prepare anyone for it. It just happened.  Lupetta put the kids in her car and took them into town for ice cream, she knew that she needed to keep the kids out for a little while.  Lupetta has not seen Jon this upset in a very long time.

With the kids gone and the staff in the kitchen, Jon started in on Beth, again.  She was feeling like he was trying to bully her or make her feel bad and she wasn't going to let that happen, anymore.

She slides her hand across the table and teaches for Jon's, but like a baby he pulled his away. "Really, Jon?" And she gives him the look of disgust.

"Really Beth, this is bad.  You shouldn't have gone there, do you realize that?" He stands up and walk over to the bar and pours himself a glass of wine, then adding his ice cube.

"That didn't take long." Beth mumbles.

"What didn't?" He asks.

"You not drinking until I could."

He slams the glass down on the table and loses it, "This is what you fucking did today Beth, you yourself, by going against my wishes and visiting Dorothea. My divorce proceedings are done, null and void.  I have to start the process all over again.  From the beginning.  I have spent so much time and money trying to get away from her and you practically move her back in here." He stops to see if he can read her expression, which there is none.  "Do you understand what this means?"

Beth had no idea why her visit had anything to do with his divorce, so she admitted, "I have no idea what the hell you are talking about, Jon.  How can my visit affect your divorce in anyway?"

"It's what you said at the visit, not the visit itself. Admitting to her that you were pregnant stopped any and all legal action I had, plus it cost me 50 thousand more a year when I do divorce her."  He paces and paces.  The rest of the wine is calling his name and he's to the point where he needed the drink.  He needed the calm and he was just thirsty.

Instead of using the glass that he cracked when he slammed it down, he just drank from the bottle.  He leans against the chair that he was sitting in and said, "This is bad.  I try so hard to keep my private life private and my business out of the news, but I have no control now.  She is going to use this to try to hurt me, this is all that she has.  She'll already get an ungodly amount of money, now she has power to smear me in the media.  Thank god her access is limited while she's in the hospital."  He stands there and shakes his head, he can't believe that Beth did that, to him and to them.

"Will you tell me what the hell I did by trying to help someone?  I am so lost right now, Jon.  Explain it to me or quit talking about it, okay.  Cause I am already over it."  She exhales heavily and stands up.  "I better get my bed ridden ass back up to bed, before the Bongiovi police find me."  And she leaves the dining room, with Jon and his bottle of wine behind her.  She exaggerates her walk up the stairs back into the master bedroom.  She just sits on the edge of the bed, because she sees that she needs to clean up the broken lamp.  She looks at the lamp, looks at Jon and rolls her eyes again.  He is leaning on the door frame, looking at her.  She can practically feel him burn a hole through her.  "What does staring at me do?  It doesn't undo what she knows and what I did."  And she air quotes I did.

Walking toward her, swigging the bottle of Pinot, he responds, "Why did you tell her that you were pregnant?  I can't make any scenario work.  That's the last thing you EVER needed to say to her.  So, tell me, how did it come up in conversation?"  She can't figure out where all this anger was coming from.

"She asked me if I was pregnant.  And I told her the truth, Jon.  I wasn't going to lie."  She calmly tells him, but as she says the words it kind of hits her, "Why would I want to hide the fact that I'm pregnant anyway?  I am thrilled to be having babies and you are making me feel like I have committed the ultimate sin."  She gets up and starts to pick up the broken lamp.  He walks to her, grabs her wrist and helps her to stand.

"JON!  Stop it." she winces, he has her wrist pretty hard.

"Why did you have to tell her today?"

"Let go of my arm Jon." she tries to pull away, and he's not letting her go.

Pulling her to him, so they are now face to face, he repeats himself, "Why did you have to tell her today?"

Trying again to pull away, she says, "Because she asked me today.  Let me fucking go."  One last tug and she's free.  She can't move.  She is paralyzed by what just happened.  She has no idea what he'll do next.  She knows he's pissed and maybe he has every right to be; but to grab her and not let her go - that scared her.  She's seeing a side of Jon that she's heard about and one that she never wants to see again.

Jon realizes what he had just done and he could see the look on her face.  She was afraid, and he made her that way.  Setting the bottle down on the night stand,  he walks into her and wraps his arms around her.  "Baby, I am so sorry.  I am so sorry."  Kissing her forhead, he keeps saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."

It was as if he had kissed his anger away and kissed it into her.  She puts her hands on his chest and pushes him back.  "Was it that easy for Dorothea to forgive you and accept you flying off the handle?"  She walks away from him, no place in mind - she just wanted to be away from him.

He doesn't know how to handle her rejection, he starts to follow her, "Where are you going?"

Beth grabs a sweatshirt out of the closet and tells him, "I'm going to sit outside, please leave me be."  And she leaves the bedroom that they share.  He watches as she walks down the hallway and starts down the stairs.  He wants to follow her, her needs to make this right, but he knows that she wants to be alone.  He sits on the bed and waits for her.

Beth finds herself back on the riverside bench, alone with her thoughts.  She needs to wrap her head around the nightmare that she had gone through.  He's pissed at me becasue I went and seen Dot.  Why?  Why is it okay for him to scream and yell at her and break things?  Doesn't that fall under stressful and pressure situations?  Why did he scream at me like that.  What does Dot knowing I'm pregnant have to do with anything?  How can he treat me like that?  I'm pregnant with his babies...........She does what any pregnant woman would do, she starts to cry.

Water Ch. 139 - If I Was Your Mother

"May I help you?"  Dr. Fuller asks the person that just interrupted his session.  Dorothea and Beth look at one another, Dorothea kind of smiles because she assumes that it's Jon and that Beth is on the verge of being busted.  Beth looks at Dorothea with the look of wonder, because she can't even begin to imagine who it could be.  She knew it wasn't Jon, he was picking the kids up from his mom's house.

Water Ch. 138 - something for the pain

"Come in, I'm Dr. Fuller.  Please have a seat. Can I get you anything?"  Beth declines and says thank you.  Even though her mouth was dry from her nerves.  She's not sure what to expect from this meeting, but she knows she's going to get her ass chewed when she got home.  She didn't wait for the bed rest order to be lifted, she had an overwhelming feeling to see Dorothea, to help her on her road to recovery.

"Thank you for coming in.  It will mean alot to Dorothea, and if it goes as planned - she will be one step closer from getting out of her and using the tools we have taught her to deal with all that's going on.  When Dorothea comes in, she may seem like she mad or upset, but she's really not.  Are you ready for her to come in?"

"Yes, I am doctor - but I have some ground rules.  If she comes at me, I'm out of her and if she starts spewing venom I am out of here.  I'm here for her and not for me.  If this will help her, I will do what ever I can, but I won't take any form of abuse from her."  Beth situates herself in her chair as the doctor goes to get Dorothea."Hi Beth.  How are you?"

Beth wasn't sure what to do?  Stand up and give her a hug, shake her hand or do nothing?  It felt right to o nothing.  So she waited for Dot to take a seat.

"You look well, Dot.  How are you feeling?"

With a half smile, Dot tells Beth "I'm doing good considering, I haven't seen my kids in weeks.  They won't talk to me on the phone and they wont even send me letters or cards."

"Dot, the kids have been with Jon's mom.  We were in a car accident and they have been there while we recuperate.  They should be home today.  Jon went to get them before I left.  But they are doing good, really good."

Dorothea looks truly concerned for Jon, "Is Jon okay?  What happened??"

"We were T-boned a few days ago.  The Denali is totaled.  Jon is fine, just fine.  I'll tell him you asked."  Beth forces a fake smile.

The doctor interrupts and begins with, "Beth, Dorothea has requested that you come in and meet because she feels like you are the single cause for her divorce.  She has some questions for you and it's my hope that you answer her honestly, even if you think it will hurt her.  Can you do that?"

Beth agress and reiterates with the doctor, "I am not her to be belittled or disrespected, if her questions can follow those guidelines, let's get started."

The doctor looks to Dorothea to see if she's ready and she nods her head yes.  The doctor nods in response, letting Dorothea that it's okay to proceed.

Dorothea takes a deep breath and flat out asks her, "How can you be with a married man?  You knew he was married, but went ahead with it anyway.  Why?  How?"

Clearing her throat, to give her a few seconds to clean up her response Beth begins to tell Dorothea, "When I met Jon, I was told that he had filed for divorce.  So, I am with a man that's going through a divorce.  That told me that his marriage was over."

"You knew he had kids, didn't that bother you?"

"Bother me that he was a dad?  No.  That he had kids with you? No.  Dot, I am not a homewrecker and I made sure that he was being truthful with me.  Finding out that he had children made him even more attractive and real.  Until that point, he was Jon Bon Jovi."  Beth makes sure that Dot knows that, it's important to Beth that she understands that Jon is a package, that she accepts.  "The kids love me and respect me.  You raised great kids, they are wonderful."

"They are my kids."

"They are yours and they are Jons.  I am not the cause of your breakup."  She's now firming her tone so that Dot knows she's serious and that she means what she is saying.  "And they miss you."  Beth adds.

"Did he really buy you a vineyaard?" Dot questions Beth.

With a look of  'you really are crazy' Beth says, "No, the vineyard is Jons.  Who told you he bought it for me?"  Beth is puzzled now.

Dot feeling like she had been lied to says, "Beth, my attorney's found teh vineyard and it's in your name.  So, did Jon buy you a vineyard in California?"

"Dorothea, I know nothing of my name being on it.  When we were there, he never said a word.  What does this matter anyway?"

"I want you to be honest and catching you in a lie, well, that further proves that you are the reason for my marriage breaking up."

Rearranging herself in her chair, Beth replies to Dot's bullshit.  "Dorothea, I think that Jon walking in on you and whoever that was; gardner, pool boy, groundskeeper - that ruined your marriage.  NOT ME!"  Beth gets s little louder.

So, Dot asks her the hardest question that she had for her, "Will you please back off so that I can try to put my family back together?"

Beth is so blown away by what she just heard, she really didn't know what to say.  So she thought a minute and answered her the best way that she could, "Jon doesn't want to be married to you any longer Dorothea.  We are going to be together, so if you have issues with it, you need to start dealing with it.  The kids are okay with you guys not being together any more.  I'm sorry, I know that's pretty harsh, but I told you I would be honest."

"Why isn't he here?"

"I thought this was about you needing to talk to me."  Beth looks at the doctor, "Was Jon supposed to come?"

"No, she needs to deal with Jon with a one on one." Dr. Fuller explains to Beth.

Dorothea jumps in and looks Beth dead in the eye, "Are you pregnant?"

"Dorothea, that isn't really any of your business, but since you asked - Yes, were are pregnant, with twins.  How did you find out?"

There's a knock on the door.  Dr. Fuller gets up to answer it.  Surprised by who he seen on the other side of the door, just made this session a little more interesting.

Water Ch. 137 - When I Look In Your Eyes - I'm Just Happy I Can

With herself wrapped tight in the arms of the man that she loves with all that she has, she can't help but feel betrayed.  She feels that regardless of why he hid that from her, it never should have happened.  They love one another and after the rocky start that they have had, they shouldn't lie or hide anything.

She was hurt and angry all at the same time, and as she heard him finally doze off to sleep, she was able to put her thoughts together and realize that he did do it for them, for her.  She laid there and tried really hard to put herself in Dot's position, but she couldn't.  Beth lost the man that she loved, forever.  He died and took a part of her with him and she knows that void can never be filled.  Dorothea is losing her marriage, totally different and she can't get into the mindset of suicide.  Not once did Beth even entertain the idea of taking her own life.  Sure she wanted the pain to go away, and death may have done that, but she was much stronger and knew that she would rise above it and be a better person because of it.  Brain was her life, and when she lost him - she never believed that she would be without him.

Beth decided that she would return the call tomorrow, but she will takes Jon's "advice" and wait until the bed rest order is lifted, to go see her.  She would never forgive herself and he would never forgive her if she went to the hospital to see Dot and the pregnancy complications got worse.  She would play by that rule, but her decision is final.  She's going to see Dot, and if she can help her - it's a win win for all involved.  She couldn't not help her, even after Jon said no.  But Dot cried out for help - Beth will be there.

She thought herself to sleep, and in her mind, she had slept like the dead.  The best rest she has had in quite a while.  Jon seemed to be rested as well, when they woke up.  Waking up and seeing her still in bed with him, Jon rolled to his side and was facing his baby's momma and he loved what he had seen.  "Good Morning, gorgeous.  How did you sleep?"

Beth stretched, yawned and said, "Good morning sexy!  How did you sleep?  I slept like a rock."  She rolls her head and kisses him.  Morning breath and all.  She didn't care.  She had never woke to such a beautiful sight and she was grateful and thankful that he was there with her.

"I think I slept like a rock, too.  I was whooped.  Want breakfast yet?"

Beth thinks for a minute, "No, maybe a glass of juice for my vitamin, that's all.  You?  Are you hungry?'

Jon smiles and says, "Yeah, but for nothing that's on our menus."  And he winks.  "How are you feeling?"

"I feel fabulous! Like I could run 5 miles." with a hint of sadness in her voice.  She would love to go for a run, but when on bed rest, that's not an option.

"I'll go get you some juice, do you want anything else?  How's your pain babe?" he leans over and kisses her before he gets out of bed.  He didn't want to get up, and leave her side, but she wanted juice.

She looks at him with curiosity, and gives him a silly look, "What do you mean pain?"

"You were hit pretty hard, I assume you have muscle soreness?  Am I wrong?" he responds, knowing that she has soreness, at the least and could even be in pain.  He wants her comfortable and in bed. He also knows that she will downplay all of it, so he needs to keep an eye on her.

She sits up in bed, fluffs her pillow and claps her hands, "Chop chop, where's my juice?"  She sits back and grabs the remote.  Clicking on the news, their accident was played over and over and she couldn't believe that even the day after, it was still news.  The reporter, repeats that the driver that hit them is fine and home.  Alcohol was not a factor, he just didn't see the stop sign and ran right into the Denali.

"Beth, do you want anything else?  Fruit, yogurt, toast?"  Standing there, looking at her with impatience in his eyes.

"No babe, just the juice.  I think my vitamins are in the bathroom." she really doesn't remember where they are.

He goes down downstairs and gets her a big glass of orange juice and himself a cup of coffee.  Grabbing the morning paper off the counter, he heads back upstairs.  As he gets closer to their bedroom, he can hear Beth talking.  That makes him hurry up a little more.

"Yes, I can do that.  However, I am on bed rest from the accident yesterday.  I can call you when the 'order' is lifted."  and there is a hint of sarcasm in her voice, when she uses the word order.

Jon sits next to her on the bed and mouths, "Who is that?"

Beth flips the phone up, smiles and whispers "It's Dorothea."  And she sees the look of pissed off come over his face.

"Did she call you?"

Beth nods yes.  "Ok, I'll call you in a few days.  If you need anything, please call us."  Beth tells Dorothea just before hanging up the phone.  Jon hands her her juice and gets up to get her vitamin.

Yelling back to her as he's in the bathroom, "Do you really need to talk to her?"

"Jon she called, why wouldn't I talk to her?"

Handing her the horse pill, aka her vitamin "I think you need to not talk with her until you are better and off of doctors orders.  She has a way about her that makes ones blood boil. I don't want her stressing you out."

Beth rolls her eyes, "You keeping secrets and lying to me stresses me more than she ever could, Jon."

"Do we really have to do this now?"  he asks, taking his place next to her on the bed.  He reaches over and rubs her belly, "How are they doing?"

Beth puts her hands on his and holds them in place, "They are doing fine.  How are you doing?  You were jarred pretty good yesterday too.  Sore or anything?"

Shaking his head no, he questions, "Are you still spotting?"

"It's really light and not so bright, so I think it's healing.  It should be all better in a few days."  They both sit there with their hands on her belly, looking at one another, she starts to tear up a little.

"Hey, what's going on?" he sees the tears and he starts to worry.  "Talk to me babe." he kisses her cheek, kissing the tear off her cheek.

Beth just shakes her head no, trying to convince him that there really isn't anything wrong.  "When are the kids coming home?  I miss them.  Can you go get them?"
