Water Ch. 80 - Love Ain't Nothing But A Four Letter Word

It was Jon's turn to take the mic and sing the song that Beth requested. She wanted to see him do Living On A Prayer, in disguise. Jon jumped up there and was legitimately nervous about doing this. Once he heard the music, it was like he was at work. He belted out his best Jon Bon Jovi imitation and the small crowd loved him. At no time on stage did he take off his ball cap or sun glasses, they wanted him judged just by his rendition of Prayer.

Water Ch. 79 - Ordinary People

Jon Bon Jovi reportedly filed for divorce from his long time, high school sweetheart; Dorothea Hurley.  Both are claiming that it's due to 'irreconcilable differences'.  Sources close to the couple say that they remain friendly and that Dorothea approves of Jon's newest girlfriend, Beth Adams.  Beth, a financial advisor, with a name she made for herself has not been able to be reached for comment.  Sources say she has been hospitalized with a head injury and has been moved to a private location, due to security reasons.  Jon Bon Jovi has been at her side, holding vigil until she regains consciousness.  We will keep you up to date with this story as details become available.

Water Ch. 78 - I Just Want To Be Your Man

When they arrived at Beth's house and went inside, she was overwhelmed by the number of floral arrangements that made their way in the house. There were flowers from friends, coworkers and clients, even Warren Buffett. She walked around and enjoy the scent of the many different types of flowers. Jon was a little in awe. He jokes and tells her, "I've never even had that many backstage. You're loved." And he smiles.

Water Ch. 77 - Save A Prayer

The night spent in the hospital was especially long for Jon. He had trouble getting comfortable and he kept thinking about what Beth said about him being the first that hasn't let her down. 'What did she mean?' He thinks out loud? Has she always been so alone that even the simplest of gestures mean so much? 'She has to know what she means to me, for gods sake.'

Water: Ch. 76 - Sleep While I Dream

Arriving back to her room, he noticed that she hasn't even moved a muscle.  That scared him a little bit.  Instead of waking her up, just to wake her up, he decided to get ready for bed first and he'll wake her when he climbs into the twin bed with her.  He's determined he's sleeping with her tonight, in that little bed.

Jon goes into the bathroom, with his bag and takes a shower. He shaved before he got in, so his face would be very soft for her.  She likes that.  He brushed his hair and his teeth and went to get into bed with her.  He reaches up and pulls the covers down and he can see a little blood drop on the pillow when Beth moves over for him.

Yawning, she mumbles, "Have you been gone long?"  He climbed into bed with her and pulled all of her as close to him as she could.  He had to make modifications for her cast, but there was nothing between them.

"I was downstairs for a few minutes making phone calls.  Dorothea and Richie wish you well." he tells her, forgetting that he might get in trouble for telling Dot any thing about Beth's condition. "Did you sleep well?  How are you feeling?  He's worried about the drop of blood on her pillow.

Beth rolls over, and lays on her back and says, "My head feels funny, but it doesn't hurt.  My leg is okay too.  I'm just really hungry, starving."

"Well, you know you can't eat anything.  I'm so glad that your leg feels better." he moves away a little bit and she's able to get her hospital gown on right, since it had twisted.  He has had a hand on her at all times.

He look at her and asks, "Do you want me to was your face and brush your teeth for you?" he's smiling, hoping that she will finally let him do something for her.

She laughs and says, "I would like that very much, thanks Jon.  I feel a little scuzzy and like I have hair on my teeth." She rubs her tongue and say "ick."

"Do you want to do it in bed, or go do it in the bathroom?  Either way is up to you. And your wish is my command." standing up to take her hand.  He looks at her beautiful body and says, "Even all beat up with that crazy cast on your leg, you are so sexy."

"Shut up, Jon.  I look like I rolled over death.  How do you see sexy?' she giggles at him.  And she loves that he feels that way and that he can voice it to her.  "Do you have any idea to me how sexy you have been looking?"  She is always in the mood to get naked with him,  Always.

Beth managed to get her broken and beat up body to the edge of the bed and Jon helps her stand.  He gives her a moment to get her bearing and they slowly walk to the bathroom.  She sits down on the toilet.

Jon gathers the face soap, a face cloth, toothpaste and toothbrush and warms the cloth in warm water.  Once it's wet, he walk over to his baby and slowly wipes her face.  Remembering that he needs to be gentle, due to her injuries.  While Jon rinses the rag and adds soap to it, Beth ask, "Who did you need to call?  What's going on?'  She's only curious and she tried really hard to not sound nosey.  She knows that are several parts of Jon life that IS private and he'll bring her into it when he's ready.

"Well, let me see.  First I was caught by the paparazzi and we had a nice talk."  He is gently washing her neck, chest, her breasts and her back.  "They knew about my divorce, because Dot gave an interview yesterday to Vogue.  I confirmed what she said, so the whole world knows it by now.  They were comparing your hair color to Dot.  Because the woman that's claiming to be Dot is blonde.  I set all of that straight.  They asked if I did this to you.  They heard the Coast Guard call, and rushed over her.  I told them your name is Beth, your treatment worked and that you should be released tomorrow.  That's it." he is waiting for the bomb to drop.

She is glad that he was able to do it, maybe their lives will be less of an issue for the paparazzi.  She asked, "What about Dot?  Talk to her?"  She already knows the answer.

Jon takes a clean rag and rinses the soap off of Beth's body and pats her dry with w big white towel, covering her with the towel until hes finished.  Beth puts he feet up on the edge of the bathtub so he can get her legs, and he does.  "My talk with Dot was quick.  Told her where I was and why?  She asked if you were okay.  I gave her your diagnosis and treatment, and told her you will make a full recovery.  That maybe you will get out of here tomorrow.  She wished you well and reminded me of an event I have this weekend"  He gets up to get another clean rag to rinse her legs.  While he is taking the hot rag and running it up and down her leg, he is using is other hand to just touch her.  Rubbing her other leg, she tells him, "I'm getting goose bumps, babe.  And they aren't the cold kind."  She looks at her rockstar and gives him the wink smile that he so loves.

"Oh, really - goosebumps?  Do you want me to stop?  I'm just trying to relax my baby so she can get a good night sleep."  With another clean rag he washes her ladies parts and is extra careful to get the soap off of that.  He knows how soap left behind can hurt and cause problems.  She stand there and lets him giver her a face to foot bath and he loved that he was there to do it for her.  He"ll do anything for her.

He helps her get to the sink and leaves her there for a few minutes to brush her teeth. And she does just that.  Scrubbing her tongue felt awesome and she knows she had been brushing for too long, because it start to hurt, so she finished and went back to her bed.  There was a hospital gown folded on her bed, so she put that on and sat on her bed.  Jon was gone.  He had gone and asked for some lotion he could rub all over her.  The nurse gave him a bottle of VS Secret Garden.  Someone received it as a gift but was unable to use it do to allergies.  Jon thanks the nurse and returned to his mistress.

When he returned, he told Beth to disrobe and that he is going to giver her a full body rub down.
"Jon, you don't need to do that.  I feel much better from the sleep I just had." he moves up to her and unties the gown ties and it falls to to the floor.  He can't help him self, he reaches up and rubs her breasts and wants nothing more than to put them in his mouth.  Instead he leans into her and kisses her on the lips. First a peck, a little harder peck and then he goes in with the tongue and teeth.  His passion for her, surprises him.  He wants to be with her 24/7.

He picks her up and lays her on the back, and uses a loose sheet to cover the parts that her won't be working on.  He starts rubbing her arms, up and down to get the circulation moving and the he wraps his wrists around her wrist and pulls the tension from her hands all of the way up to her arms, releasing tension.  She is moaning in pure pleasure and she hope he takes forever to do the rest of her.

Jon is happy that she was receptive to this, seeing how they were in a hospital.  Beth didn't care who has seen her naked.  She has a beautiful body and she loved it.  Never been ashamed and never hid it.

He's working her back when Beth asks him, "Who else did you talk to?  Anyone?"

"As a matter of fact, I talked to Richie.  We are postponing a show I had this week and Richie will cover me at my football teams open season.  That was my schedule for the week.  And now I have nothing schedule for the week, so I can take care of you."e explains to her and when she heard the word cancel, she got a little pissed off.

"Why did you cancel the show Jon?" she conveyed that she was pissed.

He was surprised by her tone and he plainly said, "I'll go home to take care of you."

"You need to go back to work, you are driving me bonkers."  she didn't mean to sound ungrateful, she really didn't.

In his own defense, "Beth, you are going to need someone for a day or two when you get home.  I'm taking you home and not doing the show."  Looks at her like the 'end of discussion.  Well, the end of the discussion look doesn't work with Beth.  She's just as stubborn and just as tough.

"Ya, know what there, Jon.  You will go to the show.  Where is it?" she asks and she has a reason.

"This one I believe is up on Napa.  For a winery school, I don't know all the details, I think it's Friday. Why?" hes curious to know what she running through her mind.

Beth starts to tell him, when they are interrupted by the nurse with more pain medication.  "Please just set it over there, I'll take it when he's done."

The nurse smiles to let Beth know that she heard what she said and complies with the request.  The nurse leaves again, reminding Beth no food or drink.

Water Ch. 75 - Not Fade Away

He doesn't know what to say, but with her, he's always known what to do.  And he does what comes naturally.  He holds her and lets her cry.  Her cry is not one of heartbreak or sadness, it's one of finally.  She has met someone that doesn't turn her back on her when she needs them most.  It's not someone that neglects her and abuses her.  And it's not one that dies on her, leaving her alone to deal with the sadness.

Water Ch. 74 - Bullet

"You don't remember what happened?" He mumbles, with his lips on the top of her head. He can't believe she's awake. In his head, he's thanking God.

She looks around the hospital room and said, "What happened, why am I here?" Lifting her arm, looking at her IV. Beth really has no recollection of what happened. "Last thing I recall is laying in the sun on the yacht."

Jon sits on the bed next to her and says, "You had a blood clot and went unconscious on the yacht. I couldn't wake you up. We had the Coast Guard pick you up and bring you here. How are you feeling?" He will make sure that she is as comfortable as she can be and he'll do whatever it takes to get her well.

"My leg hurts and I have a headache. How long have I been in here?" She asks, looking at her rock star in his shorts, Nike T-shirt and his ball cap.

Jon tells Beth that she's only been there for a few hours.

She leans forward and pulls on her pillows. Jon stands up and helps her get settled. Pulling her blankets straight, he takes her hand and says, "I'm going to get the doctor. I'll be right back." He turns to leave and adds, "If you do anything like this to me again, there won't be another until next time." She smiles, she knows he's just messing with her.

Jon returns a few minutes later with what appeared to be a doctor, to Beth. Both men walked up to the side of her bed. The man in the white coat says, "Hello" as he extends his hand, "I'm Dr. Halloran. You gave everyone a bit of a scare. How are you feeling?" They shake hands.

"Nice to meet you." Beth says with a little hesitation in her voice. "My leg is killing me and I have a headache. Can I get something?" She doesn't like to take medicine, but her pain is bad enough to make her request medication. She looks to Jon for comfort. He sees that and sits down next to her again, with his arm around her.

Dr. Halloran looked at Beth and said, "Let me check a few things on you first and I'll see what I can do about pain meds. Okay?"

Taking his stethoscope off his neck and putting the buds in his ears, he asks Beth, as he places the pad on her chest, "Deep breaths." Beth inhales and exhales. Dr. Halloran moved the pad to various spots and listened to her heart and her lungs.

Finished with his physical exam he asks Beth the date. Beth thinks for a minute and tells him the date. He then asks her her own name, and she gives that to him as we'll, knowing what he's doing. He follows that up with, "Where are you?"

Beth has no idea where she is. And she tells the Dr. that. "I have no idea where I am now. I was on a yacht sunbathing on my way to L.A. from the Bahama's. Where I am now, I don't think Jon told me."

Smiling at her, Dr. Halloran says, "You're in San Diego. The Coast Guard brought you in several hours ago. Do you remember any of that?" He's still checking for memory loss and signs of another, or a continuous cranial bleed.

Beth leans her head on Jon and sighs, and he squeezes her tight. He is so thankful that she's okay now, and he knows that she will be okay.

"The last thing I remember is Jon and I deciding what we wanted to have to eat. I was laying on the deck and Jon went to tell the chef what we wanted. And then I woke up here." She feels herself getting a little anxious, thinking that if she failed these tests the doctor wouldn't give her anything for her pain. And her pain was getting worse. "Can I have pain medication now?" with her head still on Jon's shoulder.

Dr. Halloran nodded yes and told her, "Since we gave you blood thinners, we are limited on what we can give you. Are you allergic to anything? Or are you sick to your stomach at all ?"

Beth shakes her head no and says, "I'm not allergic to anything and I'm starving. Can I eat something?" She asks, as she can hear her stomach growling.

Jon jumps in and says, "We could have eaten, had you not fallen into a coma and about killed me." Again, squeezing her tight. Beth gives him the look like 'really?'

Dr. Halloran stood at Beth's bedside and made notes in her chart, keeping an eye on Beth's movements. He's satisfied that the treatment worked and he's thrilled she has an appetite, but denies her food. With a frown on his face he looks at Beth and says, "I am thrilled that you want to eat, but for the next 24 hours, I'm keeping you at nothing by mouth; which means no food or drink."

The doctor can see the anger in the little woman's eyes, and he tells her, "With the condition you just had, I want to keep your stomach empty in case we need to operate. Don't let that alarm you, it's just a precaution." He's using his hands in a way that demonstrates calmness, talking about a pretty serious situation. That causes a tad bit of concern for Beth and Jon and he sees that and continues, "Typically with clots like this, if you're going to have complications after one, we would see it in the first 24 hours - meaning that if you were to have another one break loose, it'd be in the 24 hours after we have thinned your blood."

He continues with his hand gestures and the jotting down of his notes while he's explaining this and Jon gets a little bit irritated with him. "Can you look at us while you're talking to us please." snaps Jon in his best New Jersey accent. This catches the doctor off guard and he looks up at Jon.

With his training and his years of experience in the field of medicine, Dr. Halloran replies to Jon with his best bed side manner, "I'm sorry Mr. Bon Jovi, I don't mean to do that. I get so wrapped up in what I'm writing." Placing his clipboard, Beth's chart, at his side he looks at Beth and tells her that he's sorry as well.

"You mean to tell me that there is a good chance that this will happen again?" Beth is still hung up on the word 'operate', that's all she really heard. Her concerns are growing fast as well as her anxiety level. She's freaking out inside and she could feel Jon tense up when he heard the words that she did.

"The lady that did her tests said that she will recover 100% and there was no permanant damage.  How can she say one thing and you tell us another?" Jon gets up off the bed and faces the doctor.  He is now pissed and getting worried. He needs a better answer and he wants it now.  "Get us a specialist or refer her to one."  He's standing there ringing his hands and about ready to explode.  His day has  been a very long one and he hasn't the patience for the run around.

Dr. Halloran can see Jon's frustration and he can also understand it, and he also knows that at this time of day they aren't going to get into see one, so he does the next best thing.  "Since it's late in the day and I know that I won't be able to reach the specialist, how about I call in a favor and have one here for you first thing in the morning?"  It sounded logical to the doctor, but he would soon see that it wasn't logical for Beth.  And as soon as he seen her displeasure, he knew the rock star was soon to interject his thoughts and feelings.

Beth sits up in her bed and firmly says, "Can I have some pain medicine please?"  Looking the doctor dead in the eye so that he could see that she's serious.  "Jon, the specialist is fine in the morning.  I'm already here, I'll just stay and see what the specialist has to say."  She spoke in a way that both men would know that there was no further need to discuss it, the subject was dead where she left it.

"But babe, I can have you to the best doctor's in the country in a matter of hours.  There has to be good ones in L.A."  Jon says, seeing Beth shake her head no, he knows he's not going to win this one.  He stops, knowing deep inside that he has met his match.

The doctor asks her if she is able to tolerate vicodin and Beth simply tells him that yes she can.  He turns to go get her pain medicine and asks Jon, "Can I get you anything, Mr. Bon Jovi?"

"No, I'm fine.  Thank you though.  I'd really like for her to egt some relief though, can you make that happen?" The rockstar asks, with a tone that shows authority.

"I'm going to get it now, but Beth, until you see the specialist tomorrow, please nothing to eat or drink." The doctor reminds her and leaves the room.  While he is at the nurses station writing up his orders for pain medication, he calls in his favor like he had offered, and his friend will be in to see Beth before he makes rounds at a nearby hospital in the morning.

While he is standing there taking care of Beth's medical needs the nurse in charge asks him a question, "Dr., what should I tell the reporters that are calling?  They are telling me that she isn't his wife."

Trying to remain professional and not belittling his nurse, Dr. Halloran turns to his charge nurse and says, "We tell them nothing and who she is, isn't our business.  Take this to Miss Adams, and she is NPO until discharge."  He rudely hands her the vicodin and walks away.  The nurse is left there to feel like an idiot, however, she gets up and takes Beth her medicine.

Both Beth and Jon thank the nurse, not knowing the drama that she just tried to create with the doctor. The nurse half assed reminded Beth to not eat or drink anything and to press the call button if she needed anything further.  She leaves them alone.

Jon still standing at her bedside, taking his ball cap off and running his fingers through his hair, Beth can see he's pretty stressed.  She throws the covers back, and tells her rockstar, "Get in here with me." She pats the space that's available next to her.  "Come on."  She smiles and winks at him.

The wink and the smile from her was all he needed.  He walked over and closed the door.  Walking back towards the bed he asked, "Is there anything else I can do for you babe?"  Reaching the bed, he sits on the edge and kicks off his shoes.  Spins back and lays down next to his broken girlfriend, confident he is going to  fix her.  Beth takes full advantage of him being next to her, gently lays her aching head on his chest.  He wraps his arms around her and they lay there and talk.

"When's your next show?" she asks, not sure she can remember.

He chuckles and replies, "Hell, I have no clue.  It might be in a day or two.  I'll call Dawn or Obie tomorrow and see.  I really don't care at this point." Squeezing her tight and kissing her head, ignoring the times that her hair is tickling his nose.

Beth is concerned because it was his job.  She wasn't letting him cancel shows, wasn't going to happen.  "Well, you need to  find out because you can't miss a show Jon."  She tilts her head to look at him.  He says nothing, he just softly kisses her on the lips and she melts.

Beth has an independant soul and hates very much when people do things for her.  She didn't HAVE a hand growing up, and she definately didn't NEED one now.  All she can think about is how much of a bother she has been and she feels a little embarrased.  First the whirl wind romance, the accident and now this?  So much emotion for a relationship that has only just started.  She can't help but feel like she may be too much trouble?

"Jon?"

"Mm hmm?" he mumbes.

"Thank you." she tells him, with all the love in her voice she could possibly convey.

Looking down at her, he asks, "For what?"  And he asks in a way that she thinks he may not see what he has in fact done for her.

She sits up on her elbow, tucking her pillow under her side, looks at him and says the one thing that will haunt him forever, "You could have left me in St. Bart's, you could have left me here.  But you didn't.  You're the first person that hasn't let me down."  She starts to cry.

Water Ch. 73 - Superman Tonight

When they arrived to the hospital in San Diego, Beth was taken immediately to the ICU ward. They check her in and they add Jon as her emergency contact. When he’s done with that, he goes into ICU with her and ask the doctor what the next step was. He tells Jon that they need to run some tests and take some pictures and they should know more in a little while.

Jon was with Beth and wasn’t going to leave until he knows what’s wrong with her. He’s gently rubbing her face and talking to her, with the hopes that she wake up soon. He has no idea what to do, other than to let her know that he’s there. Stroking her face, he leans over and repeatedly kisses her face, telling her “Come on baby, I just found you, I can’t lose you.” And he kisses her some more. No response.

A little while later, a hospital employee walked in and said, “Hello, my name is Missy, I’ll be taking your wife down to get a cat scan and an MRI. Will you be going down with us?” Jon just looks at her and just shakes his head yes. He wasn’t going to bother with correcting her, that detail was unimportant right now.

Missy unlocks Beth's bed and starts to take her downstairs to to get her tests done when it finally hits Missy. She looks at the rockstar that’s following closely behind her and says, “Aren’t you Jon Bon Jovi?” Again, Jon just looks at her and shakes his head yes. He wasn’t going to make a big deal out of it. The girl had a job to do and he didn’t want to get into the whole oh my God, I love you nonsense. Beth needed her test and she needed it now.

Missy gets Beth down to imaging and Jon waits in the waiting room. As soon as Beth is taken back, a woman approaches him with a laptop on a cart and introduces herself. Jon knows what she wants and as soon as she gets the words; “Hi. I’m Jennifer. I work in patient registration and I need to get a few details from you.”

Jon wiggles and sits up in his chair and says, “What do you need?”  Knowing that her job was to get the billing information.  They have just admitted a women with an unknown diagnosis and it was going to get expensive.

“Can you provide any insurance information for Miss Adams? We have nothing on file for her.” she quietly says so that no one will over hear this information.

Jon gets out of his chair and looks Jennifer in the eye and calmly says, “I don’t know anything about her health insurance but don’t worry about it. I will pay cash for everything. Ok?”

“Okay, are you aware of what these procedures may cost?” Jennifer has no idea who she is talking to. And Jon doesn’t want to explain it or introduce himself.

“I am aware and I will pay cash.” And he walks away. He moved closer to the door that Beth had been taken through. He wasn’t able to see her through the window that was in the middle of the door. Jennifer stood there for a few minutes, expecting him to say something else. He turns and sees her there and asks, “Did you need something else?” With a little bit of anger in his voice.

Jennifer was shocked by his tone and asked him, “May I have your name to put you as her responsible party? For my records. I need to know where to send the bills, sir.” She was polite, however, she didn’t believe he had the means to pay the bill, so she wanted to get as much information as she could before she walked away.

“My name” he says quietly, but firmly, “is Jon Bon Jovi.” As soon as he got those three words out of his mouth, he could see the light bulb go on. He thought to himself, good now she’ll leave me alone.

“I will list you as responsible party, may I have your address?” she’s just trying to do her job. She wasn’t trying to irritate him or piss him off.

He is getting irritated and she is pissing him off now. The woman that he loves is in a medically critical state and the hospital is concerned about getting paid, he understands that. “I will give all that information when I check her out. Could you please leave me alone now?” He’s serious now, he wants to be left alone. He doesn’t want to be bothered by the technical stuff right now.

Jennifer honors his request and leaves him be.  He is left there all alone and has nothing but his thoughts to keep him occupied.  He is thinking the worst, praying for the best and is dying to know how she's doing.

He starts to pace and after a few minutes, Missy appears again and says, "Relax, Mr. Bon Jovi.  Your wife will be just fine.  She had a small blood clot break loose and lodged in the parietal lobe of her brain, causing the unconsciousness and the lack of pain response.  We have given her a blood thinner, to prevent another one and we think that the treatment will move the one that's lodged and she will recover.  There was no permanent damage to her brain and recovery will be 100%.  At first she may have slight memory loss, but that will pass as long as you refresh her of her memories.  You acted fast and the Coast Guard did a great job getting her here in time.  Strokes can be really bad, and better for lack of a better word.  If you're going to have a stroke, where hers is is the best place.  She is lucky that it didn't make it to her heart or lung.  The story could be very different."  Missy walks up to Jon, rubs his shoulder and says, "She's very lucky with every one's fast thinking and even faster action.  You can go see her now.  She should wake up soon.  Go, go be with her."

Confused, relieved and still scared he told Missy, "Thank you for your help regarding this, I know you have other patients to tend to, but I am forever grateful for your follow through."  he leans in to shake Missy's hand.

Jon went back with Beth to her room, once Missy took her back.  Jon pipes up and says, "How long will she have to stay here?  I don't know what I need to do for her when I take her home.  Will she need round the clock care?"

"I'd like to keep her over night and give her a once over before I release her.  She should be fine.  Go sit with her.  She might want you there when she wakes up."  Missy reminds Jon.  He shakes his head in agreement and went and sat next to his baby's bed.

Holding her hand, resting his head on them, he can feel the tears coming.  He doesn't want her to see him cry, but he thought what the hell?  She scared the crap out of me, I can cry, and he did.  His  tears come like he never thought that they would, but they showed him that she was the one for him.  Laying there with his head on their hands, he thanks God.  "God thank you for this second chance of happiness.  I am grateful that you didn't take her from me."

About an hour later, he was on the verge of falling asleep, with his head on their hands.  His deep sleep wasn't far away, and when he finally dozed - he dozed deep.  He wanted to be and stay as close to her as possible.  So the chair that is across the room, wasn't an option. The hum of the air system sent him to sleep, plus it's pretty quiet in ICU.

He was startled awake by someone touching his hair and face.  Sitting up and looking around, he sees that Beth is waking up.  "Hey baby, where have you been?  How do you feel?  Do you want me to get your a nurse or a doctor?"  He has a smile on his face from ear to ear.  He stands up, while still holding her hand - he kisses her on the lips and said, "Welcome back babe."  Kisses her again.

"What the hell happened? she asked him, remembering nothing.

Water Ch. 72 - Love Me Back To Life

The two of them are sitting there laughing over the possibility of a long distance relationship, both knowing that one was going to have to relocate if this was going to work.  Neither one of them wanted to be without one another, and neither one of them wanted to concede and move.  And at this moment, they weren't overly worried about it.  They were on vacation.

Water Ch. 71 - Novicane

Jon does not know what to say.  This is one time where the word wizard has no idea what to say.  He didn't see this one coming.  No one could have.  She took him out with just once sentence.  Wow.

“What more would you like to know? She asks, “I’ll tell you anything you want to know. Baby, I will have no secrets in this relationship. So, where do you want to start?” She means every word she just said.

Water Ch. 69 - Father Time

The morning was as beautiful as anything Beth had ever seen. She woke up before Jon and quietly made her way to the bathroom. She was getting good at using objects along her route, to get where she needed without using the cumbersome crutches. She brushed her teeth, put on her robe and made her way to the kitchen. She wanted to surprise him with breakfast in bed. He deserved it and she wanted to do that for him. It's the least she could do for him, she thought.

Water Ch. 68 - Letter To A Friend

He still has his head resting on the table looking at her, slowly putting his hand on her leg to assure her that he's ready for anything she could say. He doesn't expect any surprises, but he's ready.

Water Ch. 67 - This Ain't A Love Song 2005

Beth was more than impressed with the accommodations on the yacht.  She was used to a certain 'class' in her own life, and this shadows what she's used to.  She looks around and thinks that four days on this won't be so bad.  She walks up to Jon, who's behind the bar pouring her a glass of wine, kisses him softly on the lips and says, "This might be your best idea yet, Mr....oh, excuse me, I mean Dr. Bon Jovi."

Water Ch. 66 -

The sound of a telephone is the last thing you want to hear when you're taking the unexpected nap.  Beth had fallen asleep while Jon was kissing her boo boos, her pain medicine kicked in at just the right time.  And as opposed to waking her up and getting on the boat, he snuggled in next to her and fell asleep himself.  He laid there staring at her for quite a while before he gave into his own sleepiness and dozed off.

Ring, Ring............Ring, Ring was what they woke up to.  Beth's cell phone was on the nightstand, lighting up and vibrating while it rang.  Jon reached over and handed it to Beth, glancing at the caller ID.  He seen it was a New Jersey number, but that's all he could tell.  She took the phone, looked at the caller ID and shrugged her shoulders, telling Jon she had no idea who it was.  Answering it, "Hello."

"Let me talk to my husband." was all she heard, and Jon heard it too.  He rolled his eyes and extended his hand, so she could pass him the telephone.

Beth feeling great and rested, with Jon at her side said, "Hello Dorothea, how are you?"

Dorothea was in no mood for flakiness or condescending attitudes, telling Beth, "I need to talk to Jon, I heard he was with you.  If he's there, can I speak to him, please."

"Just a minute."  Beth tried.  She gave it effort, and Dorothea wasn't receptive, so screw it.  She handed Jon the phone, whispering, "I tried."

Jon takes the phone and sits up, he can tell this isn't a conversation that he can lay down for.  Plainly and with no affect he says, "Hello."  And that's all he needed to say to set Dot off.

"Are you watching TV?  Are you seeing what's being said?" she barks at Jon, and just keeps going.  "How can you keep doing this to me?"

"Whoa, whoa what the hell are you talking about?" Jon has no idea what she's barking about.  The TV?  He can't remember the last time that he watched TV.  It was probably in Foxboro with Stephanie.  "Calm down, tell me what you're talking about."  Getting up off the bed, he starts to pace a little bit.

"There are pictures of you two in the Bahama's.  When were you in the Bahama's, Jon?"  Dorothea was upset and Jon could hear she was crying.  "What happened to her?  The pictures show she has a broken leg."  Jon is recalling the paparazzi from earlier today.  Fuck! he thinks to himself.

"Dorothea, I'm in the Bahama's right now, and yes, Beth has a broken leg.  Didn't you get the message?"  he asks her, assuming the message would have been relayed to her when the band got back to town, but apparently that didn't happen.  She is beyond pissed.

Dot cannot believe what she's hearing.  "You're in the Bahama's right now??"  He can hear that the hurt is quickly turning to anger.  Not wanting Beth to overhear it, he gets up and takes the conversation out to the patio.  Beth sits up, a little puzzled by that, but she respects it.

"I'm in the St. Bart's right now, yes - we are leaving today to go to L.A.  I'll be back the beginning of the week.  And what am I doing to you?"  he's on the verge of just hanging up on her.  He doesn't feel that he should have to explain anything to her anymore, but out of respect he does.  And when she starts making it about her, that's where he really gets pissed.

Dorothea begins to calm down, taking a deep breath she asks, "Why can't you keep this hidden a little longer?  I don't like seeing you on TV just yet, Jon."

"Dot, I came down here under the cloak of darkness.  No one knew I was here, but they knew Beth was here because of her accident.  We have PUT nothing out in the public.  What were the pictures of?  What are they saying?" she has peaked his curiosity, and now he wonders what everyone is saying.

"It's picture of you and her on a patio, kissing.  There's one that shows she's angry with you, and the black eyes don't help.  What happened to her?  Is she okay?"  Dorothea really doesn't care how any of this might make Jon look and she really doesn't care how Beth is.

"She had an accident, she'll be okay.  I have only been here since yesterday.  I had a show in Atlanta, remember?" Dorothea often forgets Jon's schedule, and typically doesn't care what he's doing but this is different somehow.

"What do you expect me to tell the kids and our family?" She asks Jon.

He is upset now, "Why do you have to tell anyone anything? It's not any one's concern."

"Well I'm sure your parents with have questions if they see the pictures and so will the kids. Since no one can call you." She retorts with a whole lot of cockiness, sending Jon over the edge.

"Tell the kids I love them and I'll see them when I get back. If they have questions, they can call me on Beth's phone. Goodbye Dorothea." And he hands up on her. Done with explaining anything to her.

Walking back inside he sees Beth has gotten up. She's in the common area of the suite, talking with Tammy and her boss. Jon can hear Beth telling Tammy about Jon coming in to save her day and that they are leaving on that big yacht 'parked' out there in the ocean. Tammy had to go look at it. She was in awe and she admitted, a little jealous. Jon walks up to Tammy and says, "One day, your night in shining armor will sail in to save you." He chuckles at himself, thinking that's exactly what he did, kind of.

Beth and her boss discuss her work schedule.  William tells her that she's good to stay off from work until he cast comes off, at the earliest.  He would really like st see her take more time off.  If anyone NEEDS her. they will call her, but only if she's needed.  Beth tells her boss that she will come back when she's ready, she'd really like to get her office moved.

William and Tammy leave and Jon and Beth get ready to get on the boat.  Beth is anxious to see the beauty that waiting for her out there on the sea and she's wanting her trip home to begin.

Packing up their bags, they head down to the doc where a local is waiting for them to take them out to the yacht.  They hand down their bags and step into the little speed boat that will taking them to their floating vacation.  Jon and Beth sit there, hand in hand and they so see the paparazzi snapping pics.  Jon gives them all the New Jersey salute and they make their way to the yacht.  Climbing aboard was a little more difficult for Beth than she thought, but she managed.  They were safely on board the yacht and on their way to L.A.

Jon was happy that he had her alone, and she was more than happy to be his hostage,

Water Ch. 65 - I'm With You 2005

Beth wakes up and finds herself alone.  The patio door is open and there is a beautiful breeze blowing through her room. "Was I dreaming that Jon was here?" she asks herself.   Sitting up, she looks around and sees his travel bag, so she wasn't dreaming. She worked herself over to the edge of the bed and waited for a minute before she stood. Jon had left her crutches close. Making her way into the bathroom to pee and brush her teeth, she seen that Jon had showered. With his clothes on the bathroom floor, she knew he didn't leave the island. She just had no idea where he was. Finishing up in the bathroom, she manages to wobble herself out onto the patio. There was a room service tray with juice, coffee and all of Beth's favorite fruits on the table. She could tell Jon had coffee, cause there was a cup half full. She looked down the beach, and there he was....her Italian God walking towards her in nothing but his swim shorts and a ball cap.

He seen her making her way out onto the patio and ran up to greet her.  Kissing her, he says, "Good Morning beautiful, how are you feeling?"  He pulls out a chair so she can sit down.

"Thank you, I feel better than I did yesterday.  I think your bath was the fix all I needed."  she tells her  rockstar.  He pours her some coffee and adds just the right amount of sugar that she likes and hands her the cup.  She gives him a smile.

He pulls out the chair next to her and takes a seat, and he is all that she can look at.  "How long have you been up?  Better yet, what time is it?" she asks.

Pouring himself a glass of water he tells her, "I've been up a couple of hours.  And if I had to guess, it's about 11:00."  He drinks the glass empty and pours another one.  Beth takes a plate of fruit and starts to nibble on some pineapple.  There is just something about pineapple in a tropical location, she can't help herself.

"I had a flight this morning, why didn't you wake me up?" she inquires.  She's trying to think of a good reason for him to not wake her up.  He knows she wants to go home.  "My flight was the only direct one, Jon.   Were you up in time?"  she sets the plate down and sits on the edge of her seat.

He reaches over and takes her hand and simply says, "You'll get home, will you relax?"

"No, I won't relax.  I need to go home.  I want to go home."  she's frustrated because she can't storm off and make the point that she's upset.  She sits there and looks at him, with a little bit of anger.  From what she knew, she was booked on the only direct flight out of there to L.A., now she's thinking that she has to wait until tomorrow.  She is getting angrier by the second.  "Damn, it Jon, why didn't you wake me up?"

"Will you calm down a minute, so I can tell you what's going on." he asks as nice as he could.

"What's going on Jon?  Other than I'm stuck in paradise with a cast on my leg for one more day?  Has Tammy been by?" she get a little louder.

He can see that she is pretty pissed off, so he tells her, "When I heard you were hurt, I couldn't get here fast enough.  I know you want to go home, and baby, I want to take you home.  But, I would like us to spend a couple of days together, before you get back to L.A. and before I have to go back.  I know that's selfish of me and I'm sorry, but I want to be with just you." he pauses, waiting for a reaction out of Beth. When she doesn't fly off the handle he continues with, "I know I could use a few days of down time.  I am exhausted."  Setting his glass back on the table, he gets up to get a towel, to wipe the sweat off of his face, he's still sweaty from his run.

Beth sits there and thinks for a minute, looking out over the pristine and warm water that she isn't able to walk in.  She would love nothing more than to take a walk on the beach with Jon or put her bikini on and swim with him in the ocean.  She wants to just be with him.  And being in paradise,  not being able to do the things you do in paradise just bummed her even more.

Jon steps back out onto the patio and sits back in his chair.  Beth looks over at him and can't help but melt.  He hit her in her soft spot.  He needed a vacation, what could she say to that?  She just had one when she was out East to meet his family.  It's fair that he gets some time.  "What do you have in mind?  I really don't want to stay here Jon."  she puts it out there.  He knows he has her, in the palm of his hand.

Smiling that billion dollar smile he says, "Look out there, do you see that boat?"  he points to a yacht that's anchored out to sea a little bit.  Beth nods her head yes, while she takes a drink of her coffee.  "That's how you're getting home."  The coffee that was in her mouth caused her to choke when she gasped for air, in disbelief.

Her coughing fit only last for a few seconds and she says to Jon, "Are you kidding me?  That's how I'm getting home?"  She is amazed at the size and the beauty of it.

"That's one way for you to get home.  If you're opposed to the long way home, I'll fly you home.  I thought that the yacht would be perfect, for both of us." he wants her to be happy, he wants her to be happy with him and the decision he made regarding them.  Beth really has no idea what this man will do for her.

"Jon, I don't know what to say. It's beautiful.  Is it yours?"  she responds to the gesture that was more than selfish, it was selfless.

Shaking his head no, "It's a buddies boat, I used to use it quite a bit, but no so much over the last couple of years.  It should take us 4 days to get to LA, at the latest.  It's fully staffed, all we have to do is enjoy ourselves."  he hooked her.  He's getting excited, thinking of being alone with her at sea.  No phones, no assistants, no wife, no band, no career - just the two of them.

"BETH.......JON!  " someone yells to the left of them.  They both turn their heads quickly and are shocked to see paparazzi.  Beth hides her face as Jon jumps off to chase them off.  When she sees it's safe to get up, she heads back into her room and puts her robe on.  She was only wearing panties and a tshirt - she is mortified.  How long have they been there?  What did they hear, what did they see?  Once she is covered, she goes back out onto the patio.

She can see Jon about 500 feet down the beach, very animated, talking to two photographers.  The animation diminishes and he heads back to the room.  The whole time he's saying to himself, I can never go anywhere.

"What did you say to them?" Beth wondered.  She could see the Italian in him when he talks with his hands, not only is it sexy; it's powerful.

"I asked them how they knew we were here.  I came in under the radar last night.  No one knew I was here.  The one guy said that he knew you were here, somewhere, from the police radio.  He heard about your accident and tried to get into the hospital.  I told him he was an asshole and walked away."  he puts his arms around her and gives her a Jonny hug.  Her body conforms and she holds him as tight as she can.  He whispers in her ear, "They can't find us out at sea."

Looking up, she kisses him like she hasn't kissed him before.  She grabs his bottom lip with her teeth and he goes weak in the knees, "Let's get out of here." she says to him, with his lip still between her teeth.  He picks her up under the arms and carries her inside.  She finally let go of his lip, just so she could feel his tongue in her mouth. He takes her to the bed and lays her gently on her back.  "The door, please close the door."  Is all she says to him.  She doesn't want their intimate moments displayed on the cover of newspapers and magazines.  He closes the patio door and makes sure the drapes are drawn.

Paying attention to her comfort level, he progresses at a pace her body says that it's okay.  He lays next to her on the bed and starts kissing her belly, pushing her shirt up to expose her breasts.  She closes her eyes and tells herself to relax.  She wants this man to devour her and leave her begging for more, but she can't relax and enjoy it.  She is bruised and battered and knows she's not very sexy right now.  Jon can sense her tension.

"Hey, what's going on up there?" he asks, concerned there might be something on her mind.

She looks him in the eye, looks at his nose and her eyes landed on his lips.  She reaches up for him and pulls his lips to hers, "I'm not feeling very sexy right now."

Pulling back, he says, "You do know that you're sexy as hell, right?"

"I'm just not feeling it, I'm sorry.  But you have to know that I would love nothing more than to make love to you right now." she plops her head back on the bed, feeling defeated.  He lays next to her and soaks up the beauty that she really is.

"I understand." he comforts her and leans over and starts kissing her belly again.  "I'm going to kiss all of your boo boo's and make them all better.  And I'm going to start with this one right here."  referring to the scratch that's just under her right breast.

Water Ch. 64 - Last Cigarette

She woke up when she heard a knock at the door. Lifting her head to look for Tammy and not seeing her was a slight surprise. Tammy must have had her fill of Beth today, Beth knows she was hard on her, she didn't mean it. She'll make up for it when they get back to LA. Beth has no idea what time it is, so she's guessing its room service that she ordered earlier. Much earlier, she thought. It's dark out now.

Water Ch. 64 - Love Lies. 2005

"Stephanie, wake up - it's dad."  he says to his daughter that's half asleep still.  She woke up long enough to answer the phone.

"Hi dad, I'm up.  It's 8:00.....What do you want?' the sleepy teenager says to her dad, with a little irritation.

"I need Beth's phone number.  I left my phone at the house, and I want to call her.  I know you have it." he tells his daughter.  She sits up in bed and reaches for her backpack that's on the floor next to her bed.  Digging through it, she isn't having any luck finding it, so she dumps it out on her bed.  Sorting through her crap that falls out, she sees the heart shaped piece of paper that Jon had wrote Beth's info on.  He gave the contact info to Stephanie, Jesse and Dorothea.  For emergency purposes.

"Do you have something to write on?" Stephanie asks her dad.  She knows he does.

"I'm ready." he's getting excited.  He's just a few moments away from talking to Beth.  He misses her.

Stephanie rattles off Beth's phone number to her dad.  Her dad repeats it back, to be sure he got it right and Stephanie said, "Yep, that's it.  Can I go back to sleep now?"  She lays back in her bed after she moves the mess from her backpack off to the side.

Jon, thankful to his daughter, says, "Go back to sleep baby girl.  I'll call you later.  I love you."

"Bye dad."  the line went dead.

Jon refills his coffee cup from the room service tray that he ordered.  He was an early riser today, more than any other day, because he wanted to catch Beth before she went off on her company exercises for the day.  Coffee and cigarette in hand, he dials her cell phone number.

"Hey there." she says as she answers the phone.  She is so thrilled that he called.  She needed to hear his voice.

"Hi babe.  How are you?" he asks, feeling like he hasn't talked to her in weeks.  He sits down on at the table that's out on the patio of his hotel room.

"I'm okay.  How are you?" she can hear the anxiety in his voice.

"It's been a nightmare.  I left my cell phone at home yesterday and had no idea how to get a hold of you.  So, I just called Steph and she gave me your number.  Did I wake you?  I wanted to call before you left on your exercises today." he confesses he's sometimes an airhead.

Beth is laying back in bed, waiting for her room service to show up.  She has already brushed her teeth, so now she is ready for food.  She feels like she hasn't eaten for days, and she's quite hungry.  She starts to tell Jon, "I'm done with the team building shit.  I'm going home today.  As soon as I can book my flight."

Jon never would have thought that she was injured, so the only reason he can think of that she's blowing off the company retreat is due to her recent promotion.  "What's the matter, is your head getting to big to participate?  Miss VP, are you too good for the common people?" he chuckles at her, totally unprepared for her response.

She knows how this is going to go, and she really wanted to avoid it, but they agreed to no secrets and no delayed honesty.  "Well, I'm here in my room, laying in bed because I have no choice.  I was in an accident the day we got here."  she holds her breath.

"Are you okay?  What happened?" he has visions in his mind that don't even come close to what she's about to tell him.

"Yeah, I'm fine.  Mild concussion, little bit of a brain bleed that has stopped, multiple bumps and bruises, a broken ankle and a broken leg.  My eyes are so black and blue, I look like a raccoon.  It's quite funny." she knows that he has her looking worse in his mind.

"Whoa, wait a minute.  Are you sure you're okay?  What can I do for you?" he's never felt so helpless.  He lights another cigarette and starts to pace.  "You can't fly home like that Beth, not on a commercial flight." he tells her.

"Hey, I've seen many people with broken bones and casts on airplanes, I'll get home just fine.  Plus, I have Tammy with me.  I think she'll go home with me."  Beth never really thought about the physical logistics of getting home.  She couldn't walk on crutches and carry her bags.  Damn it.  Maybe the airline will lend her a wheel chair.

"Babe, you can't be home alone like that.  What are the doctors telling you?  What happened"

"Tammy and I did a zip line and when I stepped off the platform, I must have twisted my ankle and down I went.  They tell me I rolled down a big hill, hitting stumps and rocks on my way."  She takes a breath and continues, "I wasn't allowed to fly yesterday, but I can today.  So, I'm going home.  I have pain meds and an antibiotic in case any of my scratches get infected. I'm good to go."  she assures Jon, but she knows him well enough to know he isn't buying any of it.

"I'm coming to get you." he tells her.  It's not debatable, in his mind.

"No you're not.  You have a show tonight and I'm going home." she tells the rockstar, letting him know that he wasn't the boss of her.

"Beth, you can't go home alone.  You need some one with you." he's getting upset, he hates being so far away from her, with a commitment in 12 hours.  Running his fingers through his hair, many times, he says, "Let me fly you here with me.  I have people that can stay with you, and then I'll take you home tomorrow, personally."  he is loving that idea.  And he knows she won't go for it.

"Jon, I can get myself home.  I'll be okay, really.  It's just a broken leg and ankle.  I've been through worse."  There's a knock on the door.  "Hang on a minute, my breakfast is here.  I can't hop to get it with a phone in my hand."  she sets her phone on the bed.  He can here her hop to get the door, cursing the whole way.  She tells the room service attendant to please set the tray on the bed.  She hands her what cash she has and the attendant leaves.  Beth climbs back onto her bed and picks up the phone.  "I'm back."

"Ok, with what I just heard, I'm coming to get you.  You can come to Atlanta with me and then I'll fly you home.  On my plane, you won't need to worry about anything."

She's buttering her toast, holding the phone to her ear with her shoulder and she tells him, "I don't like that idea.  I just want to go home Jon.  I can get there today, by myself."  she knows this conversation isn't over.  He doesn't like to be told no.  She's ready.

He's quiet for a few moments, running a few scenario's through his head.  "Why do you want to go home?  We can go somewhere nice, just the two of us." he tells her.  He's thinking he could use a couple of days vacation, as well.

"Home is where all my stuff is, everyone likes being home when they don't feel well."

"I can provide you with whatever you need, you know that."

"I can provide me with what I need, but the comfort of being home can't be purchased.  I want to go home." she tells him, again.  He sure is stubborn.

"Okay, you win, but let me get you home.  My plane is here in Atlanta, let me get it arranged to take you home, let me do that for you, please."  he wants to help in anyway that he can, and she isn't making it easy.  He can hear her eating her toast, "Will you let me do that for you?"

She mumbles, "Mmm hhmm" and takes a drink  of her juice.  "Fine, will you feel better if I do that?"

"Yes, that way I will know you made it okay and that you have a good flight.  It may take me a while, but I'll arrange it.  I'll call you back after while, okay?"  he's now in a hurry, he needs to put his plan in motion.  He's going to swoop in and rescue the love of his life.

"Ok, I'm going to eat and probably take a nap.  Tammy is supposed to come help me shower later.  I would kill for a shower." in the back of her mind, she was wishing he could do it.  She would love to see him, but he has a show, she's not even going to mention how much she misses him and how many times she's thought about him.

"Alright, I'll talk to you soon, until next time."  he hangs up.

Beth sits there on her bed running this through her mind.  Atlanta is not that far away from St. Barts.  So, it shouldn't be long before she is able to go home.  This way, on Jon's plane, she didn't have to mess around with security and she wouldn't have to stand in line forever with Custom's.  This might be the better plan.  Maybe he's right?

She finishes her fruit and toast and tries to find something good on TV.  The pain medication has kicked in and she's feeling sleepy, she just had such a hard time getting comfortable.  The cast on her leg was so heavy, she wasn't able to lay on her side, like she liked.  Six weeks........how am I going to do this?  She thought to herself.  Finding her favorite show, Law & Order, she laid there and watched it until she falls asleep.

In Atlanta, Jon is on the phone making the arrangements for the plane to be fueled and makes a flight plan into the Bahama's.  He is being told that he can't do this, make this trip into the Bahama's and get the plane back out in one day.  If it landed, it had to lay over due to all the other air traffic.  Damn, it.  What's he going to do now?  He came up with Plan B, and Plan B would not make Beth happy.

Calling her back, like he said he would, Tammy answered her phone on the first ring.

"Hi Jon, this is Tammy.  Beth is sleeping, do you need me to wake her up?"

"No, how long has she been sleeping?' he asks.

"About an hour, what's up?" Tammy wants to help, if she can.  After all, this IS Jon Bon Jovi on the phone.  "I came in to help her with a shower."

"How bad is she, Tammy?"  Jon asks, knowing that will piss Beth off when she finds out he asked her assistant how she is.  She's already told him.

Tammy not sure of how to answer that questions, says, "What do you mean how bad is she?  Because she's not good, at all.  She's pretty beat up." Tammy takes her bosses phone out onto the deck, so she can speak openly with Jon.

Jon is not liking what he's hearing.  He didn't know what he wanted to hear, because he is stuck.  He has a show to do in less than 12 hours and he feels like he needs to do something.  And he knows he has to act quick, because she'll wake up and book a flight home.  She could be long gone from the Bahama's before he is even done with the show tonight.

"We need to keep her there, how can we do that?  She's wanting to go home, and I don't want her home alone.  I need your help Tam." the rock star says to the ever so helpful assistant.  "I can be there about midnight, but we can't let her go home alone.  Help me here."

"That's easy" says the homely assistant, "I'll just tell her the next direct flight is in the morning."  She'll buy that.  Are you coming down here then?"

"I am, I'll head down right after the show.  I've got a chopper on stand by.  It shouldn't take too long to get there.  But please do not tell her I'm coming.  I don't think she wants to see me when she looks like she does."  Jon can't stress it enough that Beth is not to know he's coming down.  He actually spoke in a tone that scared Tammy, so that was good.

"Do you want me to tell her that you called?  Should she call you back?"  Tammy has no idea what she is to do next.  She's pacing on the patio that has very little space.  Playing the 'don't step on a crack' with herself.  The patio pavers are just big enough for her toes, pretty easy game to play.

Jon, with a cigarette in his mouth mumbles, "Yeah, have her call me back.  I'll be at this number for a while.  She knows I left my cell phone in New Jersey.  Take this number down, this is Melanie's number, she's my assistant."  He waits for Tammy to get inside and get something to write with.

"Go ahead, I"m ready." Tammy is waiting for the numbers, when she hears Beth stirring.  "She's waking up, do you want to talk to her?"

Beth over hears Tammy talking to Jon and yells, "Who are you tallking to?"

The assistant feeling like she just got caught, walked in next to Beth's bed and said, "It's Jon.  Do you want to talk to him?"

Beth shook her head no and laid her head back down on the pillows.  "What's he up to?"  She asks her assistant.  Beth can hardly stand the pain she's in.  She cannot get comfortable.  Must be time for pain meds?

"He's just checking up on you.  He's worried."  Tammy kind of lies to her boss.  Tammy knows that when Beth finds out all of this, she's going to be pissed.

Beth turns to look back at her assistant and whispers, "Can you get me some more pain meds, please?"  And she turns back over.  The cast is driving her crazy. She wants it off.

While still on the phone with Jon, Tammy walks into the bathroom and gets Beth two pain pills and one of her antibiotic pills and brings them back to Beth, with a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Thank you." Beth sits up long enough to take her medicine and lays back down. "What time is it?"

Looking at her watch, Tammy tells Beth, "Its almost noon. Do you want to talk to Jon now?"

Beth really isn't in the mood to talk, her pain is tolerable with meds and sleep. "Can you tell him hi for me and tell him I'll call him later to get my flight info from him." Tammy is on the verge of a heart attack, she's afraid Beth may find out that she's been talking to Jon.

Still talking to Jon and getting real nervous, Tammy asks Jon, "What do you want me to tell her?"

To make it easy and to divert any questions, Jon tells Tammy, "Tell her the next flight leaves in the morning and you have her booked on it. Tell her it's direct, and that I can't get in and out in one day. But don't tell her I'm coming."

Tammy is nodding her head as she walks back into where Beth is and starts to tell her with Jon still on the phone, "The first flight I can get you on leaves at 9:00. That's the only direct flight out of here. And Jon can't fly in and out in one day. He'd have to layover a day." Beth is listening and all she hears is that she's stuck in St. Bart's until tomorrow now.

Water Ch. 63 - The Fighter

Jon kissed his children goodbye and told them he would see them in a couple of days, that should have been it, or so he thought. He tells Dorothea goodbye and leaves the NY apartment.

Water Ch. 62 - Everybody's Broken

Beth was woken up by the nurses checking her vital signs and to give her another dose of pain killer. She's starting to feel a few more aches and pains and hope the medication she just had will help with those. She positions herself in the bed, so that its easier to get out of bed, she needs to use the bathroom.  Dragging herself to the edge of the bed, she looks at the time on her watch that's on her bedside table.  It's 4:30 in the morning, now she's irritated, she isn't tired any more and has nothing to do.  Getting out of bed wasn't as easy as she thought it would be.  Her sense of balance was off and the cast made her uneven, as she refers to it.  Limping her way to the bathroom she curses her boss for putting together this retreat, nothing good has come of it yet.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she is horrified.  Both eyes are black and blue, and her right eye ball had a small hemorrhage, leaving the white of her eye bloodshot and gross.  She has a bump over her right eye that's practically the size of a golf bad, and just as hard.  She can see that she has abrasions on her arms.  She starts to cry.  How can she be so messed up, so far from home.  Finishing what she needed to do in the bathroom, she limps her way back to her bed.  Upset by what she saw and how she feels she's thankful that the pain medication is kicking in.  She lays back in her bed and closes her eyes, thinking to herself, I'm going home, when I get out of here today.  Her eyelids are heavy and she sees no point in fighting it.  She dozes off.  Her dreams have to feel better than she does right now.

Her eyes don't open again until Tammy slightly shakes her, to wake her up.  "Beth, Beth."  Her assistant says to her.  Beth opens her eyes, feeling like she has been run over by a truck.

"What?" she says, with her mouth stuck together from sleeping with her mouth open.  "Please go get me a toothbrush and toothpaste."  Beth tries to sit up, and wasn't very successful at it.  Tammy tries to help her, but Beth isn't receptive to help.  "I can do it, please just get me a toothbrush and paste."  Beth doesn't mean to bark at her.

Tammy turns to leave and knowing Beth, she better ask if there is anything that Beth needs or wants.  Looking at her battered boss Tammy asks, "Is there anything else you you need or want?  I brought your phone, it's in your bag."

Beth, looking through her assistant, unable to focus says, "I would love some 7-up, can you get me some of that?  All I really want is to brush my teeth and wash my face.  And have the nurse come in please, I want out of here."

"I'll be back in a flash."  Tammy leaves, going to fetch what her boss asks for, wondering if they're going to let her leave today.

Beth looks over and sees her bag, knowing her phone is in there, she grabs it and gets her phone out.  She is hoping there was something from Jon.  A text, missed call or even an email.  Nothing.  No attempted communication what so ever.  Staring at the keys on her phone, running her fingers over them with out even thinking, she tells herself that she should call him.  After all, she said that she would.  It's 11:30, he should definitely be up and about.

Searching through her contacts, she finds the one that's RockStar and pushes the green call button.  It rings three times before she hears, "Hey!"

"Hi.  Are you busy?" she doesn't want to interrupt anything he may be doing.  Simply because he may be doing something pertaining to the divorce.

He tells her, "I'm at Dorothea's dropping the kids off, can I call you back in a few minutes when I get out of here?"

Surprised by his response, now twisting her dirty hair into a knot, she says, "Yes, of course, that's fine.  Take your time."

She can hear Dorothea in the background very childish like say, "Is that Beth?  Tell her that your wife says hello."

"Dorothea, knock it off.  Act your damn age."  Jon is pissed now and Beth can hear that.  She thinks it's kind of funny because it's directed at Dot.

With a big smile on her face and an attitude in her voice, Beth tells Jon, "Please tell her hello for me."  And then she laughs.  "I'm sorry, please call me when you get a minute.  I love you and miss you."  With those words out of her mouth, she wonders what he will say.

"I love and miss you too.  I'll call you in a few minutes, okay."  She can hear the love in his voice and he really does miss her.  She can hear it.

"Okay, until next time."  Beth pushes end on her phone.  But she keeps the smile on her face, even with all the pain she's in.

In walks the nurse, a healthy woman that truly loves her job.  Walking up to Beth's bedside she starts to fluff her pillows and tells her, "Beth we need to get you up and moving.  Specially if you want to leave today.  I need to know that you're mobile on your own."  She's an African American woman with short hair and beautiful green eyes.  She has a great bedside manor and Beth can tell she's one that does it for the love of the job.  She pulls Beth blankets back and looks at her injuries.  "How does the cast feel?" she asks as she drags Beth's legs over the edge of the bed.

"I can do that."  Beth barks.  "The cast is irritating, how should it feel?"  Beth stops herself, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap."

"Oh sweety, you haven't said anything I haven't heard before. "  The nurse assures her.  "Can you get to the bathroom on your own?"

Beth looking over at the door, thinking where the hell is Tammy, says "Yes I can.  I am waiting for my assistant to bring me my toothbrush and toothpaste."

The nurse understanding the need for clean teeth can relate, but she says to Beth, with firmness, "Let's get you in there and start getting you cleaned up.  I need to check all of your wounds, before we can release you.  We can wash you up while we wait for your stuff."  She is talking in a tone that tells Beth she really doesn't have a choice.  Now there are two strong willed women in charge of Beth and Beth is going to lose.

Beth, with all her might, tells the nurse, "I'm expecting a phone call and I'm waiting for my assistant to bring me my things." She thought she sounded serious.

"Well, you can wait for your phone call and your assistant" she is now lifting Beth off the edge of the bed, with one hand under her arm.  Beth winces. "in the bathroom.  Let's go."  Beth takes her lead and works herself into the bathroom.  She hurts pretty bad now.   The nurse lowers her to the sit on the toilet, "Are you okay?"  she asks Beth.

"The pain is pretty bad, can I get some more pain killers please?"  Beth doesn't normally take medication, other than the occasional headache pill.  But she hurts so bad she's ready to beg.  The nurse is filling up the sink with warm water to give Beth a sponge bath.
