Water Ch. 164 - If All That We Got Is Each Other

"Today is a sad day in the music world.  We just learned that rocker Jon Bon Jovi and his girlfriend Beth Ann Adams, tragically lost their twin daughters, Rowan and Spencer yesterday; months before their expected due date. 

 

Testing is being done to determine their cause of death, Jon and Beth declined autopsies.  The twins are to be laid to rest in the Bongiovi family plot in New Jersey.  Services are pending.  Sources tell us that Jon and Beth would like contributions be made to the March of Dimes, in lieu of flowers.  We are told that this photo is of Spencer Rose Bongiovi."

 

Leaving the local funeral home that prepared Spencer and Rowan for travel, Beth looked to Jon and said, "Let's get them home.  They have family to meet."  Jon is carrying Rowan and Beth has Spencer.  They get into the backseat of the car and buckle themselves in for the ride to the executive airport.  The ride is long, due to traffic but they really don't care.  That gives them more time to be with their daughters and each other, alone.  Jon's mom will be at the airport, waiting for them.  Jon and Beth both feel a peace about themselves and they can now look at one another and not cry.  They both know that it won't last forever, but they are going to enjoy every second that they have.

 

"Hey, can I see the pictures?"  Jon asks Beth.  Beth asked the funeral home to take pictures of the girls once they were prepared for travel.  Each baby was photographed in such a peaceful and rested pose, that when Beth seen them she thought that they looked like they were living. She handed Jon the handful of pictures and he looked through them, one by one.  Beth watched him out of the corner of her eye, and he would pause on pictures of Rowan.  She smiled because that warmed her heart.  He could look at the pictures and see  his beautiful daughters and smile for having seen them. 

 

"She's your favorite, isn't she?"  Beth asks him, knowing it's true and thinking that it's so special.  "Is it because she has your mole?"

 

"No babe, she looks just like you.  I look at her and I see you, all you.  The mole just adds character to her little and delicate features.  Spencer is breathtaking too, but she looks like me."  And he leans over and kisses her.  "We make beautiful babies."  And his attention goes back to the photographs.  Beth sits in the back, and stares at her daughter, Spencer Rose Bongiovi.  She looks at her, follows the contour of her face, looks intently at her little nose and plays with her fingers.  She starts to hum them a lullaby and that gets Jon's attention.  He starts to hum along with her, putting the pictures in his bag.  "Those pictures are amazing.  I'm so glad you had them do that.  I wouldn't have minded the memories of seeing them in the morgue, but these pictures are exactly like I pictured them.  They are perfect.  Absolutely perfect.  Thank you."

 

Beth starts to cry, and she has to admit to him, "Jon, I did that for myself.  It was purely selfish.  I seen that they offered the service and had to have pictures.  Pictures of two beautiful baby girls that were taken way too soon.  I needed more than the morgue memory and the ultrasound pictures."

 

"I like it when you're selfish.  I love you."

 

Jon and Beth are on the Bon Jovi plane, with their baby girls and Jon's mom.  Mrs. Bongiovi is cradling Rowan Carol and Beth is holding Spencer Rose.  It was decided before they even boarded the plane that the girls would not ride like cargo and they wouldn't be in any box.  It was agreed that they would be held, the entire flight home.  And again, they could have flown around the world and that wouldn't have been enough time to spend with the babies. 

 

Yet, they now that time is of the essence as the funeral home prepared the girls for a 5 day period. They needed to get home, finish the preparations and lay their babies to rest.   

 

Getting ready to take off, and Jon turned on the TV - looking for football scores.  But the news was on, and as luck would have it, the top story was about them.  They all see the picture of Spencer and all were speechless.  Those photographs were taken just a few hours ago and they have already been leaked?  The funeral home swore to confidentiality and even signed a contract stating that fact.  Jon started to fume, but quickly stopped.  NOTHING was going to interrupt his next few days and  nothing was going to piss him off.  He will bask in the next couple of days, and when all is said and done - heads will roll.  Beth, on the other hand was pissed off.  She looked to Jon and he gave her the I promise, I'll take care of it look and she was then calmed.

 

Take off and they are in the air.  In just a few hours, the Bongiovi babies will be home, where they belong and where they will remain.  Close to family and safe in the arms of God.
