Water Ch. 240 - My Temptation Turns To Fate

Dropping his suitcase when he notices it was Jon that answered the door, Dalton asks "Is Beth available?"

Standing there holding the blanket at his waist, Jon kicks the door open the rest of the way and steps back.

Beth was laying on the bed, with the sheet pulled up to cover her breasts, but she laid in such a way that her leg, hip and thigh were exposed - she paid no attention to who was at the door.  She thought that it was room service until she hears, "Beth?"  Dalton sees her laying there and draws the conclusion that she's naked.

Beth quickly sits up, holding the sheet to her breasts, "Dalton!"  Jon is behind Dalton and he closes the door, after grabbing Dalton's suitcase.  Knowing what was going to go down, he went into the bathroom and slid on the jeans that he had on last night.  On his way back to the bedroom, he grabs a robe from the back of the bathroom door and takes it to Beth.

"I can't believe this!" Dalton says to her.

"Dalton, you're early." was all she could think to say.  She was so embarrassed and she feels terrible that she was caught.

"How long has this been going on?" Dalton barks at her.  "Has this been going on all along?"

Jon being cordial and the one that can think fast in stressful situation, says, "Dalton, please have a seat."  Dalton turns to look at Jon and while he's looking at Jon, Beth slides the robe on and gets out of the bed.

"Dalton, sit down.  We can talk about this."  Beth says, knowing that Dalton would WANT to talk about it.  Seeing it wasn't going to be enough for him.

"How long?" Dalton asks, scanning the room.  The room screams wild sex and that makes Dalton sick to his stomach.  "You couldn't make love with me, how long has this been going on?" He gets louder with each word.  He sits down in a chair and puts his head in his hands.

Beth looks at Jon, and for the first time since he has known her, Jon can see the fear and guilt on her face.  Not liking what he sees, he knows he needs to step in and help her.  "Dalton, none of this was planned."

Laughing, Dalton says, "So it's  coincidence that you are both here in Greece at the same time?  In the same room?"

Jon, feeling like his intelligence was being questioned, he replies, "I got here yesterday morning and had a show last night.  She had no idea I was coming here."

"How did you end up in bed together?" he snaps at Jon, but he's looking at Beth.

"I seen an advertisement for the show yesterday when I walked through town and decided to go see the show.  Jon had no idea I was coming." Beth sits down on a chair next to Dalton and takes his hand.  "We didn't mean for this to happen.  I'm so sorry."

Pulling his hand away, looking at her he tells her, "I find it hard to believe that the two of you are here by coincidence.  Thousands of miles away from home, you just happen to run into one another?"  Looking at Beth with a glare, "When back home, you planned your life according to where he was."

"This isn't what you think, Dalton." Beth tries to convince him, and she sees that it's not working.

"We had to stay out of L.A. if he was in town, we couldn't go to Napa because he was there - you lived life according to his schedule, do you mean to tell me that you didn't check and see if he was going to be here before you booked the trip?" he's exhausted.  He's pissed and even more hurt that he thought he ever would be.

He always knew that he may lose her to Jon, but lately he thought that they had turned a corner and Greece was going to be the time that she gave herself to him, completely.  "What if I hadn't shown up early?  Would you ever have told me about this, or would Jon be your Melissa; the secret that you keep from me."

That pains Beth a little bit and she gets on the defensive.  "I planned on telling you about it when you did get here.  Jon and I discussed it this morning."

Dalton gets to his feet, "Did you and Jon have a good laugh over this?"

"Dalton, I never meant to hurt you.  You have to believe me." she pleads with him.

Jon sat quiet for too long, but he knows that this is for them to get through.  Watching her struggle with what she should do and what she wants to do, Jon decides that she needs help, "Dalton, look man, we didn't plan this.  We bumped into each other last night and we got caught up in the past.  She didn't set out to hurt you."

"Was it easier getting caught up naked?" he snaps as he walks towards the door.  "I'll bet you two have been doing this for weeks, if not months."  He picks up his suitcase and looks back at Beth.  "And to think I wanted to marry you."

"Dalton.........." she says, until he holds up his hand as if to stop her from talking.

"How long has it been going on?  Just be honest." he says, looking back at the both of them.  Jon can see that he's hurting and feels that it's best for Beth to answer this one.  He wants to tell him everything, because he deserves at least that - but he waits for Beth.  Beth gets up from her chair and walks to the door.

"I seen him when I was laid over in New York and then here." and she holds her breathe.

Now he can't look at her, the pieces are falling into place in his head, "More coincidence, I'm sure." And he leaves the room.  Beth stands at the doorway and just stares at the door.  She cannot believe what just happened.

Jon walks up behind her and puts his arms around her waist.  She isn't feeling very cuddly, so she pulls away.  "Not now, I'm sorry."  She walks back to the bed and sits on the edge, when there is another knock at the door.

Breakfast came and neither of them ate.  They had coffee and sat on the beach, most of that time spent in silence.  "I have to leave soon, babe." Jon reminds her. Reaching over and rubbing her arm.

She rolls her head and looks at him, "I know.  I'm so sorry about this morning."

"Hey, we had it coming." he admits that he did wrong, right along side of her.

"I know how he feels and I think that's what bothers me the most." she just shakes her head.

"I just hate to leave you here alone now."  he says, as he turns on the side of his chair, facing her.

She smiles at him and says, "Ill be okay."

"I know you'll be okay.  I just don't want to leave you alone.  Do you think he'll come back here?" Jon asks her, a little concerned not knowing Dalton's temperament.

"No.  I'll never see him again.  I'm sure he took a cab back to the airport and will be on the first flight out of here, or he'll rent a car to leave."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah, right now he wants to be as far away from this situation as he can get.  I embarrassed him, and to him, that's the worst.  I'm sure he's worried about the media too."

Jon moves over onto her lawn chair with her, hovering over her.  He wanted to be close to her, as his time was running out.  Beth places her hands on his sides and smiles.

"Why are you smiling?" he asks her, with a smile.

She turns her head and simply says, "There's a camera over there."

"I don't give a fuck."  Using the strength in his arms, he slowly lowers himself down to her and kisses her.  "Maybe they'll get my good side."

Beth puts her arms around his neck and pulls herself up to meet him.  The two of them give the photographer a scene to photograph.  When they were finished making out on the beach, they walk into the ocean hand in hand and swim for a while.  Well, they played for a while and did a little more making out.

The paparazzi loved it and they really didn't care.  Their only concerns at this point were the kids, and before the pictures hit the wire, Jon will call home and let them know what they need to know. Nothing more and nothing less.  Stephanie Rose will be ecstatic over it and Jesse James will shrug his shoulders and say whatever dad, as long as you're happy.  The kids will love Beth, as if nothing had happened - even though the two of them haven't set the ground rules.  Jon is apprehensive, to a degree, but love is love and he really loves her.

  1. I am starting to question Beth's integrity. One minute she doesn't want Jon in her life because he cheated on her, after she ran away from him. Again. Then she meets Dalton and cheats on him with Jon and when they get caught she is full of guilt but by the end of the day she is right back to being happy. Talk about a complicated person.
Jon, I know they say love is blind but seriously. How blind can you be?! Mark my words she will run again.
