Water Ch. 233 - That One Fateful Night Changed Our Lives

Beth sets the alarm for 4:am and lays down to tries to get some rest.  She knows that she can sleep on the plane, but she is mentally and emotionally exhausted.

She had missed a call from Dalton while she was down at Jon's and she should have called him back, but she just wasn't up to it.  She didn't want to tell him where she was and what she was doing.  Telling Dalton that Jon lived in the same building may come off as suspicious to Dalton and that couldn't be farther from the truth, but Dalton is familiar with the fighting of the Jon Bon Jovi demon.  Beth just wasn't up to it.  She'll talk to him in Greece.  After mentally fighting with herself, she dozes off to sleep and can finally put her mind to rest.

Jon's night didn't go so well.  He can't believe that she's so close, yet she's so far away.  He can't believe that she's gone, and she's gone forever - but it needed to be done.  She's going to Greece to meet another man, and it should be him.  They should be together, he can see that she's changed, he can see that she's still the one - why is she upstairs without him?  He paces his empty apartment and  can't get her out of his mind.  What they said, the way that she smelled, the way that she felt in his arms.......she can't go to Greece.

Jon walks into his bedroom and grabs the keys that are on the dresser.  He can't take this another minute.  He can't stand her being upstairs and him downstairs.  Her being here has to mean something, it has to count for something.  Out the door he goes, pressing the up button on the elevator.  Once he's off the elevator and on her floor, he stands there for a minute.  If he walks in, what will he find?  What will he see?

It was now or never.  With his key, that he's had for a long time, he lets himself into her apartment.  It's dark, with the exception of the moon coming in the wall windows, illuminating her apartment just enough for him to navigate to the master bedroom.  Standing in the doorway of her bedroom, he sees her laying there in her normal pajamas.  A t-shirt and her underwear.  The spring in New York was a great one this year, her windows are open and there is a beautiful breeze blowing through.  The sheet was just covering on leg.  As he was walking closer, he sees that there is a framed picture laying on the bed next to her.  Reaching down and picking it up, he sees it's a picture of them that was taken at Matt's birthday party.  It was the moment that she walked outside as he started to sing Happy Birthday to Matt.  When Romeo seen her, he ran to her.  The pic is Jon kissing Beth and Romeo is between them.  Jon smiles, having never seen the picture.  He sets it down on the nightstand and looks at her.  She looks so peaceful and he's wondering how she can be sleeping.  After the discussion that they had, how can she really be sleeping??  That baffles him.

He sits on the bed next to her, reaching over and rubbing her leg.  That startles her, and she jumps awake.  Seeing that it was Jon, she hit him and yells "God damn it Jon.  What are you doing here?"  She sits up and leans against the headboard, noticing the time.  She's only been asleep an hour.  "What are you doing up here?"  She's pissed.

"You can't go to Greece." he tells her.

"What?" she's still half asleep.  She reaches down and grabs the blankets to cover herself up.

"You can't go to Greece.  You can't be with Dalton.  You belong with me." he tells her in a way that kind of scares her.  She's never heard him be so demanding and so certain.

"Jon, that's not for you to decide.  And where do you get off coming up here in the middle of the night?" she's a little irritated with him now.  He told her goodbye and here he is telling her that she belongs with him.

"After you left, I couldn't stop thinking about you, about us.  I see changes in you that intrigue me and I know we belong together.  You have always completed me, and now is no different."

"Jon, I'm leaving for Greece in the morning.  An hour ago you didn't have room for me, you couldn't let me back in, remember?"

"I know, I know - pay no attention to that.  When you left, it kind of hit me, you're here should count for something.  A layover in NYC, how common is that?  It's not, not on a real airline anyway.  We ran into each other in the lobby, what are the chances of that?"

"Jon, it's all a coincidence.  Stop reading more into it." she tells him,  feeling her anxiety growing.  "Can you please go, I need to get some sleep."

He moves in closer to her, puts his hands on her shoulders and their lips meet.  Lip to lip he tells her, "I'm not letting you go."

She feels herself get weak and the urge to wrap her arms around him was stronger than she was.  Around his neck, her arms go and the passion flares.

"We can't do this." she pulls away.  "Please go."

"I told you that I'm not letting you go." he kisses her again, pulling her onto his lap.  She's in her tshirt and panties and she feels like she is doing something wrong.

"Please stop." she tries to get away.  "Jon, I have a boyfriend."

"That you don't like."

"Yes, I do." she's appalled that he would say that.

"Okay, that you don't love." she can feel his hand go up her leg, over her belly and he cradles a breast in his hand.  He can't take his hands off of her.  "I've thought about this day for almost a year."  Kissing her neck, "I have missed you so much."

She can't fight it anymore.  She has not had sex with anyone in months and he was her favorite lover, how could she resist him?  She loved being naked with him, she loved the way that he made love to her, she loved the way he made her feel and every cell in her body missed him.  But she couldn't stop thinking about Dalton.

Finally able to block Dalton from her thoughts, she was able to let go and enjoy one last night with Jon.  She knows that this was it, it had to be it - where did the respect go?  How does he think that he can tell her what to do?

The love they made that night was probably the best and the most meaningful.  She never felt so connected with him as she did and he never gave himself to her before, like he did tonight.  She feels the love coming back, by the bucketful but she can still hear the words he said downstairs.

They are laying there, both sexually satisfied.  Jon lays his head on Beth's belly and she runs her fingers through his hair.  She looks him up and down and loves the way he looks.  He's so fit, so tone and so sexy.  Jon looks up at her and says, "I love you, Beth Ann."

She can only smile at this point.  Confirming her love for him out loud would make tonight mean something, but something tells her that tonight won't mean the same to each of them.
