Water Ch. 21 - Why Aren't You Dead? 2011

(2011)

Dinner with the parents is always nice.  Even when you arrive uninvited, like Jon did.  He and Romeo went inside and said, "Hello!"  and Jon didn't get an answer.  "Grandma!!", Romeo yells. No one answers, but the house is quite big, they just might be out of ear shot.  They start to look for Jon's mom and dad.  They find his mom in the great room, that is at the far end of the house.  She is on the telephone and holds up one finger to indicate that she will be done in a minute.

"Okay, well Jonny and Romy are here now, I guess I'll have to get off the phone.  Okay, bye bye."  Says Mrs. Bongiovi, as she hangs up the phone.  Romeo runs over and gives his grandma a hug and kiss and runs off into the kitchen to get a snack , like always.

Jon sits on the couch next to his mom.  "Hi, Ma." He leans over and gives her a kiss.

"Hello dear, what are you boys up to?" she asks her eldest son.

"Romy wanted to come spend some time with me so I thought we'd come see what you had planned for dinner?"  he tells his mother with not much good mood in his voice.

"I just got off the phone with Dorothea, dear."

"I figured that's who it was.  What did she want?" her son asks, with a slight hint of disgust in his voice.

"How come you didn't tell me Beth was back in town?  I would have liked to see her.  I still have that picture that I had painted for her. She never left a new address for me when she left town."

"Ma, my visit with her was bittersweet.  She was here and now she's gone.  I couldn't hang on to her AGAIN!" he sadly explains the whole situation to his mother.  Leaving nothing out.  He even told her about Dot and Beth meeting at the Hampton house.  Mrs. B could not believe it went as well as it did.  But she gave the credit for that to Beth.  It could have gone much worse.

"Well" as she places her hand on her sons leg, "tell me what went on with Beth dear.  Maybe I can help?"  Mrs B. really did like Beth and she hopes her and Jon could have worked things out.  She knows that they are soul mates and she wants her son to be happy.  Beth makes him happy.

"I ran in to her after rehearsing at the Basie the other day.  Found out she was staying in Red Bank, so I tracked her down.  Went to her and tried.  We had some time together and it was wonderful.  I hate that it had to end",  he paused, looking for an expression on his mothers face - and all he got was the What are you doing here?  Shouldn't you be out trying to find her and work things out? look?

"Mom, I don't even know where she is.  I have tried to find her, but she manages to stay off the grid somehow. I don't know what else to do. I can't believe I let her get away, again! And I'm so pissed at Dot for being the reason Beth and I are no longer together. The lies and the bullshit two years ago. He's off the couch and pacing now, getting more anxious as the seconds drag by. He is feeling it really bad now. He needs to find Beth.
"Jon, have you asked Amanda where Beth is? Maybe she can tell you where to find her?" Mrs. B has stayed out of it for two years, she needs to let her boys do what they think they need to do - but she sees Jon is really hurting and torn. She's going to try to help.
"I could give her a call, maybe tomorrow? I need to spend some time with Romeo, he's been missing me.". The sad and proud father walks away and his mom follows him into the kitchen. in the kitchen, Romeo is having a bowl of ice cream with his grandpa and uncle Matt. Jon sees his dad and says, "Hi Pops." Looks at Matt and says "What's up little brother?". Matt nods and says, "Hey." They all focus their attention back on Romeo as he's taking his spoon and clanking it on the side of the bowl, trying to get every drop of ice cream that he can. Grandma asks Romeo if he wants more and Jon says "No ma, that's plenty. we came over here for dinner, and desert later. Now he won't eat." Jon runs the top of his sons head and says, "Right kiddo?" Romeo laughs and said, "I'll eat dinner, I'm still hungry dad."
Mrs B. said "Why don't we all go to the hotel and eat? Dinner on dad." Meaning Romeo's dad.
It was decided that that is what they would do. Mr. and Mrs. BonGiovi gathered what they needed and they all met at the Molly Pritcher.
Pulling up to the hotel was a little tough for Jon. He had spent some amazing and not so amazing time there with Beth. He wanted to be back there, with Beth, in his arms. He wanted to be with her so bad. How is he going to go on without her? They were once so deeply in love with each other and in one day, it was over. Putting the car in park and getting out of the car, he said out load, "God damn you Dorothea! Damn you."
Walking up he met up with his parents, but Matt and Romeo haven't pulled in yet. The Bongiovi trio stood by the entryway, trying not to be seen by the many of tourists that are in the area during the fall. They could hear people saying isn't that Jon Bon Jovi? Hey, isn't that Bon Jovi? They were used to all of that. They are surprised no one came up to them, actually. With the news paper having Beth in the headlines with Jon, it was almost a given. But they were left alone.
Matt and Romeo finally showed up at the hotel and the family went in and had dinner.
By the time they had eaten, Romeo was getting restless so Jon took that as his out. He loved being with his family and they could sit and talk all night, but Jon just wasn't feeling it. He wanted to go home. He wanted to go hang out with his son and just have some Jon and Romeo time.
Jon excused himself and his son. He hugs his dad and brother goodbye and then hugged and kisses his mom. In his ear she said quietly, "We'll get her back honey. Be patient." She kisses his cheek and Jon leaves. Paying the check on the way out.

  1. Wonder what Mrs. B is going to do to help Jon find Beth?

  2. I know Jon loves her but he needs to give her space right now. also he needs to make a move concerning he & Dot's relationship. Avoiding it isn't going to help anything & maybe if Beth thinks he is moving on with this life without his wife she would be more inclned to be with him.
