Water Ch. 9 - Damned

(Circa 2011)There is only one thing worse than being woke up by housekeeping, it's being woke up by a ringing telephone.
Jon and Beth stirred at the sound of a phone ringing. Beth knowing it wasn't hers since she didn't even know where hers was, so it had to be Jon's. He sits up and looks at the clock, 11:30. Holy shit, it's 11:30....he looks over at Beth, who's looking at him.
"Can you believe we slept this late?" Damn where's my phone?" He climbs out of bed and walks over to the dresser, with Beth watching his bare ass, where he set his phone down last night. He has missed the call, but just wanted to see who it was, in case it was important. It was his wife, Dorothea. He suddenly felt his stomach flop.

"Was it important?" Beth asks, hoping him being with her and sleeping in so late didn't cause him to miss anything. He shakes his head no and sets the phone down, after switching the ringer off. Goes into the bathroom and takes a leak.
Beth sits up and looks outside, through the openings in the blinds. It's sunny, so it's going to be a beautiful day on the shore. She can't wait to get out there.
Getting up to grab her robe and walk out on the patio, Jon says "Hey hey, where do you think you're going!?!" He wants her back in bed. He wants her, again.
"I'm going to go out on the patio, look at that sunshine! It has to be beautiful out there." She opens the blind and then the door and them she steps outside. It's gorgeous! Jon grabs a pair of work out pants from his bag, puts them on and calls room service. He knows what she likes, he remembers. He places the order, grabs her cigarettes and goes out into the patio with her.
Walking up to her, he smiles and says, "Good morning, how did you sleep?" Kisses her on the forehead. She puts her hands on his bare chest and just rests her head on his lips. She mumbles, "I slept like a rock, what about you?"
He backs up and takes a cigarette from the pack and offers it to Beth. She shakes her head no and says, "No thanks, I don't smoke." She lets out a chuckle.
Jon lights the cigarette and sits down on one of the chairs. Looking at Beth like he was a kid in a candy store and he had a life long pass. He was happy, he was in love and he wasn't letting her go anywhere. If he could help it. "I slept better than I have in years. I can't remember the last time I slept this late." He confesses to his soul mate.

"What are your plans for the day?" She asks, standing there soaking up the warm shore sunshine.
"The only thing I have to do is go out to the house in the Hampton's. I guess Dorothea is having the floors redone and the man with the samples is supposed to be there at 3." That's the first time her name has been mentioned, now she's in the conversation and back in Beth's life.
"You have to go all the way out to the Hampton's to look at floor samples?  She can't decide on her own?  Do you still go out there?"  Beth was a little pissed off by this.  Two year ago he would have told her to handle it herself and wouldn't even bother, so why now?  She's truly puzzled by this.

"The house is going on the mark soon and I want it updated.  So, I guess it's better to say that I need to make the decision.  It's my house and I want it sold."  he tells her, trying to answer the question her hears in her voice.

"Why are you selling THAT house?" she questions, thinking if he was just looking to unload property, why wouldn't he sell the Red Bank house or the SoHo loft? "I guess it's none of my business, I'm just surprised by your decision, knowing what the market is like."

"Well, I have so many things to fill you in on, I would love for you to come with me today?  Wanna spend the afternoon in the Hampton's with me?" he asked, and he was serious.  He knows he's left her speechless.

"Are you kidding?  I can see that as going over so well - not.  Have you lost your mind?"  she laughs and is actually scared what his response is going to be.

'Knock, knock - Room service', they hear someone say.  Jon gets up and walk into the room to answer the door.  Next thing Beth sees is the room service attendant wheeling a tray full of food out onto the patio.  She looks at Jon and smiles.

"You remembered everything I like.  When did you order, I didn't even hear you?" Walking over the tray, checking out all of the fresh fruit and assortment of pastry.  He had even remembered her dairy free creamer. "Coffee, oh my god - I need coffee."  Jon signs for room service, making sure he tips the kid well and sees him out the door.  As he's closing the door behind room service, he sees his phone is lit up.  He can read it from where he's at.  It says 'Dot.'

Picking up the phone, knowing it wasn't going to go well, he thought it best to do it now - as opposed to in the Hampton's where the kids will be.  He answered, "Hello."  while walking outside onto the deck.  He wants Beth to hear, so she knows he's serious and he has no secrets.

"I stayed in Red Bank last night." he says into the phone.  One can guess that the wife of the sexiest rock star on the planet wants to know where her husband is or has been. "I didn't say I was at the house."  Beth's heart started to race.  She poured a cup of coffee and handed it to Jon.  He says, "Thank you" to her and his next words are, "I'm at the Oyster Point Hotel.  I never said I stayed at the house Dot.  I told you I stayed in Red Bank. You assume that I meant the house.  I didn't stay at the house, I spent the night at the Oyster Point with Beth."

Beth really believes she just had one form of a heart attack.  She cannot believe that he just told Dorothea what he did and told her over the phone.  OMG, what is going to happen now, she wonders.

"Dot, I really don't want to fight about it.  I will tell you this, she's been in town a couple of days and none of this was planned." he begins to pace.  "For gods sake, no the kids don't know."  Beth can tell he's getting pissed.

"How would the kids know Dot?  They have been with you and my parents the last couple of days."  he is fuming now. "Yes, we will be there before the flooring guy gets there.  That's right, I said we.  Where are the boys?"

This was Beth's cue to get out of earshot, she doesn't want to be involved in this.  She doesn't want to hear him break her heart and ruin her life.  She is starting to feel very bad for her actions over the last couple of days.  She grabs her coffee and fruit plate and goes back into the room, sliding the slider closed behind her.   She is amazed how fast one human can go through the entire sea of emotions and still stand upright.  She has gone from exhilaration to sadness in a matter of seconds.  She is in a spot right now that she fought through years ago when she fell in love with this man.  Beth was identifying with Dorothea on a level that she didn't want to deal with again.  Years ago Beth had to deal with being the 'mistress' and taking all the flack that came with that.  Then she didn't care, she was younger and not as wise as now, but her heart and her soul loved him just as much right now as it did back then.  She honestly could not help herself.  She didn't want to help herself.  She loved loving him, even though it was probably going to break her heart again.

Finished with the phone call, Jon goes inside and asks Beth if she wanted to go to the Hampton's with him. Baffled that he actually asked that she laughs and asks if he really thought that was a good idea.
"It's a fabulous idea. The boys will love to see you, after all this time." Jon says quite excited. "Don't worry about Dorothea, really don't."

"How can I not worry about Dorothea, Jon? She's your wife and the mother of your children, of course I worry about her." Beth calmly says to him, hoping she's made the point that Dot is an obstacle for her all over again.
"We'll, I need to get ready to head out there - lets go shower." Grabbing her hand and tugging her off the edge of the bed. She happily follows him into the bathroom. He reaches in and starts the water then turns to Beth to help her remove her robe. He grabs the tie of her robe and unknots it. Her robe falls open and he stands there and just stares at her. Immediately aroused by the sight of her, he leans in and starts to kiss her. She gently pushes him back and says, "I haven't even brushed my teeth yet." He grabs her face and continues to try and kiss her. "Please babe, let me brush my teeth." She turns and grabs her tooth brush and paste, starts brushing her teeth. He cracks her on the ass and calls her a tease. He gets in the shower and Beth brushes her teeth. When she's finished with her teeth, she climbs into the shower with Jon.
The shower is so modern, there isn't a shower curtain or door. It's just a glass wall that shields the front half of the shower. It quickly gets fog covered by the steam, because they both love a hot shower. Beth grabs her girly body wash and quickly lathers up her hands. Once she has a nice lather, she leans into Jon and says, "Let me help you with that." Grabbing his member and washing it in an arousing way. Up and down, making sure to stroke it over the head. She knew what pace she needed to be at and she stayed at that pace. She was driving him crazy. He grabs her and turns her around, facing her away from him. With slight pressure on her back, Beth knows what he wants her to to do. He wants her to bend over. He rinses the soap off of him self, moves into Beth and grabs her from behind. Squeezing and rubbing her breasts, Beth lifts her left leg and puts it on the tubs edge. Jon finds her sweet spot and is rubbing it with vigor while he penetrates her from behind. She lets out a sound that he's very familiar with. He's back where he belongs. Deep inside the woman that he loves. They finish their shower sex and their shower, get out and get dressed.
Beth throws on a little bit of make up and jewelry to finish off her outfit. A little sundress with sling back wedge sandals. Grabs her purse and finds her phone. Looking at her phone, she was relieved she didn't miss anything important. Some work emails and phone calls - nothing pressing as she is technically out of the office until Monday.
Jon looks gorgeous as ever. In simple blue jeans, a Tshirt, his black shoes and his ball cap.
Looking at Beth spritzing herself with perfume, he asks "Are you about ready? Chris is picking us up in 20 minutes."
"Whoa, wait a minute, Chris is picking us up here?" She questions Jon.
"No over at the house, we'll take my car and leave it at the house. Are ya ready woman?" He throws all of his stuff in his bag and is ready to go. Beth grabs her bag and away they go. They walk hand in hand through the hotel lobby, without a care in the world. Paying no attention to the patrons and guests they leave without so much as a glance back.
Jon's car was black and it was quite warn on the inside, the sun heating it up nicely. They get in and he opens the moon roof and the back seat windows. He starts the car and away they go. The 5 mile car ride on a busy Friday can talk forever. Cruising through traffic they make it just in time to see Chris land on the Heli-pad.
They park in the first driveway and Jon asks Beth if she needs anything before they leave? It's only 20 minutes by chopper out to the Hampton's, but he was thinking maybe she needed a drink or to use the bathroom before they left.
"No, I'm good honey, thanks though." She assures him she's all set.
"Ok, I have to run in the house, do you wanna come? I just have to get some paperwork for Dorothea." He asks. Letting her know it was okay to go inside, everything was an open book for her.
"No, you go ahead. I'll go say hi to Chris." Beth walks over to where Chris was standing, waiting for Mr. Bon Jovi. Beth takes her sunglasses off and says, "Hey stranger!" Smiling at Chris.
"Holy shit, Beth....how the hell are ya?" He asks, very shocked to see her on the property.
"I'm great, how have you been?" with all honesty possible. Chris and Beth were pretty good friends, before that last time he flew her into the city. The day Jon told her it was over.
"I'm living the dream! Surprised to see ya, what have you been up to?" he asks, still not making sense of what's going on.
"Long story, we'll catch up later." Beth kinda giggles, giving Chris the sign that she doesn't really want to talk about it.
"Are you and the boss staying out at the house or are you coming back tonight? Do you know?" He's only asked her because he would need to file a flight plan within 2 hours of planning to fly, trying to get ahead of the game..
"I'm coming back, I'm not staying out there with Dot, are you crazy?"
"Oh sorry, I didn't know Dot was out there." He feels bad for Beth right now.  He knows a little of the history that happened just 2 years ago.  "I'm sure Jon will let me know in time.  Climb aboard and get buckled."  Just then Jon appeared and ran down to the helipad, with a manila envelope under his arm.  He hops in, kisses Beth and says, "Let's go Chris, I have floor samples to pick out and then we're coming right back."  Jon hears himself talking and thinks, does that sound as stupid as I think it does?'  He buckles and then both he and Beth put their  headsets on.  Beth remembers what to do in a helicopter.  She's been on this one many times.
"Flying to the Hampton's to pick out floor sample. This has to be a first"  Beth jokes.  She really can't believe she's doing just what she said.
The half hour flight to the Hampton's took a little longer than normal due to wind conditions.  Chris had to take them up and around the Hampton's as opposed to flying straight there.  Tailwind, crosswind - something like that.  Anyway, they landed at the small helipad just a few blocks from Jon's Hampton's house.  He and Beth decide to walk to the house instead of waiting for Jake to come and get the.  It was a beautiful day, a wonderful day for a walk.  Both have sunglasses on and they walk down Jon's street as if he owned it.  Hand in hand.  There was nothing to hide, nothing to be ashamed of.  He was walking down the street with the women he loves, the women he's going to be with.  Regardless of what any of these people thought.
As they get closer to the house, they can see Romeo and Nicholas, the neighbor boy, coming back from the beach - Melissa, the nanny lagging behind.  The beach was right across the street from the Bongiovi house.  The view is beathtaking.  Romeo doesn't go home, he goes next door to Nick's before he sees his dad.  Jon whistles for him, but Romeo doesn't even hear him.  Romeo has ice cream on the brain.

Walking in the house, Beth can feel her stomach creeping up to her throat.  Dear God, please make this quick and pain less, she thinks to herself.
"Dorothea!" hollars Jon from the kitchen. "Dorothea!"  she doesn't respond.  He walks into the great room, Beth follows a few feet behind, and they see Jake.  "Hi son, where's your mom?"
"Hi dad.  Last I seen her, she was in the pool."  He can tell there is someone with his dad, so he gets up to see who it it.  "OMG, Beth is that you?"  He goes over to give her a big hug.  "What are you doing here?"  The Bongiovi children loved Beth.  And she loved them.  Losing them was very hard for her, followed by the loss of her own baby.
"Hi cutie, I'm here with your dad - something about floor samples?"  Beth says, realizing that it does sound stupid.
"Oh yeah, the remodel before dad sells.  Which is a bunch of shit, dad we need to keep this house."  he says in his dad's direction.
"Not now Jake.  Not now."  Jon snaps and Jake can tell he's irritated.  "I''m gonna go get Dot, I'll be right back."  Jon walks away and leaves Beth with Jake.  Jake was playing Call of Duty, so Beth sits down to watch.
A few minutes later Jon appears with no Dorothea. Beth wondered, what's going on? She no sooner has that thought and she hears, "Why did you bring that bitch here?" And there appears Dot.
Jon spins around and tells her to shut her mouth and to stop talking like that infront of the kids. Dot sees Beth and is embarrassed by why she just said. "I'm sorry Beth, I didn't know you were in here. Beth not wanting to cause a scene, she just says, Hello Dorothea, how are you?" Jake pipes up and said, "Now she's pissed."
"Jake watch your language too," boasts his dad. "Dot where are these sample at? I want to get this done and head back towards the city."
With attitude, Dot says "The floor guy was here earlier. You didn't make it in time", she says rather cocky.
"Thanks for letting me know, before we flew out here Dot. Helicopter fuel is free". He is pissed.
Just then Jesse and Romeo walked in. Romeo was so happy to see his daddy. He threw is arms around his dads neck and says "Hi daddy!!" Jon gives him a big hug and says "Hi buddy! I seen you walking back from the beach with Nick. I whistled, you didn't hear me. What have you been up to?" Romeo just tells his dad that he's been swimming and playing with Nick. But he asks, "How long are you here for daddy? Are you spending the night? Jon didn't want to break his heart, but he was always honest with his kids. Romeo walked over and say next to Beth. He says, " Hi Bethy!" She rustles his hair and says "Hey Romy, how ya been?" He tells her good and runs off with Nick
Jon wanting to say goodbye, he stops Romeo and gives him a hug and kiss goodbye. Off he goes...
Jesse says, "Dad can I go back to Jersey with you tonight? Jon was caught off guard, but of course he can go home with his dad. Dot didn't agree and the discussion was going to get heated. Beth whispers to Jon, "I'm going to go take a walk and let you handle this family issue". She makes no bones about kissing him goodbye. And she excuses herself.
Dot takes advantage of her leaving and asks Jon, "Why is she back in the picture?" All Jon can say is, "It's meant to be. Here are some papers I want you to look over." He walks into the kitchen and leaves the boys in the Great Room. She follows him, "What are these and what are they for?" He looks at her pretty blank and tells her they are divorce papers with a settlement offer. Look them over and remember I'm not going to negotiate this. So think hard before you talk Dot"

  1. Uh, I think Jon should have told Beth he is filing for divorce before taking her out to the Hampton house.
Interested to see if Dorothea accepts his offer or not.
    More please!
